Ive not visited that part of Lincs,, but I did a ride out to Alkborough which is just across the Trent from Blacktoft sands.. I was investigating "Julians Bower". Even after googling I thought it so strange and thought I better take a peep..... 1st law of motorcycling,, if you do,nt take your water proofs,it will rain !!!!!

Thanks for watching hope you found it interesting. Not come accurate Julians Bower before so that's got my interest, will Google it later. The problem with the Spitfire is that it can't accommodate any panniers so I have to take a back pack to carry anything and I don't really like that. Anyway next time I'll just have to put up with it😂 Cheers

Yes, they keep telling us that weather predictions are pretty accurate now with all this fancy computer modelling and global network of satellites but there often way out in reality. Thanks for watching. Cheers.

I enjoyed the video very much mostly because i didn`t get wet🙂but you made the best of it Rog.The weather forcasts are mostly wrong or let me say different to what is forcasted so you almost expect it to be otherwise.I think the bike is super with a nice exhaust rumble and she looks really good too.Thanks for taking me with you,by the way the weather hier in Austria is about 1 degree cold and a lot of snow about 10 to 20 inches high,hope we have white christmas cheers Pete🍀🍀🍀

Thanks Pete, to be honest I normally don't believe weather forecasts but that particular day it just didn't occur to me to take the waterproofs😅😅 The Spitfire is a great bike, but now tucked up in the garage as winter had arrived for us and we're currently experiencing sub zero temperatures and snow. Oh well, still got the Himalayan for when it gets above freezing. 😅😅 Cheers.

Thanks for another interesting combined history and geography lesson old-n-Goldie. That bike is very photogenic. Watch any three weather forecasts for the same place and you soon realise a pair of eyes and a wet finger in the air are probably just as reliable 😁. Cheers, Mick

To be honest Mick, I don't take any notice of weather forecasts but it was a beautiful day when I set out. Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it. Cheers.

Omg, when did you do this? Lovely ride (again) and in time to use as a pick-me-up as I sit here with just 4x4s and snow ploughs passing by outside. It's -1°C with no sign of it changing for a while... come to sunny Switzerland the tourist guy said! But honestly though, up in the Alps it really is beautiful but, here in the lowlands, life's a bit drab right now. Yep, winter is here. Enjoy your "fine" english weather, I'm thinking, as I try to decide between a Cuppa or a double Single Malt!

Thanks Steve, glad you enjoyed it. This was filmed in September I think, but as I write this the temperature outside is also -1and falling. There's snow in many places so winter has also arrived here unfortunately.❄️❄️❄️ I am hoping to get out on the Himalayan over winter so I can film more rides to post. By the way, there's no contest, has to be single malt every time🥃🥃 😅😅 Cheers.

Never trust the weather forecast or app reports!lol. I haven’t done the loop between Swinefleet & Luddington yet, but it’s been on the meaning to do for ages. Again some great local info, especially the clock. Can’t see me getting out much now until March arrives 😢.

Yes, they seem to get it right do they. Thanks for the comments Martin, glad you enjoyed it. The Spitfire and Goldie have both been tucked up in the garage now for the winter but now I've got the Himalayan I still intend to get out when it's not icey. Cheers.

How are you finding the Himalayan?
@old-n-Goldie
@old-n-Goldie 10 ай бұрын
@@martinowlthe Himalayan is going great so far. It's very easy to ride and though the engine is, let's say quite mild, it's ample for this type of bike. I don't worry about having to keep it clean. Done just over 1000 miles on so far and apart from a couple of slight niggles I'm very happy with it. Fitted heated grips now so great on these cold days.

Great to hear, obviously outright power is not its thing, if you are prepared for that, then you can explore its good points.

very interesting ,,, you keep yourself young by going from a modern hand built special right back to a 1940's harley ;;; what is the ccm like ??? it seems to make light work of this trip ...
@old-n-Goldie
@old-n-Goldie 10 ай бұрын
Yes, I like the contrast between the four bikes I have and each one is enjoyable in its own way. The CCM is animal of the group though in a mild way. Because it doesn't suffer from the same emissions constrictions as the BSA and Enfield, performance is quicker and the whole bike gives a more 'raw' experience. Its so light that, despite having fat tyres front and back, the handling is very nimble. The loud exhaust adds to the experience too.😂😂 I love it, but it's really a good weather bike😂 Cheers.

Enjoying these rambles and commentary plus picture quality up to 4K on this video, looks great on a large screen. I used to visit for project work at Finningley so know some of the area. Have you changed the camera or just the settings?
@old-n-Goldie
@old-n-Goldie 10 ай бұрын
Thanks, glad you're finding them interesting. Thought I'd try 4k as I recently changed my editing software and the new one can export the video in that format. This footage was shot a while ago so wasn't in the idea resolution but I've now changed the camera settings to a higher resolution that should work better for future 4k offerings. Cheers.

That CCM sounds good, especially when the exhaust note can bounce off walls and the like. It slightly resembles the eBike Maeving RM1 at first glance. Are you still pleased with the Beeline? Mine is still waiting to be mounted. Can't wait to try it out next spring, as I don't like big chunky things mounted on the bars, All snowed up here now, so that gives me time to get it mounted.
@old-n-Goldie
@old-n-Goldie 10 ай бұрын
Yes, it really does have a good exhaust note doesn't it. The Beeline works well, in fact I was using it on part of this ride as some of the area was new to me. It fits in great with the CCM as well as its so small it doesn't upset the naked looks. Glad I went for one, very satisfied with how it works.

Most enjoyable, thank you for sharing your ride. I just hate it when it rains on a ride, especially when no rain is forecast. It’s not so much for me, but I don’t like getting my bike all splashed up and then having to clean it again. Your route brought back happy memories of my dad taking me to Google docks, many years ago, when it was a thriving port. We often used to go there as an excursion when visiting my grandma who lived at Askern. Yes, I remember the tragic event at Flixborough, it was well covered by the National news. So thanks again, look forward to the next one, best wishes. BTW, which do you prefer riding, the CCM and the BSA ?
@old-n-Goldie
@old-n-Goldie 10 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comments, glad you enjoyed it. Yes, it's the cleaning of the bike afterwards that's the pain😅 I live not far from Askern, so know it quite well. I can't say that I have a preference between the BSA and CCM as they're a bit like chalk and cheese. Though the engine power is similar, the way its delivered is quite different. The BSA is more of an all-rounder whereas the CCM is a bit of a raw but mild animal compared to it. CCM - faster acceleration and much louder but has firm suspension. BSA - fast enough but smoother and more forgiving suspension. Basically I love em both depending on what sort of ride I'm in the mood for 😂😂 Cheers.

How does the CCM compare to the Goldie Rog?
@old-n-Goldie
@old-n-Goldie 10 ай бұрын
A bit like chalk and cheese Andrew. Goldie is a good all rounder. Smooth, comfortable, room for luggage and pretty good in wet weather. Al thd CCM is more of an animal. Similarly power output but the way it delivers it is quite different. He doesn't have the same emissions restrictions so the noise and power delivery give a much more 'raw' experience. Firmer suspension, practically no weather protection and no luggage capacity. I love them both but in totally different ways. Cheers.
