I did it in August 2023, an absolute nightmare. Pissing it down and they had us sitting waiting outside in the rain for over 30 minutes.

In Denmark we have similar, but not as quite as complicated systems before entering some of our Major bridges (We just drive through, eventually with a "Special Electronic Device" (BroBizz), which will automatically accept paying for the ride and by that, is opening the entrance boom), besides we are able to drive for ourselves, and may do it at any time, if wanted! Not needing to wait for a ferry or in this case, a "Train"! We only slows down a little during the passing of the payment entrance. And the coming new, purely Danish built and financed, 18 km tunnel to Germany, also below the water (To take over from the present ferries), it will be for both trains and cars to drive for themselves in the new Fehmarn tunnel, all the way. And of course we have made - no problems for ourselves, with having to change side in which to drive, during the coming ride! This may be more easy, when leaving a ferry or - train at one point!

I went on Le Shuttle in 2006 (memories.lol) on my bike. Fantastic experience. Riding tho the shuttle carriages was like going thro an alleyway. So when all vehicles were secure, it was time for departure. It was so smooth moving off. I didn't realise we were moving. We were in France before u knew it. On arrival, it felt like it was a movie set. As I hadn't left the shore by boat (so it felt like I hadn't left the country). It was a weird feeling. I then rode into Calais an found a place to stay overnight. Set off for Paris the next day, ready for an even bigger adventure. Then I flew to Italy for The Italian Motorcycle show in Milan. Stayed in the area for 3 days, visiting the show from 10am till 10pm on the second day. Then back to the UK. What a trip, loved it!

Loved that seagull just resting on the ground, not giving a damn! Oh and by the looks of that motorcycle lane image, you should have been riding a 2 stroke!

Quick question, is there any customs inspection / temp import when going across with the bike or only passport?

I don’t think so, im pretty sure it’s the same checks as the normal car.

I have used the tunnel by bike a few times, but seeing it from another rider's perspective was good. I am also surprised about the distance ridden before getting onto the train.

Do they strap the bike down, out do you just stay on it? Your video stops at the most interesting part.

You park sideways in the carriage and leave it in gear on the side stand and hop off, they wobble a bit but never seen one fall over, that doesn't stop me holding on to the bike till it gets going though!
@earlebird42624 ай бұрын
@@viamatt5958 wow. That's not the answer I was expecting. That's incredible. They must control the acceleration and deceleration very precisely.

They seem to have changed the routine again….it used to be that the bikes went on first as they were the quickest to get out of the way upon arrival in Calais….now we have to wait until every other dopey sod has left the train! Once again, bikers get zero respect!
