In my country protective gear is mandatory including helmets. Its not until you have really bad accident does the penny drop about hooning around in a T shirt. I'm glad he's ok. The real problem with bikes (50 years experience here) is any accident usually results in injury. Often to the legs and pelvis. I get belittled when I make comments, I used to race for years and the only time I ever got hurt was out on public roads. Motorcycles are very hard to see from inside a car with the air con on and music playing. When you do come off the most dangerous things are the cars around you, the bike hitting you and guard rails. Right outside my place here in Sydney a biker came barrelling down the breakdown lane in heavy traffic. He did not see the 4wd turning cross and center punched it at 80kph. he went over the roof and landed about 20 mtres down the road. Fortunately two off duty cops were right there and did all the meical stuff until the ambos got there. He had six broken ribs, a shattered shoulder, broken pelvis and exposed broken femur. H was lucky yo survive. The driver of the 4wd went into shock at the scene. They both went into the hospital. He's still there 4 months later.

I use hard plate over longer bones, Lower and upper leg, whole arm, and chest. Also have jeans to go against sliding(nowdays a lot of different style). its hard to tell that have any gear on if use looser cloth, it protects from slide and impact. For him, probably walk away with pain, but that's it. If really want to dress for the ride, just put over all of that sht, and nobody knows, using it ain't pussy sht.

There is nothing better guaranteeing a couple of months in hospital. than coming off at 120kph wearing a T Shirt and shorts. At 200? You die. I witnessed the carnage many times. We ride most weekend and most of us are ex racers. On a club day weekend run we were over taken by some fool. WE were on the speed limit of 110 and he must have been doing 140. Ten minutes later we saw the result. He had come off on a corner with a tightening radius. On one leg, hip and right arm all the flesh and muscle had been ground away. You could see the bone. We called 000 and the ambos arrived in about ten minutes along with the cops. Shock set in quickly so he didnt feel much and the body tightened the arteries. Off he went on the stretcher. Later that day we went to the hospital to hand over his personal items. he was facing multiple skin grafts. He lost his leg as there was nothing to heal. Back again three days later. He was grey in the face with the pain. He was there for a month. But many guys do think its being a sissy. Not if you see something like this.

I follow motomadness and multiple channels everyday, what I can see there is, some of the bikers attitude is SHIT. Idk if the channels are to comfort the people that sent the clips or just to add anything, no real message from the creator. But many of the crashes irl happen because you just expect too much of people and/or you have way too big EGO to worry about. I believe responsible and smart driver wouln't have a problem even in everyday traffic. First see to confirm, then go, and must not forget, people are DUMB. I haven't crash a single time by bike in past 6years I've ridden, and I have ridden 3years in Taiwan(absolutely ridiculous traffic), only few slip outs at 80's but not a scratch, and again, nobody can see a difference in terms of gear.

In Australia motorcycling is very popular because you can go for great ride weekeds away and cover big distances. Most serious bikers (as opposed to bikies) belong to a club and there are activities for everyone from racing to just cruising. Just getting a license is difficult. It was made so because too many bikers were getting killed. You have to attend a safety course over a few weekends when you made aware of the dangers. You go out with your yellow learners plate in supervised groups. The bikes are supplied. When the supervisors are satisfied that you have the correct attitude, are proficient and have purchased a good helmet and protective clothing, you are given a permission to purchase form. At that point you can buy a bike that has low power to weight ratio, like a 250cc. You go to the motorvehicle dept and get a P1 provisional license. The speed limit for you is 80kph. In the first year if you are booked for any offence you go back to the training scheme. You also have a zero limit on alcohol. After this year you can upgrade your P1 to a P2 that allows a speed increase to 90kph. Then at the third year you get a P100 for a 100kph limit. After that year you can apply for a full license with normal speed limits and you can purchase a more powerful bike. Its a good system and deaths dropped by 70%. If you are convicted of serious road offences you can be sent back to start the whole process again and its a huge embarrassment with your mates.

Actually, you should (if you have time) get a course on taking off helmets. It's very dangerous to keep the helmet on after a crash as it can cause your airways to be blocked or aid with the blockage or shortage of breath. Therefore taking it off (as slowly and carefully as possible) is key to survival in many situations. However you'd have something under his head so it's supported when the helmet is off, like a pillow or something.

When I was 9, me, my dad, and my sister where riding our bikes and my sister was going fast, and I wanted to prove that I could go fast too.. so I sped up, and something terrible happened. So my back wheel slid off the side walk and into the grass, my front wheel was on the side walk. So I thought if I used my brakes, it would just stop and I could fix it.. ( I had hand brakes at the time ). So I did the wrong brake, and I squeezed it hard because I was scared, and I flipped. So here's how I flipped.. I stopped so fast that it flipped me, my wrists in a way wrapped around the handles, it probably fractured it, then I was free from that and went flying forwards... I tried to catch my self, but my arm broke under the weight of my body and in that fast speed.

