Good to see the underside of the Volt and thanks for the great technical explanation!

The Volt is very interesting ... gotta give GM credit for it ... Got to learn more about it today. Love the video M.

Great review. I have loved my '14 Volt since I bought it 5 years ago. It's not perfect, but I think it's the best CAR I've ever owned. I highly recommend it. Thanks for the great look underneath!

Very, very interesting. And, I am not an electric vehicle fan at all! But, the engineering and design facts were fantastic. Great job explaining them.

18echosf, I wasn't either....recent circumstances made me buy this new Volt, AND I LOVE IT. Everyone I know who has one, loves it, and gets excellent mileage. They are highly reliable! Sooooo, I got one too. I'm very happy with the car!

Love this video....thanks for sharing. I appreciate that a knowledgeable person has made an accurate video about the car....it means something, to me. Most car videos are made by the uninformed, and so-called "journalists" that are clueless and biased.

Yeah, I'd like you to go way more in depth about this car, teardown the battery, alternator, engine and the inverter. I want to know what's going on in there.

Good video... better than magazines written by "journalists".
@patrickflohe11935 жыл бұрын
pjkPA, exactly. "Journalists" try to come off as experts, but really know nothing, and pass along their bias. It's nice to know that a few people that know a thing or two about cars, are making videos too.

The link is the same on our 2002 Astra we are getting it replaced suspension shops hate them they give no rigidity to the handling of the car !
@patrickflohe11935 жыл бұрын
Terry Thomas, this car has plenty of rigidity. I own one, and it handles very well....it's very reliable as well. Everyone I've known who has one, LOVES them, and they last a very long time. We're talking 3-400,000 miles, with no problems. If the part was that bad, this wouldn't happen.

The bumper and logo. It is the same car, built on the same line in Detroit Hamtramck.

So it's a Hybrid ?? !! I hope Mean-Gene gets to try the VW Golf GTE and BMW i3 Range Extender and lets us know what he thinks ?? !! Or even better a Peugeot 3008 Hybrid4 !!!
@voltecrules6247 жыл бұрын
Sale_Shark Most of the time it's a pure EV vehicle. I can choose a hybrid mode, but rarely use it. It's mountain mode and under extreme acceleration or load the engine not only sends electricity to the electric Motor, but also drives the wheels. There's almost never occurs during my normal driving. Call it a hybrid is kind of derogatory, since most of the vehicle is designed to operate on electricity only.

what does a replacement Chevy Volt battery actually cost?
@jonboy5459 жыл бұрын
With a good condition core (old battery) Approximately $2500 out of warranty. The warranty is 8 years, 100,000 miles. Source: any GM parts lookup website, enter part# 22944871. With no returnable core, VERY expensive. $27K I think.
@TheDavidjenn8 жыл бұрын
+jonboy545 Doesnt matter really for most, the battery is covered for such a long time. I saw some on eBay for hobbyists for about $2k+
@AlexDiamantopulo7 жыл бұрын
come on, it costs from $6,970 to 9,2000 . I can't find 27K anywhere.
@calirider2096 жыл бұрын
Seemorefta More it dose not matter because they don't degrade like other EV's. GM has never replaced one under warranty which is for 8 years and 100,000 or 10 years and 150,000 miles depending on your state. I still have many worry free miles and years left on my battery warranty.
@infringinator4 жыл бұрын
@@calirider209 dont believe everything you hear I just replaced entire battery 3 packs...GM says they never replaced a battery for degradation, but they replaced many many many many many batteries for other faults...such as temperature sensors built inside the battery. It's all lies LIES!!
@wavey6110 жыл бұрын
Like he said in the beginning, it's all electric until the battery runs out. Then it runs on gas

Can you do a detailed review with the GM Volt engineer on the 2016 model? kzbin.info/www/bejne/d3yliGxml7KVfrM
@MotoManTV9 жыл бұрын
Jon Car Will certainly try but as you can imagine, not all engineers are as dynamic as Dave Leone or Mean Gene. Yes, we will drive the 2016 Chevrolet Volt early but will certainly endeavor to get something going as we have more access to the car.

I don't get what's so interesting about this? Suspension is just like every other Eco box small size car.... Sentra, corolla, cruze..etc couldn't get any more boring than that!
@manoman010 жыл бұрын
Why show ignorance so blatantly?
@DanFrederiksen10 жыл бұрын
manoman0 looks like a primitive live axle rear suspension to me. how that is lightweight I'm not sure. And the car is 1720kg. The opposite of light.

@infringinator4 жыл бұрын
well when you're on the used dealer lot and you see that crappy sentra or corolla, and see one of these at the same price range...what would you do? If you like music you can hear everything because no engine noise to compete with. If you live in a hot state you can leave the A/C running without burning up gas.
