1. Thank you all for the amazing work you do! 2. Could y’all cover that 300ZX next? Is it the same one that has the hardtop spliced roof? 3. For the store (in the future), could y’all also make shirts with the “mid 2000’s” MotoIQ logo? In one video Mr. Kojima was wearing a black service shirt with the old MotoIQ logo embroidered on and it looked amazing, well worth whatever price y’all would sell it for. It could make for a cool retro line of merch or something🤷🏾‍♂️ God bless!

It would be really cool to see you swap an FA24 from the 2nd gen’s into your current FRS project. It would make very similar power without any boost, in fact you with headers and a tune you’d be on par with the power you’re making at 8psi. I’ve seen people put a harrop supercharger on the new twins and make a super solid power band.

I'm driving my GT86 exclusively on the street, not track, and the stiffening of the rear subframe bushings has improved confidence in fast, long Autobahn sweeps a lot. Otherwise my car only got 225/40/18 Goodyear Eagle F1 asymmetric 6 for the summer, camber bolts up front, an alignment (mostly to get 0 toe and make things more symmetrical left to right) and a GrimmSpeed front strut tower brace. After watching this video I'm going to look into those front control arm/chassis braces and a diff brace next, keeping it simple. What are your thoughts on Bilstein B6 OEM replacement shocks for street use? My car must have the early Showa shocks before Toyota switched to Sachs later on.

6hp from fluid damper is crazy. Is it worth it on a K24A2?
@motoiq
@motoiq 14 күн бұрын
Interestingly we didn't see any power gain on an EJ but we did notice a huge decrease in vibrations and even how the engine sounded. So for engine life alone I think it is worth it. We use them on our K Series builds but have not done a back to back comparison.
@Beanpapac15
@Beanpapac15 14 күн бұрын
@motoiq Interesting, I wonder if it has anything to do with the differences in bore/stroke ratio. If it does then you'd expect an even bigger improvement on an under square engine like the K24. I wish I could afford the dyno time to do a before and after when I upgrade my MR2.
@wrexz

@@Vgk36 I saw that lol. It's fine for a track car but not for a street car. I read a pretty long thread on a BRZ forum about the k swap and the biggest complaint was the vibrations. It would crack the headers or people would have to fab a brace to support the intake manifold

There's a good number of people who repeat the line, "that boxer engine CG is low, brah". To which I respond, that it doesn't seem like Mazda corporation finds a vertical inline-4 a handling problem in the MX-5. While the boxer can be built to be strong, it's a less optimal place to start compared to a host of historical fours from Volvo, Mitsubishi, BMW, Honda, Nissan.

It just seems like a no brainer to do so though.

@ Are there any current production vertical inline-4 engines from Toyota that would make a good starting point for 300-400 horsepower in this thing?

I CONSTANTLY toss between this and an NC miata for a steady track day car. Both are pretty inexpensive to upkeep, both have infinite aftermarket support, both are direct and about fun>power. Ive always wondered, if you were to go balls to the wall, which platform/chassis would have a higher ceiling.

Probably both are about the same.

You should have them do a CFD model of this car as it is right now and see how they all work. Considering all the aero parts are from different suppliers and developed independently. I'm not trying to bash you guys because I do love your content, I'm just curious what the final aero results would be.

Except to do a CFD run is very expensive.

You moved the front of the arm down to remove anti-dive? that doesn't sound right... After a couple more camera shots, it looks like you moved it up, which would make more sense.
@motoiq
@motoiq 13 күн бұрын
That makes more anti dive.

@motoiq I feel like I'm arguing with God since so much of what I think I know about suspensions I've learned from you. 😊 That said, lowering the front of the arm is going to raise the front suspension's side-view instant center, no? And that is like raising the roll center, which creates jacking forces that make the front dive less under braking, hence more anti-dive? And raising the front of the control arm does the opposite? Am I missing something subtle? Are you using Whiteline opposite terminology?
@motoiq
@motoiq 13 күн бұрын
If the arm is flatter the percentage of the distance between the CG and lateral instant center gets smaller so less anti dive.

@@motoiq I've re-read that about 20 times, and I don't think there's enough information there to turn it in to the correct mental diagram to follow what you're saying. Maybe it's time for a Part 9 of The Ultimate Suspension and Handling Guide to go through it with diagrams? 😅
