MotoGP Ducati Desmosedici GP4 ex Troy Bayliss - Engine Star-Up, Revvings & Exhaust Sound!

I had the pleasure of filming the ex Troy Bayliss MotoGP Ducati Desmosedici GP4 (2004) start-up, revvings & exhaust sound during a motorsport revival event. It doesn't happen every day! In the video, you can see the procedure that distinguishes racing motorcycles. Since they are not equipped with a starter, they need an external motor with a small tire which allows movement when in contact with the rear wheel of the motorcycle. The rotation of the same, first keeping the clutch engaged and then engaging the gear, allows creating the compression necessary to the engine for a start. Troy Bayliss competed in the 2004 MotoGP season with the Desmosedici GP4. The most visible differences, at least externally, are the air intakes on the hull and on the pigtail of which the GP3 did not have. The 989cc, 4-cylinder engine with Desmodromic distribution develops over 230 hp at 16,500 rpm. The frame is a tubular trellis, Öhlins shock absorbers, a 320 mm double disc with Brembo 4-piston callipers at the front and a Termignoni exhaust system.
Ho avuto il piacere di filmare l'accensione della MotoGP Ducati Desmosedici GP4 (2004) ex Troy Bayliss durante una manifestazione di motorsport revival. Non capita tutti i giorni! Nel video potete osservare la procedura che contraddistingue le moto da corsa. Non essendo dotate di motorino di avviamento necessitano di un motore esterno dotato di un piccolo pneumatico che a contatto con la ruota posteriore della moto ne permette il movimento. La rotazione della stessa, prima tenendo la frizione inserita e poi inserendo la marcia, permette di creare la compressione necessaria al motore per l'accensione. Troy Bayliss ha gareggiato nella stagione 2004 MotoGP con la Desmosedici GP4. Le differenze maggiormente visibili, almeno esternamente, sono le prese d'aria sulla carena e sul codino di cui la GP3 non disponeva. Il motore da 989cc, 4 cilindri con distribuzione Desmodromica sviluppa una potenza di oltre i 230 CV a 16.500 giri/min. Il telaio è a traliccio tubolare, ammortizzatori Öhlins, doppio disco da 320 mm con pinze a 4 pistoncini della Brembo all'anteriore ed impianto di scarico Termignoni.

I love motorcycles about 100 times more than cars! This poor Desmosedici sounds like it needs a bit of tuning. These race machines require huge amounts of maintenance, they are true thoroughbreds, highly strung and on the verge of surpassing whatever tech was current when they were built. Makes them even cooler!

That engine has some stupid compression and cams. That paired with a lightweight fly wheel it really doesn't want to start
