@@pinkpanther8932 Are you fucking kidding me? He went wide charging for a pass he couldn't make, started to low side, his tires got grip and he rode directly into Edwards and Rossi's path. There was no where for them to go. I was and still am greatly saddened by Marco's tragic death, but Rossi, his friend who escorted his body back home to Italy, was not at fault in any way. Lets also not forget that even though Marco was exciting to watch he had been warned all throughout the season by Dorna about his recklessness. Rossi even spoke to him personally about it. He had taken out several riders in the earlier races that year. Simoncelli even admitted he needed to chill his riding style.

Scott Lindauer One thing I observed when it happened was that his helmet came off. I think it was because it didn’t fit properly because of his big thick hair. I believe he would have survived if the helmet had stayed on. RIP

@@andyblack5687 that's very possible, sad day for moto gp. Even though he was riding a bit recklessly he was awesome to watch and would have made the competition that much more exciting for years to come. Sad he never got the chance to mature into the rider he could have been. That comment just really aggravated me. Imagine how rossi and Edwards feel to this day. There was nothing they could do to avoid hitting their friend ultimately killing him.
@andyblack56874 жыл бұрын
Scott Lindauer Right. He went down right in front of them. They had no chance to even try to dodge him. I’m sure they’ve struggled with that and continue to. I thought maybe Simoncelli would one day be a Moto GP champion. I believe he left behind one or two children as well.

I will never forget in Brno 2001. I was there with my family dad, aunt and my cousin. They all were fans of Biaggi cause daddy bought a red Yamaha bike 2 weeks before. And my idol was The Doctor. Everyone of my family was happy... except me. I just told them after 20 minutes of listening how good biker Biaggi is: "Dont be happy too long. In 2 laps he will crash." And he did in front of us. Half of family was not speaking with me for half year. :) I will never forget that.

There aren't any racers doing Moto GP and F1 and Moto GP and F1 are so saturated with talent now compared to the old days. There are thousands and thousands of guys who are trying to get into both sports so it's way, way harder now borderline impossible especially with sponsor's and them not wanting their driver/rider doing another type of racing risking their current career. A sponsor paying you 20mil a or whatever will not let you go risk injury doing other stuff they will just drop you as a rider, that's why you've never seen any Moto GP guys try the TT it's not because they are scared lol.

For those confused: This chart is showing victories in the Premier class only. So that would be the 500cc and later, the MotoGP class. Agostini raced when riders were allowed to compete in both the 500cc class as well as the 350cc during the same championship year. So if you add in all class victories, Giacomo Agostini will be on the top. But for the Premier class-only, Valentino Rossi is the undisputed king in terms of race wins. I have a feeling that if Rossi were allowed to compete in both MotoGP and something to the effect of a Moto2.5(modern equivalent to 350cc class), he'd probably be the all-time race winner. But we'll never know. Now, if Marc Marquez can survive without serious injury over the next 3-5 years, that is very likely to change.

@@petecotter6790 What an incredibly stupid thing to say. Riders like Biaggi and Gibernau were anything but slow. Not just that, but he was typically very competitive against the likes of Stoner, Pedrosa and Lorenzo. Based on your logic, Marquez has had even weaker competition. Schumacher was much the same as Rossi, having had to deal with the likes of Hakkinen, Raikkonen, Montoya, Coulthard and the sort. They weren't exactly pushovers either. You don't win that many races because the competition is weak every time. You win that many times because you're consistently bloody good at what you do.

Yes, but it is fascinating too watch how country of origin changes through history. - UK was dominant at first, because in 50's and 60's major companies were British and it was strong market for high power bikes. - When Itlian companies stated seriously competing in higher classes and as Italian market of high powered bikes grow, there were more Italian riders. - With stronger entry of Japanise bikes, they were looking for British, US & Australian riders, because of market. In lower classes Spanish & Italian riders were always dominant. In the time of two-stroke bikes, many different companies were focused just on lower classes (Kreidler, Morbidelli, Bultaco, Derbi, Minarelli, Krauser, Garelli, Tomos, ...) and major markets for them were Italy and Spain And Spanish rider were always strong in lower classes, (Ángel Nieto, Jorge Martínez, Ricardo Tormo, ...)

Also an error in the video which should be corrected, Stoner's active years were from 2006-2012 in MotoGp and not 2001-2012

@@Raffini Na, you don't have to shift brands. It's impressive but shifting to a bike that doesn't suit your style or isn't up to the job, doesn't make you less of a rider. You end up like Lorenzo and Rossi at Ducati.

@@vectorv No, you shift teams for a new challenge, a change of scenery or because they offer you a better chance of winning. Marc will never be GOAT, he can't be. The rules don't allow it anymore.

Australians and Italians have won at least one race in every decade since the 50s. But they didn't win Championships in every decade. Italians failed to win in the 90s and 2010s, and Australia won its first championship in 1987.
