I went on Le Shuttle in 2006 (memories.lol) on my bike. Fantastic experience. Riding tho the shuttle carriages was like going thro an alleyway. So when all vehicles were secure, it was time for departure. It was so smooth moving off. I didn't realise we were moving. We were in France before u knew it. On arrival, it felt like it was a movie set. As I hadn't left the shore by boat (so it felt like I hadn't left the country). It was a weird feeling. I then rode into Calais an found a place to stay overnight. Set off for Paris the next day, ready for an even bigger adventure. Then I flew to Italy for The Italian Motorcycle show in Milan. Stayed in the area for 3 days, visiting the show from 10am till 10pm on the second day. Then back to the UK. What a trip, loved it!

I took my XJ9 on the tunnel in the late 90s and I was the only bike on the train. I had to put my front wheel in a triangular thing that slotted into the floor. I can't wait to go again this year.

Strangely you don't lock yourself into anything now, just kinda put it in gear against the edge of the foot way

@@MotoFoxLife cheers. I also remember a guy walking up and down with a wee coffee machine in a backpack dispensing drinks.

I don’t know why they didn’t allow the bikes on first, waiting longer than cars. Any late bikes could go at the very end? I still prefer the ferry but I accept the convenience and speed of the tunnel usually at a premium price.
@MotoFoxLife Жыл бұрын
Its because they put all the bikes at the back of the train, quite often they will move all the bikes to a earlier train if there is extra room at the back too

Cheers, just had my versys in for a new chain and 20K service. I would normally fly into europe (being from manchester) as it is cheap and quick. But on this occasion I think I'll take the bike.
@MotoFoxLife7 жыл бұрын
EinkOLED yeah that's a fair old journey but it's always nice once you get over to the mainland. Don't know what route you will be taking but E17 snack is a good stop for some cheap road food. the verseys is a super comfy bike so you should have a good time.

cool vid! However, on a practical note, you stay/sit/stand next to your bike the whole time I assume?? thx
@MotoFoxLife7 жыл бұрын
Erikootje pretty much, there is nowhere to go apart from the toilet. no seating so you stand or sit next to your bike.

Good video,the price for one person and one moto???
@MotoFoxLife7 жыл бұрын
69STARBREAKER really depends on when your going to travel , the last time I went it was about £70 per bike but you can get some cheap deals at £30ish each way

Now...This is what I can't understand the pricing policy. ..I own a piaggio mp3 LT 500 trike which is smaller in dimensions that your average touring motorcycle but because it's a trike I have to pay car rates. ..It takes up less space than a gold wing but costs twice as much

Planning to go to UK next summer, from Rome. After having parked the bike, what is the accommodation for the biker? Thank you for the very interesting vid. Lamps

There is nothing. You may sit on the floor. The journey is short

When you come out on the french side are they any reminder signs telling British drivers that the speed limits are not the same as the UK ones? I.e france speeds are given in kph as opposed to mph.
@MotoFoxLife Жыл бұрын
Normally you have a few signs like at the ferry port, mostly telling you the side of the road etc

Hey fella, nice vid. Just a quick question, on your screen you have an extra gubbin, is it for wind protection? I have a CB500s and the windscreen is too wee, what are they called and what sort or price are they? Cheers
@MotoFoxLife6 жыл бұрын
Hi, the screen I had fitted was a Vario screen with the spoiler that reflects the wind to make a "bubble" around you. Some say it helps fight the rain too. It did make a difference, I have fitted one to my new bike also.

What is the cost for passage?
@MotoFoxLife8 жыл бұрын
Sam Taylor it does really vary depending on the time of year, holidays etc etc but I believe this cost me £15 each way as they were running a deal for motorcycles. they quite often run short break offers.

Hi, did you stay on foot with your motorcycles, or you have a passengers wagon?
@MotoFoxLife8 жыл бұрын
+Paulo B. You stand with your bike, there is no seating or anything so take a small fold up camping stool or sit on the floor. Its not a long journey :)
