NW Oklahoma here & out here there aren’t many dump trucks. Everyone has gone to using belly dumps. Drop a window then the blade just rolls it back and forth a time or 2 & you’re done. Good video it’s just that things are done differently.

Folks, this operator IS NOT a blade hand. And he ain’t slow. Them low gears are built in for a reason that a keyboard cowboy won’t understand. This feller could blue top if there was still such a thing. For you armchair operators, blue topping was a grade stake driven into the sub grade with the top at grade level. Blue chalk was rubbed on top of it so operator could see it. Blue top operator could cut the blue chalk off without touching stake. That’s the kind of operating that this feller is doing. And as for the dump truck, he’s putting the material exactly where and how the “blade hand” wants it.

A decent dump operator will set his chains correctly and spread his load so the blade hand can make his pass without having to cut down piles of material. That truck driver need to get back to basics.

Tailgating is an art and highly dependent on how moist the base is. This looks like Europe, where rain could come any time, so base is probably wet af.

Way to slow not bad if you have 20 min between trucks but if you want any production on the job way to slow. The job site I drove grader on we had a belly dump every 5 minutes he would have been let go.

truck driver doesn't have a clue and the operator needs to equalize the material into a windrow.........and yes I have 35 +years in the seat, past Public Works Director, current Highway Superintendent
