With Even The Mono Shock setting to the softest The Height is still a bit High for anyone specially below 5,7 , Watch this Video to get a better Setting of reduced height by about an inch which makes a big difference , and yes i know Some of you knew this Already but some do not so it should be helpful
Other Options are Installing a Fully Adjustable Shock like The Ohliins But Thats an Expensive Option Until Then This is The Cheapest and Fastest Way round the Problem
Hope This Was of Help to Some and if you Liked The Video Please Like and Subscribe to Encourage me to do More Guzzi Travel and Review Videos
Thanks For watching And Stay Safe Everyone.

A common misunderstanding is that preload adjustment does NOT affect the spring rate, it doesn't make it "softer" or "harder" as you aren't changing the spring diameter only the height of the bike.

How useful. I test ride one yesterday and asked the question about lowering and was told by a MG dealer that it couldn’t. Itv had put me off buying but now need to test again without the grommets👍🏻

I’m waiting to pick up my new 2022 V85TT Centenario ;I have asked dealer to install a 1 inch suspension lowering kit and remove the rubber bumpers under the seat also; this should help as I am 5’8” with a 29 inch inseam and sitting on the bike now; I am almost flat footed may be 3/4” up from flat footed; I wanted to avoid lowering the suspension any more than I had to do to losing travel and ground clearance

Thank you for the tip! Did you make the subsequent video showing the replacement floor protectors? I guess small rubber washers and superglue would also work.
@motorcyclesplanet
@motorcyclesplanet 3 жыл бұрын
Never got round to doing a follow up on them but the best i found is foam type furniture stoppers which are double sided taped they are neat and hassle free you can get them at a hardware store normally in a pack of 20, Thanks for watching and your idea is good too but i would avoid super glue

@@motorcyclesplanet Thank you! Just bought some furniture stoppers. I noticed when I took the rubber bungs out the seat's connector at the rear was not flush and 'rattled'. I hoping the stoppers will cure that.

Nice. That’s a big difference in sit height reduction.

Yes i really felt the difference even though its only an inch more or less, Will still get the fully adjustable Ohliins eventually so maybe Jan can ride it more easily

Thanks for the tip! But I'm just wondering if you've had any issues with wear and tear under the seat? I checked with my dealer who said that this is not the official method and the grommets should be there for a reason, and if I want an inch lower I have to buy a new seat?? I didn't think this was the option when I read about the V85TT that had the possibility to adjust the seat height, but it seems it's a way of earning $500 more for the italians... Discriminating us shorter people :(

Hi , i got a lot of people actually asking the same question and ofcourse its not the official way to lower a seat , The Grommets are there for absorbing vibrations , Anyway i was going to do another video to show what i later did, The solution of not having the seat touch directly to the Frame is Small round floor protectors which are very thin and made of a rubber foam which you can buy from a hardware or home solutions store - That solved even any movement of the seat , Thanks for watching the video and for your Comment- Ride Safe Always.

@@motorcyclesplanet Ok, thank you for the update! That's a great idea to save another $500 for a lousy inch. Still waiting for my new V85TT Travel, looking forward to it :) Ride safe!

Just another note; because I lowered the suspension; I asked the dealer also to cut the sidestand a bit to give me the proper lean angle

When you remove the rubber grommets from under the seat, do you not experience less comfort while riding?? Also, how much do you actually lower the seat by removing same?
@motorcyclesplanet
@motorcyclesplanet 4 жыл бұрын
No the Comfort is the same actually i just put some small 1 inch floor protectors on the frame where the grommets were, the drop in height is about an inch i am about 5.8 to 5.9 in height and that small amount helped me get flat footed also keeping in mind i set the shock to the lowest setting

To be empirical about it, I think you should actually measure the height of the rubber mushroom end. Looks about 14mm maybe, to me. But thanks, kind regards.

Height in & of itself is NOT the issue. I am 5'7" with a 32" inseam, I know of many guys who are up to 6'3" with the same 32" inseam.
@motorcyclesplanet
@motorcyclesplanet 4 жыл бұрын
Yes see im just under 5.9 and my inseam 30 only so as you can see in the video its not a big issue for me either but some people would suffer , lets say a person your height with a 30 inseam then this could be a useful option
