Great video, thanks! I would say that as an overall daily-driver package the new S60 appeals to me far more than the offerings from Merc/BMW/Audi, etc. Perhaps Volvo's current lineup is tugging at my 45% Swedish DNA, but in terms of style, interior, ergonomics, and comfort I find these cars immensely appealing. I also like that you see far less of them then all the regular players, at least here in the Bay Area. If I were in the market for a mid-sized European sedan, the S60 would be at the very top of my list. I'm actually considering an AWD XC40 as my next daily-driver, and have been very impressed with it so far.

Moto man, you pressed the "off" when trying to turn on the AC, but that icon does nothing when the system is off. You need to press the icon between both "off" icons in order to turn it on.

The thing with the suspension is that normally USA has roads in worst conditions than Sweden, Germany, France, Spain, etc. So to make the car feel more comfy they use a softer suspension, Ford and other american brands do the same.

One thing I've noticed about the Sensus infotainment system in my 2017 XC90 is that it never completely shuts down when you turn off the ignition. It's actually in a sleep mode which starts booting up when you unlock or open the drivers door. Usually by the time I hit the start button, fiddle around the interior a few seconds, buckle the seatbelt, and shift into either Drive or Reverse, the Sensus system is up and running as I pull out of my driveway. Volvo is also one of the only carmakers that offers free cloud based OTA (over the air) software updates for the Sensus system. Free navigation map upgrades, free driver safety technology upgrades, and free overall vehicle system upgrades. How much does Audi, BMW, and Mercedes charge for their navigation and infotainment system updates?

Awesome video the Volvo S60 is a good choice for the segment it has the striking design of the Volvo family it has a functional interior it has fuel efficient engines although it may not be the sportiest ( BMW 3 series) or luxurious ( Mercedes C Class) it has its own unique approach to the segment

Could have turned on the A/C in 5 seconds. Actually, in a real world, it would have already been on, but if you want to adjust the temp or fan speed just click on the voice control on the steering wheel right away and say "set temperature to seventy degrees." Also, you could start the car up to 15 min before you came to it with the Volvo on Call app that's complimentary for 4 years. Come to Park Place Volvo in Dallas and I'll show you. :-)

I've found that the fastest way to get my XC60 HVAC system going while in the car is to push the button below the screen for windshield which will blast either AC or Heat depending on temperature. Only other way to do it is the Volvo On Call app and remote start.

I have the 2018 XC60, the infotainment system seems not really that slow. Especially for the temperature change and seat warmer, I can change it right away when I start the car. The navigation system is the slowest takes about one minute to fully function, other functions all gets ready to use before that.
@jeffs6090
@jeffs6090 6 жыл бұрын
I agree totally. I have a 2019 XC40 (utterly love it!), and it's the same. Get in, start car, get buckled, put on sunglasses, and the system is ready. I can get my seat warmer on in less than 10s. Him pushing on the screen in the frantic way he was at the 30s time was utter bs. No screen will work when you quickly poke around at it like that. Plus, the system is booting up from the moment you open the door, not just starting the engine. He was sitting in it for a long time, so it was all the way off, and he started his timer then 2s later started the car. So, very unscientific experiment. In the real world, using it everyday (as we have), the boot up time is rather insignificant.

Jeff S How's the road noise and engine noise?
@jeffs6090
@jeffs6090 6 жыл бұрын
@@MBisFrenchy the road noise isn't anything real different from other new luxury/premium cars - fairly quiet and very smooth. I drive mostly in the Eco mode, so when punching the peddle, the engine is bit louder than usual. Driving in the normal mode is much better and accelerates very nicely and has a decent growl. I like it. It's not loud and annoying. I have a loaded Momentum black with red leather. I lease a new car every 3 years, and this is the best car I've ever had. I love it! You will too if you're thinking of getting one.

@@MBisFrenchy I'm doing a normal lease. I put 5k down and pay $500 per month. It comes with any and all maintenance needed, just like Care. My insurance is $70 per month through State Farm. So, I pay 30 less than Care, but I don't know if there's any down payment needed for Care, so it may be basically the same in the long run. I was lucky getting this one. I had ordered another car (not a Volvo) entirely and had about 5 cars on my short list (XC40 being one of them. My car was taking longer to come in than I was told. The Volvo salesman called me on a Wed saying a black with red just came in off the truck the day prior. I said to not call anyone else, I'll be in tom. I went in and bought it. They hadn't even cleaned it up yet from delivery, so I drove it home a few days later. They are hard to come by. If they aren't already a preorder, when my dealer gets one, it sells in a few days. There's a huge world wide demand for them.

I read where the latest version of the Polstar tuning option will give rear wheel bias when in dynamic mode.
@stefanpetrut1
@stefanpetrut1 6 жыл бұрын
All 2019 AWD Volvo's with Polestar tuning send more power to the rear wheels when in Dynamic mode and it is more eager to rotate the car. It makes a massive difference.
@myslecinaczej8674
@myslecinaczej8674 6 жыл бұрын
Stefan Petrut no, it is not true for the T8, where an electric motor is much weaker and simply cannot deliver so much power....but at low revs can deliver meaningful torque.
@stefanpetrut1
@stefanpetrut1 6 жыл бұрын
@@myslecinaczej8674 That's actually false. The Electric Motor only delivers 87 HP true, but the torque on it is massive. having driven many T8's... as I work for Volvo and have a lot of experience behind the wheel of them, you can 100% drift a T8 using the instant torque of the electric motor driving only the rear wheels. But, the comment was focusing on polestar tuning on T6's which will send more power to the rear wheels by default. As polestar tuning is not yet an option for T8's, your comment is unjustified.
@myslecinaczej8674
@myslecinaczej8674 6 жыл бұрын
Stefan Petrut so what it false? You said that too: relatively low power and high torque at the rear. At lower speeds it works well, at higher the power band is insufficient, again compared to the front. Remember: that is the power band delivering real performance. Not just peak power, not just high torque. The car still remain front biased on the power delivery.
@Crazyuncle1
@Crazyuncle1 6 жыл бұрын
Stefan Petrut this has nothing to do with the current discussion but since you work for Volvo perhaps you can answer my question. While searching for 2019 Xc90s I noticed that some, in the options list, some featured 4 corner air suspension while others featured 4 corner air suspension w/four-C chassis. Are they both the same thing?

Apparently Volvo score low on reliability and quality on their new cars, but that probably comes down to them being completely new models and there are some issues. Would all be covered by warranty I imagine so I would not worry too much. A few years ago I had a lady here, she had a V70 and she was so frustrated, she wanted it to break or be problematic so she could justify buying a new car, but it just kept going and that one was from 2004. I'm looking forward to Volvo's first mainstream EV offering. Or even mild hybrids. Because I worry that we will have a situation where people buy a new traditional diesel or gas powered vehicle and then sit with a car 3 - 4 years from now that is hard to sell at any reasonable value. Diesels become forbidden in cities, and sooner or later gas/petrol will be too. Thankfully, we are getting affordable good for a family sized EV's this year from other manufacturers. I cant wait to see what they bring and how good they will be! :D

The fact that it takes >30 seconds to have the ECC turn on cannot be by design, there must be some kind of bug here? It should seriously take less than 5s for the fans to get going, and then around 10s before the compressor starts cooling the air down. This has to be addressed by Volvo asap, as it is clearly a matter of adjustment.
