Finding free motorcycle parts shouldn't be that hard to do. As bikers we are all in this together, and in my opinion should look to help each other out as best we can . If you are truly a motorcycle enthusiast and love the machines and the lifestyle that goes along with it , our goals are the same . Of course I'm not suggesting everything out there should be given away for free ,thats ridiculous for sure . But I am suggesting that you have a quick look through your pile of long forgotten parts and see if theres some little treasure out there that you no longer care about and could easily pass along to a needy bike somewhere on this planet . You'll make someones day , and trust me ,thats worth way more than you may think .

I gave up restoring old bikes for the reason of people cost gouging parts and the joy wasn't worth the hole in my pocket (especially once covid hit and shipping went crazy) - I do get the logic of giving stuff away that we don't need, just wish more people thought like that. Also well done on the video, its chill and makes you feel like your just hanging out :)

Hey Boltonky , I get what you mean, good sir .It's really unfortunate that price gougers took the wind out of your sails in the bike restoration game .And also ,as you mentioned, shipping costs are make things even worse .But don't give up ,you obviously have a passion for working on engines ( I saw that short you posted on you channel, very cool) Thanks very much for your great comments and also subscribing. Cheers my friend 🍻

Believe it or not my dad has given away small rare 2 stroke stuff to strangers in the past for that exact reason. We've all been there, looking for 1 seemingly mundane thing that would change everything for us, and NOBODY has it. That same guy recently sent me an RZ part from his country that wasn't shipping to mine and I couldn't find anywhere else. 😁😁😁

As you know it's hard to throw stuff away that isn't junk but has no immediate use .And over time we lose track or forget about it .So it's not a bad idea to move things along to those who may be in need .Thanks for watching and commenting Bill , cheers 🍻

ORGINAL VIDEO IDEA.! I've probably watched more MotoVids then the vast majority of others as I started watching off & on in 2009. I have never seen a video idea like this one, and it make total sense. I agree with you if you have an old Bike sitting around LABLE IT really well (so that label lasts for year and year) Especially if you know the Style, Year, Make, Model, Edition, Version, Miles or kms etc, etc.!

Thanks AngelFace .You make a fantastic point on what I should have done with some of the parts I have laying around. Labeling would help in a massive way .Half of the stuff on the shelf I've forgotten what they belong to .But moving forward from now on I'll make an effort to I.D. everything better and move it along to people who can use it .It just makes sense. Thanks again AngelFace Cheers 🍻

I was actually meaning your VIEWERs Should take your Advice & Label what they have sitting around doing nothing. eg. Grampa has a couple old Bikes in the barn, someone should ask Grampa what they are & label them with good details.

We used to have a motorcycle scrapyard in town. It closed and sat abandoned for about a year. Then someone bought the property, and everything was carted off to a metal recycling facility. Right now I need a carb float for my '74 Honda CL450, so I'll be searching Ebay because nothing is available locally.

Hi Carport Chronicles It's sad to hear that the parts in your old scrap yard went to the melting pot .What an unfortunate end to some undoubtedly valuable parts . I am visiting a great vintage motorcycle shop tomorrow and will see if they have what you're looking for in their vast warehouse of parts .Maybe they will be able to help you out .

I appreciate the thought, but I am in the states and the cost of shipping and dealing with customs would likely be more than the part is worth. I should be able to find a complete parts carb fin eBay for a reasonable price. I prefer using good used parts, when I can find them, as opposed to reproductions. Original parts are usually made better and fit properly. I also have a vintage VW Beetle, and just completed a five-year search for good, original, front bumper. It perfectly matches the original condition of the Bug and I got it for free from another VW aficionado.

@Michael Murdock I understand, you make a valid point .Unfortunately, shipping and customs could make the costs unrealistic. I love hearing that you were able to find a front bumper for your bug for free..Thats what it's all about .People helping people for no other reason than kindness and a common passion. Priceless!

Most of the time we all have bits sitting around the place we don't even know we have, I know I do. More for cars though than bikes in my case. But yeah indeed move it along to someone that is in need of it for free and help a fellow out. And hey Awesome on the sub numbers as well 734 I see that's brilliant soon you will hit 1K. Love your work buddy and what editing program are you using?

Hey Roland ,I knew you would be able to relate to this video as you are obviously a proper hands on mechanic in the bike and car world . And easily understand both sides of the equation . Yes the sub numbers are climbing lately for some reason , not sure why but I'll run with it for sure .Your sub numbers are up there too at 696 we are both closing in on 1K ,How crazy is that ? Thanks for the positive vibes ,as always my friend . Regarding the editing software ,I'm using Davinci Resolve 18 .Its way over my head but somehow I'm muddling my way through it . I'm trying to remember what you mentioned your software of choice was ...is it Final Cut Pro ?
