MOTOGADGET M.VIEW SPY MIRRORS: Installation on Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 // Bar end mirrors

In this video, I'm removing the stock mirrors on a 2020 Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 and installing Motogadget M.View Spy glassless bar end mirrors. Here's what the installation process looks like - from start to finish - on a Continental GT 650.

U don't actually need to losen the nut to remove the mirrors. Just turn the right mirror clockwise and the left mirror anticlockwise and they come right out, no need to risk scratching.

Nice, was looking at these for my S1. May I recommend, to never ever ever ever, even if you think your won't use what you are removing again, to use jaw pliers on a bike. I cringed and when I saw those come out:)

Thank you for the tip! I will keep that in mind. Do you have a recommendation for an alternative tool? I saw there is such a thing as soft jaw pliers? (But then again that's technically jaw pliers.)

@@JoyonaBike I usually just use an open end wrench, with a piece of electrical tape on whatever is being removed and replaced, to reduce any marring. I guess if you were going to trash them then why not use pliers? But I usually keep the stuff I remove, in case there comes a time when i sell it, maybe someone wants the original stuff:)

you seem to have no trouble removing the throttle bar end. i tried and it wouldnt come off. took a screwdriver to force seperation after unscrewing....no luck. my intent is foam grips

4:18 There is a lot of distance between the end of the throttle and the end of the handlebar half. How have you solved it? 4:37 it looks different

There's no change in how much space. I think the difference between those two shots is that 4:37 has a little black spacer around the handlebar, to try to fill in that space. You might want to check out my last video on the GT mods (kzbin.info/www/bejne/p5nHf3R5rtyWmdU) because my husband ended up using a Dremel to shave a sliver off of the handlebar, that way everything sits flush together.

Could you flip these so the mirrors go under the bars instead of over? I just got a GT650, am looking to swap out the mirrors but have heard the stock RE bar end's will touch the tank if you go under, so I'm looking at other brands that are smaller (like these).

Did you ever get them off? We had to hold the bar end tight to keep from slipping. Might need to use some kind of tool to hold it in place.

Hey there! Tightening them too close could restrict the movement of the throttle, and it's good to give it a little room so that it can snap back without any resistance.

Hi Joy, your installation looks perfect, but in my GT650 the bar end spins along with the nut when I try to unscrew it, any advice?

Hi there. You will have to hold the bar end tight to stop it from spinning. You might be able to grab it tight with your hand or use a tool to hold it in place, something like channel lock pliers. The bar ends are easy to scratch though so you'll need to protect them with something, or use soft jaw pliers, if you want to keep them. Hope this helps, good luck!

@@JoyonaBike I tried doing that but I removed the whole bar with the bar ends that was inside the Handel bars. Even after removing I tried to take off the bar ends but failed it's really really tight. As of now I can install a bar end mirror but this process much more tough than removing just the bar end 😐.

Hi,i am ordering mirrors for my GT 650,I saw some others videos for installation while they try to take out those bar ends a set of huge bars are coming out from handle bar.But in your video its just those ends came out easily .I am just wondering is this anything to do with 2020 model RE?? I want to do it by my self but kind of scared .LoL

For installing the m.view spy mirrors, I did not have to remove those huge bars, I only had to remove the little bar end piece/cap. However, there might be other mirrors on the market where you will have to remove those big inserts, I just didn't have to for these mirrors. To remove those little bar end pieces, you will have to grab them tight with your hand or a tool to keep them from spinning in order to remove them. Hope this helps!

Try using something to help keep it in place. I haven't used soft jaw pliers before but that's the first thing that comes to mind if you want to try avoiding damaging the metal.

Lollipop, that's what I've always called mirrors like your stock mirrors. Many bikes, ok, all the bikes from the '70s had them. And somehow they've managed to survive, while bell-bottom jean's didn't. 🥴

My Gt 650 is the same as yours,, You have great taste too. ;-) so I had to subscribe. When I try to take off the bar end Allen bolt it just spins without coming out. Did you have that issue? I hate to pry it out.

Thank you! I did have that issue also. Had to grip it so that it stayed in place. Maybe try a tool. Perhaps soft jaw pliers might do the trick to help keep it in place and minimize the chance of damaging the metal?
