Of course the Ducati will win,, it better win since it's not even a middle class,,, the Gixxer is the only original middle class bike there. give me a break with this bullshit

Look here man if Japan was to make a $25-30k middle class or super bike it would blow these Italians out of the water... lol
@YarekBalear
@YarekBalear 11 жыл бұрын
Sickestonesriders MinistryClub The 899 is only $14-$15k, so what's your point? Also - as far as the middle class argument - given it's a twin, it'd officially be in the same class as the four-pot Gixxer 750.
@R3N1R3N
@R3N1R3N 11 жыл бұрын
YarekBalear ok how much is the Gixxer 750cc - no more than $10k , let me put $5k on top of that and then we'll see where your 899cc "middle class" is at... come on man.

YarekBalear and that goes for the 1199 Panigale too, let me even out the price on a 2014 zx10R and you'll see my point,, , it ain't anyone's fault the vtwins can't move at an even CC with the Japo bikes

You guys are talking about performance and technical detail but another very important factor is that chemistry between bike and rider, without that you can give him the lastest bike, he won't feel very happy at all

Suzuki needs to redesign that gixxer, not a great look. MV Agusta and Ducati looks great but I wouldn't have either one of them, part availability and the dealer network is not great.

***** Coming from someone that has never ridden a 08 cbr600rr, next time try and do some research and you'll realize the 08 cbr600rr ran the fastest 1/4 mile time out every 600cc supersport at 10.52 @ 132mph. Reference: Google "Sport Rider 1/4 miles times." Nice try though!
@CycleCruza
@CycleCruza 10 жыл бұрын
***** depends on the rider's skill. With two riders of equal skill it would probably be a very close race. Sport Rider's 1/4 mile time for the 2013 kawasaki zx6r 636 is 10.71 @ 131 mph vs the 2008 honda cbr600rr 10.52@ 132 mph.
@nabiji
@nabiji 10 жыл бұрын
2008 vs 2013? There's a 5 year difference buddy. And only posers laugh at what others riders ride. Riding is an art, on whatever it is you ride. Also, only a idiot would discredit what the 600RR has achieved, and what it is.

I ride a 2000 Honda CBR929RR, it's the best bike I ever owned, and I have no doubt in my mind it would make minced meat out of this line-up without any electronics, and keep up with the liter bikes. 150HP crank, 379lbs dry is still very respectable after 14 years. I was thinking about the Pani 899, but after taking a closer look and riding with people who have Pani 1199's, I cannot justify the cost vs performance, not even close.

I am a big fan of MV Agusta, I own two of their bike, but I have to say that the way the power is delivered on the F3-800 scared me (Demo bike). At around 4000rpm it just lifts the front with very little throttle.

The mark test at the end, I think the Suzuki sounded nice. Also reading through the comments here I think I think people are not getting the point of these videos. They are informative, and are made for you to decide what you might choose if you were buying a model in this category in this Year. Its a good review, as always these people are honest and give true feedback. I like V-twins, I love the grunt I hear they are nice and light and stunning, I like the Suzuki for sound and reliability but the MV with or without ABS through a pedigree of biking history and the Italian re birth of a new company taking it seriously gets my vote

My first sportbike was a blue and white 1986 GSXR 750.Great bike for tight canyons.Though the brakes would bite hard at the last moment.You thought going into a downhill 180 degree turn you we're going to die than the brakes hooked hard and it was exciting.The bike passed everything in a tight canyon.Though it had alot of false neutrals that kind of sucked.On the freeway I went 70mph plus everywhere cause it killed your back if you didn't split lanes and go fast to your destination.The bike was solid and had a short wheelbase and a 40mm front fork.Would I buy another one.If I was 24 years old I would buy the GSXR 750 or the 1000 as its the best canyon bike.Now at 51 years young I would buy a Yamaha FZ1,a FZ09,a Suzuki Hayabusa. A Honda CBR 650 when it releases this summer.Something thats sporty and comfortable like my current ride a 2009 FZ6.I'm going to buy something new.Maybe a 2014 Kawaski Ninja 1000 in blue or green.You can see where i'm going .A sportbike that doesn't require painmeds after a 5 hour drive.Sitting upright is cool with me now.If it was a Ducati or MV i'll pass for now.If it was a Triumph and I had the funds the 2014 Speed Triple R is radical.A Harley if I won it in a contest.Ill ride any motorcycle I win in a giveaway even that cool Honda Grom 125cc with 4 gears that goes 60mph.If it gets me to the beach in comfirt.I'll ride it.Also I'll give my honest account of any bike I own or ride.

Hey guys, love the review as always. Just a question about your comment on the Ducati's engine braking. You said you didn't like it compared to the other two bikes. Just wondering if you changed the EBC settings and tried all 3 modes for the engine braking and didn't like any of them? Or did you just not like the factory setting (can't remember if it is 3 or 1 out of the box). I just picked up one of these bikes but unfortunately I have to wait for the snow to finish melting here before I can ride it for the first time.

The Daytona 675R is a Middleweight sport bike while these are all Super Middleweight. There isn't exactly a fine line between the two but it's basically a bike between 600 and 1000 cc's that makes upwards of 150 hp I think while 600's make around 118-135hp. Thats what I think.

