I wear a pair of Travelstar GTX - 10 years now. Rain flooded them, sun burnt them. They simply never let me down. Allways dry. Best buy in my mc life.

I can vouch for all of this. I've been using Daytona Road Star boots since I passed my test. 16 years, over 100 000 miles and 3 crashes later they're still going strong! Looking slightly tatty but still fully functional.

I also had the same leaking issue with both pairs of strive gtx. First pair replaced by yourselves in 2019 after a years use. A few years later 2nd pair leaking as well. Unfortunately not much interest in helping other thann quoted for a repair which was around £200, so haven't worn since as dont want to carry spare socks. Contacted Daytona directly but no response. Customer service is non existent, but would be interested to find out how to claim under Goretex guarantee as I have a pretty useless pair of boots at moment. Very comfortable and lovely pair of summer boots just no good in rain

I Love the Daytona with heel lifts enabling me to flat foot my GS. Really gives me a secure feeling (5ˋ7´) being able to plant my feet firmly on the ground….indispensable! Great quality and reliability over the years, never had a problem with inclement weather….highly recommendable!

I've had two pairs of M-Stars and one of the Max Sports GTX. I bought them primarily to improve my short-legged stance, but the durability has been impressive and the great breathability a delightful surprise, summer or winter. What did wear out on the first pair of M-Stars, after several years, was the gear-change pad. Sadly, it was way too expensive to send them back to Germany from the US, so I bought a second pair. After a couple of years, that pad failed, too. I do regularly use the preservatives sold by Daytona and it's a big year for me if I ride 1,000 miles. They seldom get wet since I live in a dry climate. No good excuse for failure. The material of which the shifter pad is constructed is relatively soft and rips straight through and around the edges. Since they are absolutely excellent boots with that one exception, I bought a pair of Max Sports GTX next. They have a much more robust gear-change pad, of a totally different material. Hooray! These seem to be holding up well. They have the same lift in the heel and are even more comfortable. Since it almost never rains here, their lower height is not a problem--no splashing into the boot. They're taller than they look, anyway. At least, for this short-legged female rider. Oh, and Sara--what's with Chris's sub-heading on the Daytona email about "The best a man can get?" What about the ladies, Chris? Daytona make several really nice women's styles!

I had the same problem with my gear change wearing the pad so I purchased some clear tubing warmed it up and pushed it over the knurled gear change lever works well!

I coveted a pair of Daytona (aka Frey-Daytona) for years. I scratched that itch about 18 months ago when I acquired a pair of of the Travel Star Pro GTX. Whoa! My initial impression was this was way more boot than I needed for occasional riding. But I rationalized my decision due to living in the SF/Northern California Bay Area where high speed freeway riding is required to get from here to there; I knew I'd only feel safe in a pair of robust boots. Since then, the boots are breaking in nicely and I even packed them with me for a four-day stint of riding in southern German (no, I didn't get to see the factory). Back home in CA, I've been shopping a pair of shorter ankle, more casual boots to facilitate spur-of-the moment riding closer to home, hence quicker gearing up. TCX and Held have attractive products. I'm very interested in Daytona's short boot offerings. Thanks for this VERY informative survey of Daytona products!

Another outstanding video and a great update to your daytona video of a couple years ago. I've bought several pairs of daytona from you, and my favorites are the Flash and the Travel Star Pro GTX. Vastly different boots, for sure, but I vary their usage seasonally. The Travel Star are my only pair of "Pros" and I notice their sole is markedly better in the rain. Is that true amongst all in the "Pro" line? I suppose what I'm specifically asking is do the "Pros," across the range, have an upgraded sole as compared to other, non-"Pro" daytona? Thank you, Chirs.

I am glad to see this new video. I love my gtx road stars but must admit some surprise and disappointment after my last outing in the rain, that unlike your statement at 4:55, BOTH of my boots leaked at the accordion panel over the Achilles tendon. No other part of the inner was wet; toes were dry, ankle and forefoot was dry, the entire upper area around shin and calf was dry. My boots are two and a bit years old and my distributor will not warranty them. They have been well cared for. I do try to commute through most of our Canadian west coast weather, and I have never had this issue. Any suggestions from other Daytona users? Edit. I just listened a few seconds further and heard about the gore guarantee…

Awesome video! I have owned my M-Star boots for a couple years and I love them. It is odd about the warranty ? I'm not sure what they are thinking? Best!

I took delivery of a pair of GTX max sports boots yesterday. Is there anything I can do to break them in a bit as I tried them on with a thin pair of socks and could barely get the zips done up. I don't have large calves and I bought the correct size so don't know why they are so hard to get on.

I used to commute 1100 miles per week and had a pair of heine gericke boots that lasted about 5 years in all weather conditions, they never leaked but were well passed their sell by date . I bought a pair of Daytona gore tex boots what a let down they leaked in less than a year, took them back to dealer who had to send them back to Germany, who said take it up with gore tex . I’ve since thrown them in the bin and will never buy again , expensive crap.

It's a shame Daytona doesnt make an actual traditional boot with a Goodyear welt and unlined full grain leather. They've just overcomplicated the AC Classics for no good reason, why have both a zip and laces? Why have a membrane on a lower boot? Ah well, I guess there's still some Rokker Urban Racers about.

Some people have problems getting out of boots, if they only have laces. My daughter needs to loosen the laces to a ridiculous extend, and an additional zipper makes it much easier to get out.
