Great ride vlog. We did Ak-New Plymouth April 21st ‘24. Only to be told at the Fat Pigeon cafe, Mt Messenger is closed. We had to double back through the Forgotten World highway. Added 120km and three hours, including a spill, loved every minute of it LOL. 😂

@@PanRider939 Shame about the spill 😬. That part is never fun! The Forgotten World highway is on my list though, but wasn't sure about it because I heard some of its quite narrow with a few kms of gravel. Is that where your spill was?
@PanRider939Ай бұрын
@ The spill was very low speed thank goodness, no damage. Wouldn’t say it is overly narrow road, for a bike, but it is windy. The gravel, is the bit of the Forgotten World Highway they forgot. Fine and fairly hard packed. Getting shorter every time. There is a large pile of metal at one end so they’ll be finishing it off soon. Give it a go. 👍

@@PanRider939 Appreciate the detailed response thanks! I look forward to getting down to it with wifey cakes at some stage. Safe riding!🙂

I liked your video, I'm from Taranaki so I ride a lot of the roads you were on, great fun making videos for youtube, who knows might see you on the road sometime

Thanks for the comment. My wife and I are possibly looking at moving down that way once the kids are done with high school so we can get out of the rat race and be more central for riding on good roads. We'll keep an eye out for your V-Strom when we are back in the area 🙂👍

That New Plymouth Cobb n Co used to be a Georgie Pie back in the day, if my failing memory serves me correctly. Odd seeing my home town on youtube... is it a bit of a destination for riders then? I like that your daily distances are very manageable too. Oh, that walking trail is called the Timber Trail, and is also done on mountain bikes. Ive done a small section from Mangakino back when a mate lived there. Cool video, love your observations and humour 😁

@@slownige Hi there! Thanks for your comment and knowledge of the area! I do miss Georgie Pie pies! New Plymouth itself isn't so much a destination as it is a hub for whatever you need when travelling through the area. We are looking at moving south from Auckland and have a friend there so wanted to visit. Appreciate the feedback thanks 😊👍

Thanks. Didn't have a specific route planned, just followed the main roads between the different places. Let Google do most of the work 😊

Great vlog. Wellingtonian here but I'm addicted to the South Island roads. How'd you find the GSX 2-up for long distance?
@motorcyclingmessas27 күн бұрын
@@A_RosnerNZ I agree, South Island roads are awesome and I hope to get back on them with wifey in the future. The GSX is great for long distance 2 up. Plenty of power, but the buttocks still needs a break now and then 🙂. Thanks for the comment, safe riding 👍🏍️
