Speaking from the perspective of a cop, definitely NEVER pass someone else in the same lane. The only exception is if the other rider yields to you and waves you past. If the front rider decides to go from one lane position to another while you’re passing and you rear end them...it’s 100% your fault.

Thanks. Well said. Also these same rules apply to anything, not just motorcycling. For example guitar players: 1. Give women guitar playing tips (lol HA!) 2. NEVER touch another player's guitar 3. Never touch another guitar player 4. Don't ask to play a stranger's guitar 5. It doesn't matter that you're right if you're dead 6. Don't just try randomly jumping in to play in gatherings (or stage settings) of other musicians 7. Most guitar players are good guys (Also read the Bible for even more wisdom) You may refer to these rules for just about anything you do in life.

In the UK it's normal to pull up next to another bike at a junction, it's where we exchange pleasantries about the weather and other things. I think it's great that bikers do that, people in cars will do their best to not make eye contact with anyone else on the road.

I learned a long time ago that even if you have the right away in certain situations you also have the right to die. Motorcycles will never come out on top pushing the right away. You go down you lose, period. I've been hit twice when I had the right of way. In both instances I was moving cautiously and still got the smackdown. So be safe and alert, you might be one the few who are and live to tell the tale.

This may be a bad idea, but sometimes you have to be over aggressive and a lil douchy, to save yourself. I always separate myself from traffic, i like a 50ft cushion. Two most important rules; 1.A man's bike is like a man's woman so treat accordingly.2. Never pass a stranded biker. Always assume cagers are trying to hit you. Do lend tools "on the road". Do support other bikers i.e. beef and beers and other charible activities for bikers down on their luck. Ride with friends when possible. Study the road surface like you study a beautiful ass.

Hahaha! good one! I have to say that i used to break one of these rules A LOT a couple of years back. In Quebec where i live, when you had a learner's permit you needed to have someone who had his license for more than two years to accompany you to be allowed to ride (they since then revoked this stupid rule). Since i was living far from my bike buddies and sometime wanted to go on an evening ride, i would park beside a near road wich is very popular for bike riding and wait for some bike(s) to pass by. I then would just follow them to be "legal". When at a red light people asked me why i was following them, i explained and it was always a great laugh. Nobody was ever pissed at me for doing it. I even met a girl doing this, but this is another story... P.S. sorry for my grammar, i am a french canadian.

Here's a rule: Don't judge another rider's choice to go ATGATT. To each his own. I've had plenty Harley riders point and comment. I tell them I'd rather take my chances with the heat than the ground. I don't judge anyone's choice to wear t-shirts, shorts, and flip-flops while riding...even though its probably not the smartest thing to do. I've seen up-close and personal what asphalt does to human skin. Ride safe, everyone.

The problem wasn't the weirdness as they were cool with it and we quickly started chatting and having a good time. The problem was that they liked to cruise....at 120mph. These guys took the on-ramp scraping their exhaust pipes. they were all passing cars, using the breakdown lane, just all sorts of reckless hoonigan stuff. After about an hour of this craziness and recklessness I just took another exit and havn't seen them again. That was one of the craziest rides i've ever been on.

I hate when people just walk up and sit on somebody's bike without permission. It's a good way to get yourself seriously injured or even killed.

I have always had a saying, that courtesy kills. For example, at an intersection 2 or three cars will be waving me on because I’m on a motorcycle. So I put the kickstand down and stand up and start stretching to let them know. I am not moving. That’s the easiest way to get killed. Someone waving their hand telling me to go is asking to be run over even though I’m sure they don’t mean to do it on purpose it has happened.

I wouldn't even ask someone I know if I can ride their bike it's not like asking to ride someone's dog, it's more like asking if you can have sex with their girlfriend...it's extremely personal...not to mention the liability issues if anything happens, & just because you've been riding for years doesn't mean you can't pull a rider error, or that someone in a cage isn't going to cause you to wreck either...if you want to ride a motorcycle, BUY ONE...if you can't afford one, sucks to be you...

#5 if there is a left turn lane look out for the guy that is gonna run the red. Your light just turned green and you can totally beat everyone off the line. If your SIPDE is set to OFF, you are either gonna get hit or lock the brake and hit the dirt.

#8 make a little holder for about 3 eggs that you can quickly grab and throw while riding. If the people see you coming, and still pull out in front of you.. Hit their back windows with an egg or 2 to let them know its not okay to pull out in front of bikes.

As a newer rider I picked up the "keep two down" sign quick and always throw it up for oncoming riders. Last week I had a dude ride up next to me at an intersection while I was stopped and fist bump me and we rode a ways together. Would have talked but my bike is too loud lol nothing better than the motorcycle community.

I enjoy you guys and I appreciate what you do. I agree on most points except... Don't pass me in the same lane, unless I waive you by . Period. (I'm not a slow rider so you would also be speeding excessively)

I'll move to the right of the lane to allow a fellow rider to either ride along, or pass. Just don't pass me on the right of the lane without making yourself & and your intentions known...boneheaded move. Had a sportbike do that at 90+mph...didn't see him coming...scared the absolute bejeeezus out of me. If I'd drifted even slightly, we'd both had been a stain on the road.

Yeah I don't know what Sean (the guy in the video) is talking about or where he gets the idea that its ok to pass another rider in their own lane. I mean unless you know the person and are riding with them.

3:09 - you hear that fellow motorcyclists... you kind of own the whole lane where your vehicle is at... but conversely, so do cars. That's why lane splitting or lane filter is bad form and a dead no. Just don't. You're cutting and you're making everything dangerous for everyone. How would you feel about a car filtering between you on your motorcycle and your buddy on a motorcycle next to you? And a car just passes right between you. You'd be like WTF man....

Some of these rules would never apply in France. ex. #1 Most women would flip you the bird and laugh at you, especially if they're riding wayyyy longer than you (and we might even laugh at your flat tires). #6 We all align at the red light, we salute each other. No one owns the line.
