Just a great natural human being. I was Mick’s pilot of his first two private jets. Just so easy to relate to. A great Australian and deserves a knighthood.

Thank you Mick Doohan for showing us around the race track for years. Watching you go full throttle was always good.

I watched from the Bass straight stand as Mike slid off at turn one in '97 the class act was having the marshal who was doubling him back to the pits detour towards the grandstand to give us all a wave!

I always wonder if Mick hadn't have got hurt at Assen in 92, might he have won the title that year and then again in 93, thus denying Kevin that years title? Mick could talk the talk and walk the walk and for a man with "one leg", he has reached unbelieveable heights.

He was in the box seat in 92 for sure!

if my memory is correct, he was still leading the championship in 92 3 rounds after Assen. He was that far in front of the rest is was crazy

always difficult to say who is the GOAT across all eras, but considering Mick did it on the 500 which was a much harder bike to ride, very hard to argue he is not the GOAT. Marc and Rossi are the only other 2 that are contenders, respectfully, Agostini in my opinion is over-rated as he was on a factory bike while all of his competition had to ride their race bikes to the circuit. Regardless, Mick would have had 6 titles but for his crash, if my memory serves me correct, he was still leading the championship 2 races after his fall. The thing I have always loved about Mick is his way of words, it is captivating to listen to him even after all these years. I have only seen a couple of interviews with Jack but with a dad lick Mick mentoring him, cant wait to see Jack win the F1 championship (although I do dislike F1)

That's a pretty handy top 3. Where does Stoner rank?
@soundzrinmygarden38333 ай бұрын
Barry Sheene and Kenny Roberts go alright as well. I rank them according to their opposition and I think the current riders have the most competition on the grid. Doohan was great but the opposition was pretty pedestrian once Rainey, Lawson, Gardner and Schwantz stepped aside. That's when the title wins started.

@@ausmotogp IMHO, Stoner retired too early so dropped out of the GOAT debate. If he stayed on, no doubt he would have been up there. Did you hear that Marcy Marc was adopting Stoners lines going into Honda at the Island? Shows just how great Casey was.

@@soundzrinmygarden3833 Yeah, did not thank of Barry when writing my comment. I was too young (but still alive) when Kenny was winning which is strange because the same can be said about Barry but I know so much more about his history. Agree a lot of Micks competitors where pedestrian, but what he was able to do, especially using the thumb operated rear brake was amazing. Its crazy I am commenting on this as I always think the GOAT is a wank because its just impossible to compare eras. Good however to have a health discussion with similar people that love the sport. cheers

What impresses me about Mick Doohan is his record of being unbeatable from Australia to Europe. Often, he would bide his time until the final five laps of a race before making his move to secure the win. It seemed as though he was conserving his tyres, but that's just speculation.

@jeremycox8261 there is an issue with social media that some ppl just "need" to make comment just to inflate their own egos that they are better than everyone else. Hope you are enjoying yourself in your own ways by insulting the people that have made comment on topic, but clearly this is not anything you are concerned about as its just a matter of floating your own boat. Your comments are absolutely a waste of internet space, if you dont like the thread, just leave and leave others to enjoy the discussion. Its really not that hard mate, if you like, make comment, if you dont like, just leave. What is the point to making negative comments.
