KLR can do anything. I completed the Ironbutt challenge multiple times in the saddle of a 2012 KLR back in 2012-2014 and again in 2019 on a 2018 KLR. I have plans to do it on my 2024 KLR in the future

Yeah, i don't buy into that stuff too much. It's because millinnials compare everything by technology. I ride a KLR because it's reliable, easy to fix, easy to mod and they are affordable. If you want more power, more gadgets, etc, etc. You pay more and often have more headaches. We live in a society that's all about excess and fancy look-at -me options, we do not live within our means. These day's I'm finding it harder to find things which are user friendly, rugged, reliable and affordable. The KLR checks all the boxes for me, i don't need another 40 hp and more suspension and fancy electronic gimmicks when riding FSR's. 😂

Nice video, I took several of those roads on my trip. I took my 2023 KLR650S from Portland, OR to Hyder, AK in July. Just under 3000 miles in 7 days. KLR did great, I have Shinko 805 on the rear and after 3k miles it has a lot of life left.

I had an 08 and loved it. I then bought a 2022 and fell even deeper in love with it. I have done multiple long trip both on dirt as well as asphalt. It eats both surfaces impressively! I live an hour from the famous Tail of the Dragon and it does the curves with incredible precision on MotoZ Tractionator GPS. Loved the video!

Knocked out 7500km over 14 days on a KLR650 last year Melbourne Cairns return, did a couple of 800km Highway days and did several hundred km of back gravel roads and 4wd tracks in that time, quite capable of a reasonable highway speed, comfortable and with a good fuel range, one stint I ran 415km before refueling and hadn't hit reserve

Hey! For inexpensive tires, you might like the Shinko 705 better. I think they ride really good on pavement, and are decent on gravel roads. I think a good fit for KLRs.

@@dcmphoto7437 I had 705s on my VStrom and they kinda sucked off road. So I bought a replacement 244 for the rear. When it’s done I’ll think of switching both front & rear to something new. 👍

@@Techbrentc 15T front (stock) 42T rear (1 down - it’s what the bike had when I got it). Revs don’t concern me - it’s what it’s designed for. I think it’s a pretty good balance.

Got myself a 2015 this year after riding a GSXF650F for 5 years. Love it so far, nice to see you can still do such a long ride with it. Do you have the stock sprockets on it? in my province, speed limits cap out at 90 so I don't run into issues, but I am always looking for a 6th gear as the revs are so high.
@that_jamesguy2 ай бұрын
@@Mr4squared stock except rear is 1 tooth lower. For whatever reason the previous owner did it. In a previous video I swapped out the 16 tooth front for the stock 15. I don’t find the revs too high even at 120 down the highway. Still gets amazing fuel economy, and range.
