Whoa! Riding in the opposite lane on the switchbacks? I'm glad no cars were coming. Nice video; it inspires talking points in a riding class.

I’m glad there was no on coming traffic as well. Luckily we could see well in advance of the sharp switchbacks and know we were safe taking as much space as we needed to make the sharp uphill switchbacks. By far the most challenging ride I’d taken.

I’m only about two years in riding a motorcycle I ride a 2013 Harley ultra classic and the wife and I plus best friend rode up grandfather mountain last month and I’m not one bit afraid to admit it. I found it pretty damn rough with a passenger. My recommendation is hang back if there’s traffic in front of you so you can have enough speed in the turns I got behind a van that was very slow, moving, causing me to have some issues.

Thanks for the awesome video! I plan on going to Grandfather Mountain for the first time but I'm not that great of a driver (learned in my 30s). If I veer off can we ACTUALLY die from the height or will the trees and boulders block us?

you ride too close to the bike in front of you. you are pushing them to go faster than they are comfortable and both of your lines thru the corners are just atrocious. back off and give each other plenty of space. you will find that each has rider has their own rhythm and can settle into a comfortable approach and carve a decent line thru the turns. then it becomes a thing of beauty like flying..