To conclude your scoring, the GSXR lost because of Appearance, Cool Factor and Grin Factor, which are categories that each have the same weight as Handling for example. And I mean if you seriously need traction control, buy a bazzaz unit, their traction control is great. Use the rest of the money to chop of a few kilos, get a nice tune and a good suspension setup and we've got a winner. I am not a GSXR fan and ride a S1000RR and a CBR600RR myself, but if you are serious about riding it seems like the gixxxer is still the real deal in the middle weight class.

so many people here don't understand why the ducati is the winner in this test.. they think because the gixxer could might be as fast or faster around the track than the 899, it should be the winner because its alot cheaper? The name, looks, sound, vibe, feel and awesomeness of a ducati superbike (especially panigales) is something i would even pay three times the money for.. 4-in line japanese bikes are cheaper, more reliable, and have an overwhelming high end (even though the 1199 has that to) but are absolutely boring to ride, predictable, no personality to it, plastic finish, and sound like a mosquito on drugs.. the days where i still loved riding 4 in lines because i didnt know any better are long gone.. once a ducati, always a ducati

You guys work wonders with what you've got, but you need to come over to Europe and ride. Those roads in your clip are in a pretty rough state.. I could understand how one could evaluate an off road bike but not a refined sport bike.. try Austria or Northern Italy (where most great sport bikes are made and tested, for a reason). Race tracs are far better, too...

After test riding a GSXR I am just amazed at how good the ergonomics are for a sports bike. I hear the S1000RR is also comfortable so thats what I want to try out next. "Squids" really do give the GSXRs a bad name, they are awesome bikes.
@cyraxe_
@cyraxe_ 8 жыл бұрын
+DJ MotoVlogs The reason "squids" choose the gsxr over the rest is pretty much due to how rider friendly the bike is. The positioning is not aggressive nor completely upright. The seat is pretty comfortable. The bike also doesn't sit very high. Basically everything a strictly street rider is looking for. You've ridden one so you know what I'm talking about. It's sad that Suzuki has done so well yet gets a negative outlook from the success.

Yeah, that's true but the new superbikes are so fast now. I have an 899 and was on Road Atlanta with it last week. It certainly puts the power in perspective when you are on a long straight and someone pulls the trigger on a BMW S1000RR next to you. I was completely blown away by how fast they are. I was also getting outdone on the top end by the other 1000s too, R1s and CBR1000RRs. I still love the 899 and it's a great bike, but superbikes are unbeleivable these days.

I thought it's more about feel.. I just went from a cbr 600 to 899.. the 899 feels lighter through the twisties, quicker response on my commute lane splitting which may be the lifesaver.. it does add some power as well but at 15k was pricier about same width. The Honda was more comfortable to sit for sure though. unless you set to corner on the ducati the seat gets uncomfortable after 30 minutes or so, for the passenger well pretty sure ducati designed passenger seat to castrate any man riding 'bitch' and make sure any guy that puts his girl back there turns her from all men forever.. That said the 'comfort' seat for the ducati passenger is ok but another $170

I also came from a CBR600RR to the 899, and I love it. Everything for it is crazy expensive compared to the Honda though, but it's worth it. I've got almost 3k miles on it so far and I've loved every minute of it.

DolleHengst Totally depends on cylinders...if a bike has 2 than an 899 is close to a 700-750 4 cylinder...same for 3 cylinder bikes...they are allowed to have more displacement to make up for the cylinder loss...This has been common in the cycle world for decades.

899cc is a middle weight now? Shit, Ducati should have added a half a liter to the Superbike 10 years ago.

That's what I was thinking, I still consider the 600s to be the middleweight class. These are like that odd step in between middleweights and superbikes imo

Here in good old New Zealand, the 899 Panigale is $2599, which is very competitive, and what I like is the 24000km service intervals, which is far better than the 10,000km intervals it used to be, which is what has put me off buying one. I currently own a 6 month old Hayabusa , which currently has 5600kms on the clock. I absolutely love my Hayabusa, because it does everything well, and, while not perfect, it's hard to fault? Eventually however, I will need to replace it, and on the face of it, the 899 appeared to be a good candidate? I am put off however by the lack of mid-range torque, which the Hayabusa has oodles of, and the need to rev it hard to get the most out of it? I will however ride one when I can find a demonstrator, to form my own opinion? Who knows, I may even be tempted off the mighty Busa?

I don't think anyone here gets the point... Money wise the gsxr is the best choice - but you don't buy an italian bike for the low price or friendly usability, you buy it for the pure excitement and joy you get each time you start her up. I have owned a ducati and just bought a s1000rr which i'm now selling for a panigale 899 because the bmw doesn't give me the joy and excitement. I don't know about you, but i'm not going to buy a gixxer that looks like shit and is owned by 25% of the population...i'd rather get the panigale which not only looks absolutely stunning, but sounds like a beast on a rampage.

Seems like that all that wiz-bang gagetry is not exactly needed on the Suzuki for a lot of reasons. As noted elsewhere, the only thing really missing on the GSX-R is the cool kid factor, otherwise with just a few bucks in aftermarket parts the GSX-R is ready to hand the two Italian bikes a cold plate of humility. $3,000 will buy a lot of improvement when you think about what could be done to even the playing field. Still, it will never be an MV or a Duc, but is that what you care about?

The GSX-R is the best one if you want to know how to be skilled at riding. While it is the squid bike of the century, the lack of ABS and traction control force you to learn how to control your braking and throttle properly or you risk high/low siding.

"The GSX-R is the best one if you want to know how to be skilled at riding." - not at all.. ABS and TC just improve safety not reduce your ability to learn.

James Currey There's actually a video by RidingWithTom where one of his subscribers locked up Tom's girlfriend's R125 and crashed it. The sub had learned on an ABS equipped bike, and he grabbed too much brake on the R125 expecting ABS to save him. So yes, I do somewhat agree with Deso and disagree with you, but nobody should be learning to ride on a super-mid anyway.