Everything you said at the end of this vid is 120% correct! I'm so glad to hear hes doing good, I hit a patch of sand in the center median on a right hand bend doing in the rang of 90-mph and speed wobbled into a curb and immediately smacked head on into a tree...It felt like it only took a millisecond from start to finish but I suffered a broken neck in two places, broke my back in two places, shattered my right knee cap, in a coma for 6 weeks from brain swell and above all I lost the use of my whole left arm from the shoulder to my finger tips!!! I was lucky to be wearing my helmet that day or to simply put it I just wouldn't be hear today without it. Its amazing what us as human beings can withstand and recover from an still make it out alive in the end. Marcos I'm glad you are still with us... P.S. I didn't want to make any of this about me but I like to use myself as an example of why you cant push the limits in life cause you never know when it just might be your last! P.S.S. If a motorcyclist crashes with a car on the highway, usually only the rider gets hurt (severely). While the car driver is fine but a shock, the rider has to fight for his live. If two cars crash on the highway, it usually ends with both cars ready for the scrapyard and the drivers/passengers wounded severely. So guess what, driving a car is just as dangerous as driving a motorcycle.

I was a paramedic for 35 years and have scraped up more people than I can count that tried to turn themselves into greasy oil slicks on the highway. Also having been a rider, I understand the freedom and allure to the speed. The lesson in all of this is to obey the laws, wear the safety gear, and drive defensively. I realize that this isn’t the prescription for awesome KZbin videos. It is, however, a very good idea for those who want to grow older and keep enjoying the riding. Take a Motorcycle Safety Foundation class and let these guys do the crazy stuff. Saying “It won’t happen to me” is pretty much a guarantee that someday it will.

So glad he's ok, but I'm also loving the message he gave.. my dad raced in the 70's at the RACETRACK! I was on a motorcycle by the time I was like 2, there used to be pics of me up at the fence at the starting line. He had a 73 Triumph and I will never forget the memories of riding with my dad. He stopped racing by the time I hit kindergarten but I was a daddy's girl through and through loved all things fast and classic like his 65 GTO, and loved going to watch drag races I wanted to race a funny car(look it up if your young) lol But decided the GTO was what made my dad feel better about me racing. He passed before we could do it, anyway sorry kudos to Marcos for his positive message!

Snewj, you have 100k+ subscribers bro. I am asking for a huge favor here and i know it may be something that sounds annoying at first but hear me out. Can you make a video that stresses the importance of wearing full-protective gear? I know dressing for comfort is hella reasonable, but at the same time man we gotta be out on these streets wearing helmet, gloves, full jacket, pants with armor and boots (not tennis shoes). Look the only reason im asking you specifically is because i know youre a cool dude, and riders tend to follow whats cool. Would you be able to make wearing full gear cool in someway man... i think its a good way to make a positive impression on riders man. This poor guy that fell on the fwy in this vid, do you think some of his injuries could have been minimized if he was in full gear? Thank you snewj, much respect to you and your channel from Cathedral City (Palm Springs, CA)

Totally forgot to add man, if youre ever in Palm Springs man, ill buy you a beer bro. I got a Duc also, a 696 monster. Id be more than happy to let you ride it man.

Bro you can find thousands of gear videos from known riders on here advising the idea of full safety gear what to wear and such. You CAN not though find videos on telling people how they need to ride or what they NEED to wear. This is a back and forth argument for sure with a lot of riders.

ColdToiletSeats snewj don't even ride reckless like that tho,you car guys need to understand that even if your not doing 130+ you can still go down, that's just how it is for bikers eventually it will happen,it's a dangerous lifestyle riding sports bikes you just have to always be prepare incase something goes wrong.

MB World Me (as a biker) can back up his statement though. Many bikers go 130 weaving through cars, and it's horrible. If you hit something, there's a very high chance you'll be killed. The max I go on the highway is 110 in gear. This guy had no gear and was going easily 90
@mbcannon

Clax Yh he was definitely going fast because it was a speed wobble that took him down, not saying it's right because he was being reckless just hope he learns from it

Been there. Shattered shoulder, broken right arm, 8 ribs, shattered pelvis, lacerated kidney, liver and spleen, punctured lung, ripped open my right lower side, subderal hematoma. All I could think was "get up, get up, you can't tell your daughters, this will devastate them". Brain surgery, mesh in my stomach to hold everything in, multiple chest tubes, IV's, catheter (yay). 2 weeks ICU, another 2 weeks before being transported to a month stay at inpatient rehab. A year of outpatient. I made it bro. And I was 48. You can too. Be well.

It's really heart-breaking when you hear about a wreck. On a motorcycle it's really dangerous, and you have to accept that the first time you get on, you're risking your life. The ride is wonderful, but once you go down. It can be real hard to get back on. My dad, grandma, grandpa, and I are all apart of a motorcycle ministy ive known a couple people to die on a motorcycle, and ive known some to survive a bad accident on 1. The best thing you can do is to watch out. A lot of cars don't even look for motorcycles. So you have to. Also make sure you are doing the speed limit so you don't fly off.

This is why we should wear proper bike gear when riding. And why we should not go over what we are used to (in speed). This is probably important to other bikers, so they know how to make sure they don't get in such a bad accident Or worse.. But I'm glad he's recovering well, I hope he'll get back to biking soon xx 😁
