CASEY STONER was unbelievable back in this time.. He was fearless at this time in his career.. Loved watching MotoGp back then.. What Casey Stoner managed to do with that Ducati was nothing short of incredible. He was able to push beyond the bikes many difficulties and some how make it do what we just witnessed, the down side to that is that there is only one Casey Stoner and they couldn't find anyone after him to do what he was capable of doing.

Same here, I always liked MotoGP if i ever saw it but never went out of my way to watch it. Got my license and first bike a month ago, now I understand how much time and effort they put into getting as good as they are to ride at that level on the edge of their skill and the edge of what the bikes can handle. I have so much more respect for all riders as its no where near as easy as many experienced riders make it look, especially on the road with other cars, very average roads etc...

First I watched MotoGP when I was in 4th grade in 2004, I understood that the winner was the favorite. At that time, VR46 has often been a champion since then, it's been a big fan of VR46 until now. Losing wins but VR46 is in heart❤️

Watched this race so many times and there is nothing quite like it. Stoner was one of the most unquestionable riders of his day, always right on the limit, fantastic rider to watch. The DOC tho, well that's another story and still is in MotoGP. He is without doubt a living legend !

Nicola Dal Corso in 2012 stoner had less points than pedrosa...but he skipped 3 races, raced two injured and before indianapolis the victories' count was 4-1 for stoner in his first 7 years rossi raced against Gibernau (9 victories in MotoGP) Melandri (5 victories) and last but not least Hayden (3 victories, yes that's right..3) managing to lose a championship to the american, ALWAYS on a factory bike. Stoner won 11 races more than rossi over the same period battling with Rossi, Pedrosa and then Lorenzo, starting on LCR Honda and not having access to michelin saturday night's tyres as ROS, PED, and HAY, he had a harder time than rossi did in his early years for sure Stoner has a corner named after him, a corner where he gained 0.5s a lap on everybody else. But I really like the parallelism with other sports (pippen and jordan and so on....) :)

Unless you have actually raced motorcycles on a serious stage you will never understand how hard it is to beat someone that has that big of a horsepower advantage. Even if you are faster, trying to make a pass stick is the most frustrating thing in the world. Major props to Rossi for managing to keep it that close.

The fact that Stoner was able (as the only rider) to win so many races (and the championships also) on Ducati is really something. You could be able to see "the power" of Ducati during these two seasons with Rossi on it. How powerful was that?

This guy needs to come back to ducati before Rossi leaves for good. I think Stoner is the second best of modern era. Rossi being first only because the way he adapts. That 08 laguna race, when Stonar had crazy pace. The way he prevented him to escape and manage to win amazing.

PHX Master They aren't same situations. Stoner struggled for most of his last year on the Ducati before figuring something out and winning a couple the year before Rossi got on the bike. The factory were incapable of improving the bike until a couple of years later when Audi bought Ducati and overhauled the management. Even now it's still slow progress. There's nothing wrong with preferring Stoner, he is a great two time champion. Rossi is almost certainly the greatest of all time though. His achievements far outweigh two years of struggling that most athletes never recover from. Don't forget he already left the almighty, unbeatable Honda to get on the Yamaha that hadn't won a race in over a year and instantly won and beat Honda who threw everything at beating him back in 2004.

Pedrosa was classed an "Alien" too. He stayed with them the whole race! When you look at this race and motoGP races today there is no comparison. There are far too many electronics involved in todays bikes and the sport. I wish they would take it back to basics and let the riders do the hard work instead of who can set up the electronics best. This was some race. Stoner was a beast on that Duke.

Very nice. Would have loved for Rossi to win it though. Haha it's funny that whenever Stoner beats Rossi it's always about "Why Rossi didn't win", and not about how "Stoner beat Rossi". I think it's because Rossi's always being seen as the underdog. He's a great rider, but it's as if he always has something to prove. That next win, is that something, and most of support him for that reason without knowing it. Stoner's done an exceptional job beating Rossi with a bike that isn't as good around the corners, but is lightning fast on the straights. But still, I don't care too much that Stoner managed to beat Rossi. I would've liked for Rossi to win.

Already at the time the Yamaha was less powerful in speed compared to the Ducati and even the Honda, Rossi compensated in braking! A true genius ! This race in Catalunya is reminiscent of that of Rossi vs Lorenzo, Rossi who goes inside Lorenzo in the last corner of the circuit, incredible!

Goes to show how much the bikes have changed. No body shapes off the bike...well apart from Elias but that was always his thing. No one with their head leaning towards the floor, no elbow down....World away from today's traction control / abs world and none the worse for it..... Motorbikes are exciting for all the difficulties the riders have to overcome for what the bike does and doesn't want the rider to do.... incredible

that was an awesome race!! casey stoner rode like a mad man on that last lap to keep rossi from getting close enough to even attempt a pass. but that battle from about 6-7 laps to the finish was amazing. the acceleration and top speed of the ducati's just can't be matched that imo was the difference in this race. stoner and rossi rode out of their mind, amazing race!

He has more aggressive throttle than Rossi but he can control the rear wheel very very good, slightly mistake the rear wheel will be spinning because Ducati has a lot of power, spin meaning losing speed. Based on what i saw and data from motogp website.

um.....no dude. If you watch the race Valentino was reaching higher top speeds then Stoner on many of the laps. The reason Stoner was able to get past Rossi and Pedrosa on the straights was his remarkable ability to pick up the bike and get on the throttle early

Francis Alpatro oh please, don't tell this ridiculous things. In 2007 Ducati had much more power than other bikes, specially compare to Yamaha. Watch when Rossi is first on the straigh, Stoner pass him so easily. Everybody had know this. Don't you remeber the 2007 season? i remeber it very good. Stoner is a great rider, but his Ducati in 2007 was a great great bike.

This is so stupid. Ducati in 2007 was the best bike with the best dedicated Bridgestone tyres. The Ducati of Rossi was just another bike lower than Honda and Yamaha. These are prototypes and change so much year by year, not a R1 or CBR. Anyway, Rossi is the best, so simple.

+Zero don't get it wrong, I hate cheaters, plain and simple. Rossi is a cheat if he can't win fairly, eg: Malaysia 2015. As far as the last race goes, MM93 often waits until the last or second last lap to overtake (a trick he picked up from a rider he seriously misjudged and used to idolise) - look at Assen this year when he only started challenging for the lead with two laps to go. Pedrosa challenging with three laps to go, disrupted MM93's plans and he had to ensure that he stayed ahead of Pedrosa if he intended to challenge for the lead. Also, why does Rossi need the Hondas to win the championship for him. He firstly accuses MM93 of messing around with his championship, but then he expects MM93 to win the championship for him at Valencia - a track Rossi is not great at. So what is the issue with Lorenzo being champion this year? Think carefully about your answer and come back with a straight forward reply, because on other threads you have not always been clear on your issues. Go read what Rossi said and come back with a reply as soon as you can, because I know that Rossi fans just quote him verbatim - boring, but predictable.
