OMG!!! Thank you so much for this video, I've been having a chalky sensation in my braking for the last few months. I've changed Rotors, Brake pads, and had the steering bearing tightened...all this and the issue persisted. I did what you said before going to work and OMG!! I'm so happy...my smooth braking has returned..Thank you Gilio!

I've been having the same issue and I've taken almost all of the steps you did to no avail but haven't tried to clean the rivets yet.How's it been holding so far?

@@MrJimmysko so far so good. The vibration has not returned as if yet. So for me it's working really great. Be sure to cover the tire so you don't get any cleaner on the ties

@@2Wheel4Fun thanks for the sit rep my friend! Upon closer inspection I saw that the leaf springs on the inner side of the disk are rusted..do you think they can be repaired or do i need to get new ones?

@@MrJimmysko I've never tackled that aspect of it. If there rusted very bad I would just replace them.

Here is how it should be done: you need a bolt that fit through the rivets and about 1 1/2 inch long with nut, a drill, a WD-40 spray can, a contact cleaner spray can, clean rags an a piece of cardboard to put under te wheel. Pass the bolt through the rivet (from inside out) tight with nut, apply a bit of WD-40 and spin the bolt ( and the rivet ) with the drill when keep applying WD-40 to the rivet until no more dirt comes out, then clean the mess with a rag and apply contact cleaner spray freely until no traces of WD-40 remains, keep the rivets you are working on (2 or 3) at the lower part of the disc, when you have done with the cleaning (clean also the cooling holes), if you are not sure if the disc is totally clean wash it throughly with soap and water and...voila!!! You'll be surprised how much dirt comes out and will have full floating discs again 👍🏻

Why don’t you make a video?

All of which takes ages. This way he shows works in half the time. WD 40 is the bodgers spray of choice. If it gets on your pads good luck with that. That’s why they have Brake cleaner (the clues in the name 😂) , It blasts out dirt, cleans and does no damage so you don’t have to be careful. You can also use it to clean your callipers whilst your at it. Bingo.

No lubricant. Brake cleaner only

Oil & brakes? not a good combination..
@carlosgooglemaps942 жыл бұрын
The rivets get stuck with the time and they need to be freed the only precaution is to clean up the oil very carefully

It must blow your mind when you buy a new rotor and it comes literally COVERED in oil from the factory, to keep it from rusting. 😂

Just use common sense and clean the rotor after

If you clean the WD-40 off with brake cleaner why not just use brake cleaner and not play with oil on the rotor. But who knows my clutch is bathed in oil. Go figure. I did learn that they should be cleaned. I never thought of that. Thank you for the video. Def worth a sub/likie

Because wd40 is made to disperse water and clean dirt. Brake cleaner is just a solvent.
