Hello MotorCityMechanic! Quick question: What all is hooked to the radio of a 2015 Chrysler 200? If I remove my broken one, will I still be able to use/drive my car and my heater? Will removing the radio make my car inoperable? I bought a replacement that is the exact same part number. Do you know if it will need to be reprogrammed to my car, or do I just need a radio code? I have that exact radio on my car do u think I'm able to upgrade to the 8.4 screen ? It's a 2016 Chrysler 200 I don't know why the 2015 has the bigger screen and when it comes to the newer model they decide to minimize it .

I purchased a factory camera and my car’s unconnect 5.0 didn’t originally have it. The dealership updated the firmware to recognize a camera, and it turns blue when in reverse, are there wires that are already present that I would need to just attach or solder to the harness or do I need a whole new harness and run it to make the camera work in my 2015 200?

Thanks for the post! This may be a dumb question but I ordered a replacement for my touchscreen (same size and all). I will be installing it but I've read on some forums that the replacement will need to be reprogrammed and can only be done at a dealership...is this true? I called a couple around my area and they are charging close to $200 to program it. ..Can it be done elsewhere besides a dealership who will charge a high amount???

Its hit and miss on what needs to be programmed and what doesnt. The first thing I would do is install it and see what happens. Worse case you need it programmed and best case....nothing is needed. Afternoon Lori. The factory radios do not have that option. Nothing can be plugged in directly like a set of RCA cables. I am sure there is something on the market for that but being a dealer tech......all I see is stock units so I dont know whats exactly avail. Thanks for the question and thanks for watching. Unfortunately, you are correct. Before seeing your reply, I took it all apart. But thanks to your video, I took it apart very easily. I even started in the upper left corner like you explained. Great video. They do sell a ''line output converter" for like $8. you have to splice it to your factory radio harness...and wahlaaa, you now have rca jacks. I didn't want to touch my factory wires, so I jumped off the rear factory speakers to supply audio to my amp. works just as good. The hard part was hiding all the wires so it looked clean. I am having a problem that my 2015 200c 8.4 navigation is loosing my position. I end up driving through fields and on the wrong roads. I get a warning about my phone is malfunctioning (with a image of my rear view mirror). Also my time stops moving. I just ran out of warranty about 2000 miles ago. Any idea what’s going on? I’m assuming it’s the radio but hoping is just the rear view mirror. Thanks if you can help.

Morning, when it comes to issues with the radios.......I always recommend checking to see if there are any updates. Updates fix alot of issues. You may need to visit the dealer to see if the software is current and if not, have the update done. Thats where I would start first

You sure can....I know that Mopar makes an add on kit for most vehicles so it’s a clean factory look. Not too sure what’s on the market other then that. Feel free to check with infotainment.com as well

Thank you for the video. I have a 2015 chrysler 200 limited with the exact same radio. Never plugged any aux or usb cords into it. Never touched or tried to remove it. One day it quit putting out any sound. i checked the amp fuse under the hood and it's good. unplugged battery cables for about 10 min also and didn't help. radio still powers up and has full functionality....but no sound. Any past experience, knowledge and advice would be GREATLY appreciated. o

First step will always check for codes and see if there is a software update for that radio......it will require having the dealer check to see if the update is avail and also to download it and install it in the vehicle. So my radio works on the touchscreen . But none of my manual knob controls work as in volume or ac function on the middle dash section. Wats my problem

Only time I have come across this is if someone did a repair recently and left that portion unplugged. Otherwise it would take a scanner that can access all the modules to see what might be going on and to monitor the data. I own a 2015 Chrysler 200 Limited and it had the 5.0 uconnect radio/ touch screen in it. It looks exactly like the one you show in the video but you call it the 8.4 radio but it's not. At least in mine it's not. So based on the fact that mine came with the 5.0 uconnect, can that be replaced with a unit that has navigation and if so will I lose all these functions that are controlled by the 6 buttons (3 on each sides for the radio? Such as the climate control features, and all the other stuff? Thanks,Lee

+Lee Jones Thanks for watching. When I mentioned 8.4 I was talking in general because in some vehicles the 8.4 came in 4 different versions. I mainly kept the video somewhat generic as the title mentions and not stay on mentioning just one size radio. I haven't had the opportunity to do any kind of swap when it comes to these vehicles. People have asked me about this repair a few times and each time I check with my parts department they say that it cant be changed. In previous years it wasn't anything difficult to swap a radio.....the newer radios do so much in these newer vehicles that the vehicle is basically built around its operation. I haven't seen anything so far online about a swap so I cant say for 100% certainty if you can or can not so I don't want to give you the incorrect info. If I come across anything then I will try to let you know. Also if you find anything out, post it here for others to see as well. Thanks again and make sure to subscribe

Darrell Day It shows to have an RA3 radio. The RA4 radios come from the factory with NAV activated already. The RA3 is able to be activated. It requires purchasing the upgrade. The cost can be as much as +$600.00! Ouch. I can verify it for sure when I get back to work on Monday if you like

Issai Lopez nah. I got a good FM transmitter, so the sound quality is still good though. I’m hoping when I go in to see the dealer next time they’ll do a soft reset or something to troubleshoot it

if you want navigation on any new Dodge or Chrysler product I would strongly suggest that you choose are the audio upgrade with the 8.4 inch display with Nav otherwise if you try to swap out the 5.0 none Nav unit you'll lose all functionality of the other available features so I would not suggest it ..

Same thing just happened to mine too. The Little yellow A/C light on the A/C push button is out too. The radio makes intermittent noise for a fraction of a second like it's trying to come back on but it doesn't. On mine it seems there is possibly a short somewhere. POS car lol

My guess is they make it a tight fit so nothing creeks or vibrates.

Hmmmmm Can I go to a junk yard and get a factory nav radio from a 300 and plug n play into my 200 The only thing I could see needed is a factory reflash. Right?

The NAV radio requires a GPS antenna and if the 200 doesnt have one....well it just wont work correctly. Some radios require a security code when they are swapped to another vehicle so that also might become an issue. I cant promise you 100% it will.......havent tried it myself as of yet

if you have satellite radio does that mean you have the navigation antenna

+mo4everable I would need to have the VIN of the specific vehicle to check. It states if it comes with NAV and Sat radio...then they will be together in one assembly. Otherwise if it doesn't come with NAV I cant be certain. They may make more then one type of antenna due to what features/options it has. The VIN would let me know.

Hello, I need some help with my Radio settings. I bought used car 2015 chrysler 200 limited and it had aftermarketplace radio installed in it with. Unfortunately it had no climate control settings or options. Few days ago i had to replace my battery and i lost the original climate setting ( the air settings, it is on foot mode right now and could not change it since there is no option to change it ). I took my car to dealership and they said to change the aftermarket radio back to original factory radio ( $800 for radio + $330 for labor). Thats huge amount of money on used car. I also checked the used radio on ebay but i have question. if i buy a used radio will i need to reprogramming and who can do that other than dealers because dealers are not ready to fix the used part. If anyone has any idea or alternate solution please ....
