Motor Repair - Old Vintage Singer Sewing Machine Motor Repair - Simanco 193231

I will show you how to open an old singer sewing machine motor.
The motor did not work initially. It came with an old machine I bought but did not have the foot pedal and the pulley is broken.
The trick here is to open it and clean it as I show you.
Buy the fibreglass brush that is essential to clean all connections as shown at the start of the video, do it to every connection.

As some else mentioned, lithium grease should not be used in sewing machine motors. In fact, it should never be used on any part of a sewing machine. There is a specific singer brand grease that you can purchase online for these motors. Even petroleum jelly would be better. Also, I didn't see you do any cleaning of the brushes, commutator, or anything else. What these motors need most of the time is a thorough cleaning with rubbing alcohol to remove all the carbon dust inside. It seems that you took it apart, tested for short circuit, then put it back together

@Aai Aai thanks for sharing, as I saw in an old sewing machine repair manual to use this and wondered if ok to do! I cannot buy try-flow clear synthetic grease where I am (except for big money).

Not sure that lithium grease is the best choice for a plain bearing... So what did you do that made the motor work again?

Appreciate this. I have a Singer BA3-8 motor for a Singer 15-75 which is similar to this and I was unsure how to open it up to clean the commutator. Now to reseat the brushes! The BA3-8 motor is supposed to use an oil wick, not grease, but I don't see any wick.

Nice video sir, i have the same motor but it doesn't have a pulley, speed control and the bulb holder. Here i can't find them, help me to get even a good second hand. Let me know how much it costs.

We just did everything but check the electricity on our Singer 201K motor that looks just like this. It works, but it buzzes....do I'm assuming the electrical is no good? I'd love a tutorial that goes into changing out the wires. and making it new n fresh. I

Did you clean out the foot pedal? Take apart and clean the little carbon discs? I did with a 99, runs very quietly now. Before was just humming very loudly.
