I've dug around my youtube file to find this video. I am thinking about buy a new Mini Cooper Convertible either a JCW or S. You've driven both, finding yourself driving on L.A. freeways or moutain driving which one would you consider? Is their a point system when it comes to the RIDE? Give me your feelings about driving hours on end in either one? Robert

Funny watching your future self in a V12 Vantage during a Mini JCW review. I used to have a V12 Vantage and I’m looking to pick up a JCW for runs out to go MTBing. Looking for something fun to drive that can do the chores life has.

Is it possible to attach snowboards to the top of this convertible? Or canoes? Or bikes? Obviously you lose the convertible factor but I was wondering...

The convertible likely competes with the Miata. The hardtop JCW would mostly compete with the VW GTI, but otherwise as you suggest it has few direct competitors in the US due to its high price for what you get in performance. I've always liked the Mini, but I have no kids and rarely have anyone besides my dogs in the back seat, so it is an option for me. That said, I'll stick with the GTI for its utility over a Mini.

John Crane I disagree. You can have this car as a daily driver, the Miata not so much, 2 seats. Miata is cheaper and may be even more fun to drive. I think it is in a class of its own. This is one of my top choices for a new car right now but the very base convertible model, not the JCW or the S.

Who cares about adjusting the throttle mapping? Why can't it just have one perfect setting?
