I've bought one but have yet to use it as I am waiting for the weather to play nice up north. 2 things - I am consistently XL in jacket size but the XL airvest is tight. It is also truely big. With a jersey, it's only slightly comical. To wear it on the street will require a 3XL (at least) tent for a jacket to cover it. It's so big that I am concerned I will opt not to wear it and it will be wasted money spent.

Interesting. I'm consistently between a M and L these days and the Large TA Off-Road system fits under the Large Techdura jacket for me. It's somewhat snug, but the stretch of the Techdura keeps things comfortable.

What mode do you think would be good for track? I would guess rally mode. Obviously buying the 7x in addition to the off-road would be ideal but not financially doable for many.

Where does the airbag deploy? I was expecting to see a deployed unit in the video to see coverage and protection.

Apparently they only want to test it. Unless they do some sneaky shit with the computer I reckon you can keep replacing the gas canisters.

@@TheIdlesurfer Of course you can, but you're gambling on if it'll work correctly. The point is they want to inspect it to see if it is still 100%. Raising it to six deployments would mean it's more durable.

@@burddog0792 I think I'm going to wait until the price drops and there are a few more "me toos" on the market. I'm of an age when as a youth I'd tear arse around in basketball boots and a paddock jacket. My armour is now so bloody technical, I reckon I'll be alright in it. I don't ride so hard or fast these days ...but when I balls up, it takes a while to get over it.

I have one. It’s on the heavy side but weight goes away when wearing it and it’s very comfortable. I wear it under a Klim Raptor Jacket. Will be too hot in summer maybe - planning on riding it with a heavy Jersey. At least the airbag vest has a little bit of stronger materials on the contact points. My only problem i have is the magnet activation which turns the system on when you close it. I always fear the system activates when putting it in the closet or hanging it on my bike.

Totally. I've had the same worry with other systems we've tested (TA 5 & 3). Unique to the TA off-road, you can pull the back panel and disarm the system with a switch. While I know it's not ideal for a quick stop, it's good piece of mind for longer hauls if you're traveling or just storing the system.

@@gonzosk8966if you activate rally mode - which you should do before jumping - it shouldn’t deploy unless you’re falling off the bike. After all it’s tested over 7 years in The Dakar and other rallies, so the algorithms should keep track of when deployment is actually needed. If you jump the bike in Street mode, it will very likely deploy if you jump the bike, since that is not a normal street thing to do. That’s my interpretation of the user manual.

I biggest worry would be it deploying in a low speed tip over, wasting one of the 4 uses and costing you $100 for a recharge. I hope the Enduro mode accounts for the tip overs and washouts that sometimes happen in Enduro but arent life threatening

I was wearing the Techdura jacket. It has a lot of stretch which is helpful for normal mobility as well as giving space if the system were to deploy. I really like that jacket (it has no built in armor).

How big is the air volume of the airbag?

8 to 10 liters depending on the size of the system.

@@Motorcyclecomthanks, that is a little lower than I expected, the canisters look quite big. Do you know how it compares to the Tech Air 5? I have a Helite Turtle 2, which is 17-28 liters depending on the size.
