On November 10, 2013, Anchorage, Alaska's had its first snow of the year. Jared Bennett and Sean King left the Second to None MC clubhouse, and this is what happened.

The thing about riding in weather like this is it takes you a solid 8 hours to warm up after you get back indoors.

@@mauricemotoman3305 every time I would ride in really cold or crappy weather I must have been on the verge of hypothermia because whenever I would get to my destination, I would feel literally chilled to the bone for the next 8 hours. I just couldn't get warm no matter what I tried. I'm sure some better gear would have helped but such things were limited back then.

Done it many times on both my chopped ironhead, and my softail. Only went down once on the hand shift chopper in the snow. Didnt even scuff mine or my girls boots. Never let the snow stop me, but definitely not for the weak at heart. Like another person commented... worth it everytime seeing everyones reactions!!! 😎

In the old days in England when people still could not afford a car and gasoline was still rationed for 10 years after World War II everybody who wrote a motorcycle rode in the snow. They did not have a car. The insurance companies would give you a discount if in the winter you would put a sidecar on your motorcycle to keep you from falling down and going boom. I understand the Ural Gear Up sidecar outfit with the two-wheel drive is very popular in areas like Alaska that get lots of snow after all it was built in Siberia to take Russian Winters. It probably thinks winter in Alaska is a warm spring day compared to Siberia. When I was a kid I used to ride my bicycle in the snow all the time. You would just be bundled up.

@tomservo53472 ай бұрын
I got to drive one of those Urals while in Germany. It had the sidecar, two-wheel drive, and reverse along with shaft driven. My German friend explained the Ural was a piece for piece copy of a WW2 BMW the Soviets captured. The machine gun mounts on the sidecar were copied and my friend even claimed the earlier Urals even had '1943 BMW' copied from an original in the block casting.

@@tomservo5347 when Germany and Hitler and Russia and Stalin were allies the Germans built them a plant to build the r71 in Ukraine. It was a sign of friendship between Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia. When the Nazis double cross the Russians as the Russians double cross the Allies to plant was in bombing range of the Germans so it was moved to the brewery in the Euros on the other side of the mountains. They were made before world war II they were not made from captured German machinery although the Russians did used machinery that they did capture from the Germans. When you were first imported into America they were given the same model the Soviet army got machine gun ammunition and everything and the dot had no clue. Easy riders in the early 1970s test road 1 in California. They went on the freeway and no one would pass them and when they pointed the machine gun that somebody they would move out of the way. God help you if you did that nowadays.

I drive truck, years ago some dumb ass was on his Harley crossing a mountain pass in a snow storm. I was chaining up my truck and here he was. Told me he was going to the other side of the hill. I noticed he only had one piece of his 3 piece set on. I asked if he was a prospect. He said yes. I said let me guess, your going to deliver a package…. He got all weird about my question so i introduced myself and explained that he had cookies and cake for a member on the other side of the mountain. If he arrived he was getting his patch. I told him to fold that vest up and get in my truck. I’ll get him back and fourth safely and warm. The dude on the other side of the hill is a dear friend and he won’t tell. I’ve ferried 9 prospects over that hill through the years and to my knowledge none of them know the others cheated as well. Lol

Spiked winter tires? I used to ride offroad moped in winter before I was old enough to drive a car and firs winter was with just semi offroad tires and it was ok on snow and ice. Next year I had spiked real winter tires and the difference was not big... I tried once to og on hard snow ice with my road legal KTM 500 with knobbies on, it was pretty much impossible, it was like driving with glass wheels on ice, zero grip at all... Even my Yamaha WR450 with semi slicks summer tires and much better grip on the ice then the KTM with original dirt tire.
