I have a pair of the rokker boots and a pair of tcx blend, you are right the rokker are just quality. You would not be able to tell on the video but they are really worth the money. I would definitely recomend them. I can honestly say they are expensive they do have to wear them in ( worth the wait) you will have them for years and have them resolved. The tcx blend are really comfortable and cool, but if you had both pairs to try on, you would see the difference and pay. I would definitely recomend and would buy another pair in the future. The point about the ankle protection, the padding and thickness of leather is far better than the specific ankle protectors in lesser boots.
@davidmohr40042 жыл бұрын
Agreed. I have a couple Rokker's (Racer and Rebel) boots and some TCK I picked up on clearance. I am a bit of boot ho both for the bike and others. I tend to be buy once cry once so I tend to buy higher priced IF they are quality. I do really like my TCXs at the price point. They look great they are super comfortable and waterproof into the bargain. On clearance a hard to beat grab 'em and put 'em in closet. I wear them in wet and I have no complaints. That said if they were a daily wearer, they do not compare to the handmade Rokker for quality or durability. There is no way they would stand up to daily wear for more than 2 or 3 years. No question the TCX is not a boot that will get resoled as they would just be worn out and tossed. I think the Rokker will likely be around long enough to get new soles and be well worth it. Nothing wrong with either and they both fill a role...just different boots at different price points.

I looked at the X Blend but opted for the Hero. To me the X Blend sole unit looks cheap and doesn’t have the type of grip I want. The Hero looks more premium in comparison with a better sole unit and the addition of a zip along with the laces to make getting them on and off more easy. The price difference isn’t exorbitant, especially with the Motolegends price comparison policy. A no brainer.

TCX hero is a great boot. love it. But my feet run so hot, I wish it didn't have a waterproof liner. I oil my boots and keep them in good condition. I know from my wildland fire days, an oiled leather boot is waterproof enough for me, and lets my feet breath. Why are so many motorcycle boots waterproof?

Can we assume all but the Trickers are CE rated? I've got a pair of the Helstons C5 boots and whilst they are good looking and go well with my jeans I do have a nagging doubt that if I were to be involved in an accident (post-COVID-19 of course) they wouldn't give as much protection as I should maybe have so I'll probably be looking for taller boots in the coming season (2021 at this rate!).
@Motolegends4 жыл бұрын
Yes, all the boots except the Trickers are CE rated, but clearly, the problem with any short boot is that they don't extend up the shin. A taller boot is, in some ways, more protective. ML

@Motolegends4 жыл бұрын
Altberg make very fine boots. But when I ordered a pair to compare with a pair of Daytona I thought they were clunky and clumsy by comparison. There is another issue going forward. It is suspected that the EU will make the wearing of CE approved boots obligatory at some point in the not too distant future as they have done already with gloves. Altberg boots are not CE approved. Altberg also has the a very old fashioned website. It can be quite difficult to buy a pair of their boots, and if they don't have your size you can be in for an eight week wait. I see them more as an artisanal maker rather than a serious player. ML

We all wear leather boots in bad weather but don’t tend to wear leather jackets in the worst of weathers. You can put a waterproof membrane in a leather jacket (eg Halvarssons Racken or Rokka Coriace) but they are not the best type of jacket for bad weather.

20:00 That time Hermes went through his biker stage haha, those better have Goodyear soles. I'm rather enjoying the videos you guys put out. I also enjoy Chris's honesty and devotion to fashion and style. I dare say that Chris quite possibly is so honest because he appears to be terrible at lying... he seems to have a tell when he's not 100% comfortable telling someone something or if there is a baby elephant in the room, and I'm 100% ok with that. Actually I rather prefer that quality in salesmen. Trying to trick us with a Trickers! I rarely buy into bullshit and gimmicks, and I'm not implying, or rather completely categorizing this as bullshit or a gimmick, but I fall for a Royal Warrant every time haha. Quite possibly it's a heritage thing, and I do admire Holland & Holland shotguns so I have to admit it must stand for some type of benchmark in quality. That being said Jimmy Savile was a knight.... hey we all make mistakes! I'm keen on the idea of a stylish Chelsea Boot with a CE rating. Hopefully the ever advancing field of chemical engineering and the rapid advancements in textile technology will warrant us with a pair in the not so distant future! Until then I'm sticking with the Belstaff Trialmaster Boots or just putting a shift protector over my many pair of cowboy boots! Thanks again for the videos.

Any boot that doesn't provide heavy-duty ankle-bone protection is a long-term painful recovery in the making if the rider goes down and his or her ankle(s) slide on the pavement. Boots without solid ankle protection are trading short-term comfort for long-term, painful healing.
@Motolegends4 жыл бұрын
As someone who is currently recovering from a broken ankle from a motorbike accident I couldn't agree more. All the short boots have CE approved ankle protectors except the Trickers boots (which I do make clear in the video). Having said that looking at what many bikers wear the Trickers is still a more protective boot than many worn out there. ML

Do you feel the Helstons C5 or TCX Street Ace offers better protection?
@motolegends26064 жыл бұрын
Ryan, I'd have to say it's marginal. Neither boot sits at the top end in terms of protection. But I would probably tend to the view that the TCX is more of a proper bike boot. The Helstons is a very stylish boot that you can wear on the bike. ML

Can you wear army breathable boots when you’re riding motorcycle?
@Motolegends4 жыл бұрын
Technically, of course, you can wear anything you like on the bike. There is no legal requirement. I'm imagining there are lots of different styles of army boot. Breathable suggests no membrane so they won't keep your feet dry, but the main issue is to do with reinforcements in the toe, heel and ankles, and I don't know whether your boots have these. The other issue is a shank in the sole which gives the boot rigidity, again you only get this in better motorcycle boots - don't know whether you get one in an army boot. ML
