Having spent 2 days laying in my tent, the rain has finally gone. Now I can leave Fidden Farm Campsite at Fionnphort and head towards Mull's capital town, Tobermory.
Along the way however and unknown to me, the lingering Scottish mist plays havoc with the helmet camera . . .

A 'few" years ago I sat out a true "S.O.B." of a thunderstorm (in a small tent) just a few miles south of our own Tobermory, here in Ontario, Canada. The thunder and lightning was non-stop for hours. What a racket! It was a very rocky and wooded area and at the height of the storm there was a small stream running through the tent! The landscapes that you are travelling through remind me of parts of Newfoundland, and for good reason. They were once all part of the same land mass before the Atlantic Ocean existed. Swap the sheep for moose and there you have it. Roundabouts are making quite the inroads (pun?) in parts of Canada.
@CountryHouseGent
@CountryHouseGent 2 ай бұрын
Blimey that sounds like quite the storm. I do enjoy the sound of rain or hale on the tent, but not so much in it. 😳 I suppose we're all on the same landmass if you take the oceans away. 😁

@CountryHouseGent

Hi Glenn and thank you. Standing on the footrests with the knees slightly bent helps to smooth out any jarring shocks through the buttocks and spine when the road surface gets rough - and it's also a good way to stretch the legs and gives you a more commanding view of the surroundings.

I noticed that you have been mentioning decaf in your videos. I love coffee, but I can get carried away with it. It becomes a slow build of not enough sleep, which eventually turns into a crap attitude. I may have to go with decaf, I enjoy the taste of coffee, so it isn't just about the caffeine. Also, I've just returned from a 4 day E-bikepacking trip, I spent one and a half of those days also waiting out the rain in my tent. Before a new job starts at the end of a month, there will be a week gap after leaving the old one and before starting the new job. I'm using that time to ride to a forest, and camp there. Get a reset in before it's back to work again. Well, great video once again Kevin! Thanks for sharing your travels with us!
@CountryHouseGent
@CountryHouseGent 2 ай бұрын
Thank you so much Jay. Best wishes for the new job and I'm the same way - need a change of scene between projects to reset and recharge. If you're going the decaf route (it's well worth it), I recommend getting coffee that's decaffeinated with the Swiss Water Treatment. Ordinary decafs are done with chemical solvents, and in fact still have a good bit of caffeine (and taste weird in my book). Swiss water decaf is 0.03% caffeine free and the taste is indistinguishable from full strength. You'll probably experience horrible withdrawal symptoms for 4 or 5 days, but it's easily worth it. Sleep is incredible. If using ground coffee, Taylors do one. If having instant, I don't know. 🙂

Would love to see more of each little village. That’s one of the big draws to watching this series. To SEE Scotland by the sea. In this video, you arrived at camp ~1:30 pm. Could you have gone back out to show us around more - town, people, waters edge, etc? It would have been really lovely.
@CountryHouseGent
@CountryHouseGent 2 ай бұрын
The purpose of this series (as I said in the first episode), is to give a taste of what it's like to ride a motorcycle on a road trip. Inevitably of course, I arrive at various villages, towns, structures and campsites along the way, all of which I show in greater or lesser detail. Please appreciate that not only is this a professional filming endeavour, it is also a holiday for me. By the time I've ridden for several hours, concentrated on filming and narrating, then arrived at a campsite, set up camp and backed up the days footage, I've already done enough for that day and look forward to simply relaxing. If however I stay at a campsite for more than one night (as happens several times in this series), the next day I take a stroll around the surrounding area, or neighbouring town/village and film that piece.

I am continually amazed by the lasting design and construction of Scottish (and British in general) towns/buildings/communities. All stone, mostly with slate roof (or metal). Loved the scenery in downtown Tobermory. Your selection of meat pie was awesome, but... would have been hard for me to pass up the Cornish Pasty! Watching you bundle up for your travels is mind boggling to me, considering how hot and humid it is where I live. Thanks Kevin for another great share! @4:35 a perfect example by a Jazz driver (so I'm not surprised) of how NOT to use a passing place. Don't pull in against flow of traffic, even if its a bus approaching. Stop opposite and let oncoming traffic drive in and out of the passing place. The reason being to allow the vehicle in front to stop, oncoming can proceed and those behind can be given the chance to overtake.

Hey Kevin! Early watch for me this week as it’s my ‘Hen do’ tomorrow….busy day planned! So, having Googled why are so many Scottish Island houses white, it looks like I will be Googling why are the houses in Tobermory so colourful! Unless of course you cover it in this episode as I’m only half way through. 😎

Since I had cancer in my right eye the view out of it is very familiar with the helmet cam . Hence I had to give up the privilege of riding since it’s fairly dangerous with two eyes and the spouse won’t let me go out with only one. So this trip is making up for it a bit.

These are the words of Christ addressed to the man he healed, John 5: 14: "Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee." What an unexpected prevention - “sin no more”! Doctors do not pay attention to the role of the Nervous system, which controls all processes and organs in our body. This happened because the deceitful and corrupt clergy of world religions have been disseminating false teachings about the “immortality of the soul” for thousands of years: doctors and scientists who tried to claim that there is an organ in the human body that thinks, feels and controls it, were subjected to severe persecution, even to the point of destruction as heretics, because “the soul is immortal and incorporeal.” This is the word of God, Ezekiel 18: 4: “For behold, all souls are mine: both the soul of the father, and the soul of the son, is mine: the soul that sinneth shall die.” Romans 6: 23: "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Priests brazenly lie all over the world, but those who try to expose their lies are persecuted. The problem is that this world is ruled by the Devil, a liar and a murderer. Therefore, there is good news about God's kingdom: Our Creator, Jehovah God, has appointed a king, Jesus Christ, who will restore order. Even the dead will be resurrected and we will see our beloved ones again. :-) Isaiah 33: 24: "And the inhabitant shall not say, I am sick: the people that dwell therein shall be forgiven their iniquity." Malachi 4: 2: “But for you who fear My name, the Sun of righteousness will rise and healing in His rays, and you will go out and leap like fat calves;” Psalm 83: 18: "That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth."
