Motor Grader Big Road Grading-Skilled operator

In this video, we had a lot of material to grade. The road is also very wide and the hights of the project road are off so the operator did his best to fix this by his eye.

I've never ran a Volvo motorgrader, but the CATS are pretty good, I prefer the joysticks over the levers.

The Volvo grader is up there with the CAT grader. And I Prefer the levers over the joysticks I don't know why.

I prefer the levers to joysticks. Of course I like the old gear powered levers better than hydraulics also.

I got most of my time learning on a joystick Cat grader as an excavator was the machine I have far and beyond the most hours in so it was easier for me to pickup on. But, now that I've had more time on levers I almost prefer them over the joystick controls depending on what I'm doing. We do a lot of snow removal for winter road maintenance and the graders usually go to our residential county roads with cul-de-sacs so the trucks with one way front plows don't get hung up trying to turn around. For me (which doesn't mean a whole lot as I consider myself only fair to mediocre level operator) I like the joystick machine for this because all the functions are on two sticks instead of trying turn steering wheel, turn circle, lean wheels, articulate, and maybe shift the board whilst trying dump the snow somewhere you can get it again if necessary or dump it clear of a driveway. No curbline or sidewalk around our roads only the paved driveways which helps but often times your going a good clip of speed to keep up your momentum even chained up on all 6 wheels so you don't lose traction in the midst of the turnt-around attempt........even with the diff lock in (not in the articulated turn) we have trouble at times haha. Back to levers now, I know there are truck loads of people who can make this maneuver with their eyes closed and not think twice of it. It just frustrates me as my largest critic that I know it's possible and my OCD comes out so I want to be productive and proficient enough running the machine to not feel as if I need 4 hands and 20 fingers to do it lmao. It's hard though with 20 operators in the shop and really only 2 of them are go to grader pilots, the rest of us get picked at random to run a blade on dirt roads, building road shoulders, and snow season. I'm getting my time anymore when the ground is white which is still hit and miss so ots hard to stay sharp on the controls but still frustrating because I don't get time in the seat.
