My 2023 Rocket-3R is a Marvel of engineering and it's an Attention Whore. I attract so much attention on Bike Nights with this Bike that it's addicting, and thats half of the pleasure of owning it. It's Smooth, an absolute Beast, and that Nuclear Reactor of an engine, that actually counters the Earth's rotation in the opposite direction with its TORQUE. It's the only Bike in my 62 years of life and 40 yrs of riding, to say, it's my Forever Bike. Triumph fit & Finish lately is amazing, so I got a second Triumph to keep my Rocket company, a 2024 Tiger 900-GT-Pro.

You're right. The V-Max was the OG. Right after I bought my BMW K75 (it was a brand new model) I bumped into a V-Max owner while filling up at a local gas station. We got talking and we both were interested in the other guy's bike. We traded off and rode a few miles to check out what the other guy's bike was like. That V-Max was brutal and so gutsy. He liked the smoothness and refinement of the Beemer. It was a good day.
@robertclark57334 ай бұрын
I thought the original V max was , by far the worst motorcycle I ever rode. Horrid thing. but loved the 2nd gen 1700cc version WAS fun, i spent 2 weeks riding around Spain on that but when thrashed only got 65 miles per tank! The capacity was tiny...
@marscruz4 ай бұрын
@@robertclark5733 Yeah, I was happy that I chose the Beemer rather than the V-Max after riding his bike. The Max was exhilarating in a straight line but wasn't very practical. When all the carbs kicked in it was _quick._ But it didn't suit my needs.
@RickGreen_McNutt4 ай бұрын
@@marscruz I'd say the Honda V65 Magna was the OG, since it was out 2 years before the Vmax.
@marscruz4 ай бұрын
@@RickGreen_McNutt Yeah, maybe so, but it was marketed to a typical sporting rider. The V-Max attracted those who just wanted straight line acceleration. It made no pretensions about being a sport bike. The Honda was a more well-rounded package.

The 10k service intervals and shaft-drive of the Rocket are things potential owners would genuinely be interested in hearing. The Triumph's clocks are dated, but the build quality is sublime. Having owned a number of Ducati V4's and a Rocket 3R, I can say that the Ducati produces less heat (not more) when stopped at the lights in high temperatures. If buying again, I'd have the Rocket all day long. It's just so characterful, an insanely stupid idea for a production bike - which is why we love it.

I owned both an X-Diavel and a Diavel 1260. Both were amazing bikes. So fun to ride. I argued they cruise better than any sports bike and they sports bike better than any cruiser. The V4 though is a bit ugly. If i was picking between these two the Triumph would be the choice. Also a monster bike, just way better looking. Ultimately it comes down to the love of riding you do and enjoy.
@TheFirstCause4 ай бұрын
They totally screwed up the front of the Diavel V4. I like the rear, the rear three quarters view, but the front looks bulbous and bubbly. The headlight is like an inflated balloon version of the 1260. Then the odd droopy horn vents with the weird sideways V fairing under them. Just not as cohesive, and badass as the edgy 1260 front end.

I used to lust after the 1st gen Diavel. The rocket III has never been that interesting to me. They built a motorcycle capable of towing a 10' fishing boat but I can't imagine anyone actually doing that 😂. If it was turbo charged it could easily make 300hp/300ftlbs on pump gas with conservative ignition timing. Kershaw is the only knife I ride with.

I owned a 2021 Rocket 3r rode it for a while and even converted it to GT. It ticked almost all of the boxes except I needed a wicked sounding machine because to be honest all that torque didn't quite do it for me.I traded it for a Ducati 1260s because I always wanted one. It came with an Arrow race exhaust ( so glad I don't live in California) and the exhaust note is intoxicating. It sounds wicked and it performs as well as the Rocket and handles better. I wouldn't go for the V4. I plan on keeping it I am still thriled every time I start the engine. I have customised it a little bit to make it my own and it gets as many admiring commnets as my Rocket did. Cruiser riders and sports bike riders seem to appreciate it too. The new Storm version of the Rocket has me tempted though.

I’ve ridden both, and quite a few bikes in my 60+ years, but I didn’t fall in love with either one, so neither would be a keeper for me. But either one could be the perfect bike for someone…just not me. The Rocket’s power was impressive, but surprisingly only after it spooled up quite a bit. I was disappointed that it didn’t have the stump pulling torque at low r’s (like a Harley M8). It feels W-I-D-E and heavy in the curves, and at parking lot speeds. The COG felt much higher than a typical modern Harley, but I’m more “fun size”, so it may not feel that way to a bigger, taller person. The Diavel’s nimbleness was impressive. I could barely tell that it wore a 240 on the rear (like the Rocket). Unlike a HD Fat Boy (also with a 240) which one must push down to keep it leaned over in the curves. The power was ok, but it too had to be revved out. Strange for a muscle cruiser. I found the KTM 1290R to have much better low end power. Too bad the Ducati’s cost of ownership will be even higher, with twice as many valves to check and shim. Expect to see several for sale just before the first major service is due. Niggle was that you can’t cancel cruise control by rolling the throttle forward, like on every other bike I’ve ridden. Both fun in their own way, but neither would be suitable for a one-bike garage, for me. Both are too focused to be a good “all rounder” but a good second or third bike to alternate for variety.

"The Rocket’s power was impressive, but surprisingly only after it spooled up quite a bit. I was disappointed that it didn’t have the stump pulling torque at low r’s (like a Harley M8)." Try taking the Rocket out of rain mode my friend. Better yet, ride one after someone has spent $50 to flash Penner's tune on it. Everyone I've compared notes with regarding the Rocket's torque all describe it the same as I do - astonishing.

I prefer the last gen diavel 1260s over the V4. The feel of quality felt a little more premium on the 1260s and xdiavel over the new v4 diavel as well. Sat on the new v4 diavel and i felt it seemed more plastic feeling or like ducati cheaped out somewhere. Also, I prefer the look of the last gen diavel over the v4 gen as well. Loved how the last gen diavel sounded with the termignoni exhaust. The L-twin was special and something else. The V4 is cool but it just doesnt have the same feel as the last gen diavel. Id much rather buy the street fighter V4 if i want that engine in a upright bike. As for the new rocket 3 storm, i love the new colors especially the black and blue and so I just put one on order for me in the GT version. The rocket 3 feels very premium. Everything you touch on that bike is quality feeling. Its not about being the fastest bike with the rocket 3, its more so about the uniqueness and specialty of the bike when you ride it. Its very quick and the way it makes you feel with all that torque is so fun. I dont get the feeling even on a 1000cc sport bike. The rocket 3 is just something else and stands out above the rest in my opinion. It will be my 5th bike and probably the last bike i buy as im approachig my mid 40s now. I dont think you could go wrong with either the Rocket 3 or diavel. I just prefer the triumph.
