I have this same question. My guess is that the idle air channel / pilot jet are just not designed to do all of the work of keeping a bike alive at idle

Something I'm still a bit lost on. When my bike accelerates, but I'm careful enough that the rpm stays relatively the same (even drops a little) my bike is using more fuel, right? has to be, if energy is now being converted to producing torque. Is this because I've changed the fuel/air ratio? (Not a scientist or a mechanic, btw)
