You guys lost me at the 4 minute mark when you said the STI was more technologically trick. I love my STI but sorry, the EVO is the one with the trick powertrain. It's got active yaw control, real torque vectoring, and a selectable drive modes for different terrain. It's still sharper. It's still got more kick. Yes, the STI is more updated but more trick it is not.

That Lancer/Evo body was designed in 2007 and still has no equal. In my view the designers studied the lines on the 99/00 Gallant (my first Mitsu). Meanwhile Sub have updated the Impreza several times with no luck. This one actually looks like they tried to emulate (read steal) the front of the 9yr old Evo and also the brake vent on the front wheel arcs. Sad. But now that Evo is out of the game they should just copy everything unapologetically or tell daddy (Toyota) to buy out the Lancer/Evo patents from Mitsu :)

take a look at a 1999 subaru impreza (GC8) and compare it to the 2015+ wrx/sti. that's where the styling of the front end came from.

chucko83 yup... when i had all my wrx line up, i currently own a gc8 ( my favorite subaru), bug eye wrx converted to stI, and own a blob eye fully built w a cisworth engine, i also had the 15 wrx (traded for evo fe)... never once, did i see the similsrities between the wrx 15 and gc8 (they were always next to each other)... we use to see the progression of the design, how subarus got waaay bigger comoare to previous modeld, and how drastic they changed styles, snd how the latest look very similar to the evo x, at leadt the fascia... so yeah, i compared the 15 wrx for 2 years (how long i owned), with my ither subaruss and not once, did it resemble the gc8..

Evo all day everyday. Its a way of life. If you want a daily driver buy an STI. If you want something special to build into your own buy an Evo. Times change but hopefully with Nissan involved more with Mitsubishi, they will bring it back in a new dominate form like the GTR came back. But much love and respect to both cars and the fans.

I don’t think the “most updated” argument holds weight when you consider that outside of the transmission, the sti has ancient internals. They’re both pretty old cars yet subaru’s feels older. Imo the best car to get in that price range would be a Type R, Audi S3, or Mustang GT if we’re going to make those arguments.

the only and absolute only reason why the evo x still barely tops the sti is because of the factory forged mahl pistons, which makes it so you can handle way more power and torque than an sti when modded, that's why the 4b11t is a superior race engine than the ej25. otherwise at this point subaru has finally caught up right behind the sti.

The Evo X I got is fully loaded with much better interior than the base Evo. A lot more soft plastics in the door area , leather stitched side panels, leather/cloth heated Recaro seats, illuminated blue lights that light up the floor board, a nice e-brake wrap and better shifter, rockford sound system, aero body kit, improved sound dampening, the doors close very solid like a luxury car, bigger than stock infotainment touch screen with great navigation, blue tooth, satellite radio, LID adaptable headlights, ect. I'm only saying this because there are actually options for a nicer interior if you're willing to spend the extra cost but most people don't care. I bought it used with 4k miles and I'm assuming the guy who had it before me custom built it on the sight and had it delivered or it was a show room floor model. Unfortunately the base models interior are pretty bad other than the recaro seats which did not come with the American versions in 2015 only.

After owning both hands down I enjoy my 2020 STI better than my old 2008 EVO X GSR! The STI just feels alot more refined and better overall fee plus you now get the 6 pot Brembos which have a meatier grip than the 4 pots. The Recaros have been back since 2018 in the STI and imo are alot more comfortable than the old Recaros in the 2008-2014 Evo X. With the updated internals since the 2018 STI RA the STI can take more of a beating than it could before. I had the EVO about 4 years and then got a 2017 WRX Premium! I just got the STI 2 months ago and would never go back! The Evo was fun but I feel the 2020 STI with with outgoing ej motor and updated internals just out performs the Evo X!

Funny how Mitsubishi with the as quoted lower budget created a car with a stronger power train capible of 400 whp with blowing engine ringes or gear box. I guarantee if you put the cars around a track the evo produce a quicker lap time

After owning a evo 10 & the sti I can easily safely say the older evo 10 is far superior overall mainly faster and defiantly better round corners oh and the evo seats are far more hugging too the sti seats are bland,and also....contary to what ppl think the drive modes , intelligent ,sports and sports sharp# these only alter the throttle responce....the 300 ish bhp is the same on them modes where as the evo if like the sst gearbox is a animal once put from normal into sport or super sport proper FUN then, and in fact after talking to a tuner mapper once at length the sti's are only pushing out 270 /280 bhp at the best so subaru yet again not delivering what they claim unlike the evo 10 if its a 300 its like 305 bhp in the real world evos also map easier and better.

Cause the US final edition doesn't have the recaro seats. They were taken off due to safety issues like airbag and seatbelt. Only canada gets the recaro seats and right hand drive with the mr bbs rims

i would say if they're speaking on a daily driver POV, i would go 1 model down off each brand. Instead go on a ralliart or wrx, much more fuel eco but still has lot of power and fun to drive as well. im a ralliart owner myself, im still young and can't afford an expensive masterpiece of a car but in time i would still go for an E V O.
