Just got one in England - £6,999 ($8,900) with a quickshifter thrown in. Only ABS and TC here, no option without. It's great value in England, £500 more than an MT07, but much better quality all round. With 94 bhp it's the best value you can have here. An MT09 has much more power, but the difference in insurance costs is huge. Excellent suspension, slipper clutch, quickshifter, floating discs, LEDs all round and a great stock sound. I'm delighted with it.

@@b8tzim767 I'm running the bike in at the moment. There's a small buzz around 6,000 rpm. But nothing significant to me. Generally unbelievably smooth. I'd recommend a test ride.

I'm jealous! Good look with it! Based on this review I would definitely have one if I could find the room. Again, based on this review the bike looks to be very predictable and easy to get used to. Even at this price it looks like Honda just may have a hit on their hands. I would like a round tach but I'm an old fart. Old farts like these kinds of things.

Perfect bike for me. Much more grown up than the MT 07, that I also owned (stolen), as is the way in England.

Now, THAT'S a Honda!!! Inline-4 screaming, hustling into the corners...this is the review I've been looking forward to! Amazingly, that display, despite all the glare, is AMAZINGLY clear and easy to read, moreso than the other bikes you've commuted on lately. Maybe it's the riding position?

Picked mine up today, similar feel to my Street Triple '13', which I loved. Its firm with great feedback. Front brakes were great straight away but back brake needs bedding in, no feel. Clutchless gear shifts a breeze and gear box in general has a great feel. Ive put an R&G tail tidy on which is on the large size, not sure im 100% sold on its looks but quality is good. Ive set display at max brightness and its still dim through dark visor. I tried hard to get vibes at 6000 revs in all gears and none on mine. Throttle can be a bit on/off at low revs, typical of euro 4. ABS only in Oz. The front indicators are permanently on with front light which is a safety feature and not sure if unique to Australia? Of cause they flash when indicating and looks brighter so perhaps more leds lit. Mirrors are good enough. The clutch grab is at the end of the lever travel which is a slight stretch for my preference. I will be getting adjustable levers, screen to shelter screen and quickshifter before slip on or full system. Highly recommend this bike and Ive ridden alot. Will suit someone who likes to be a bit aggressive, to hoon.

I LOVE inline fours! I got out f the service in 1971 and bought a CB500F. Wow. Best looking built to that time. The pipes were trash. I drove the bike to work and the pipes rotted out every two years. Still I went to Sturgis and the Calvary Stampede, rode down from Shreveport to Houston every couple of months to see my parents. Honda builds an engine that will run forever if you just keep the fluids up. Change the chain and sprockets and you can keep moving, year after year. I now have my second Goldwing(1978 and 2015) and I am a confirmed Honda owner.

J Wro they really did sound sweet. I had a Z1 after the 500 Honda and the four pipes on any of those bikes were so much sweeter than all the single pipes you could put in those bikes back then. The Six cylinder sounded like an F1 engine.

Always loved Honda for the reliability and build quality, but their design up until now seemed somewhat uninspiring and dull to me. This neo sports cafe lineup, though... absolutely gorgeous bikes, every single one of them. Just ordered a CB650R the other day, can't wait for it to arrive.

@Thgt Ggyh maybe if you're coming off a Tuono or Superduke, but I've owned one for a few weeks now and it ain't boring to me. Super linear powerband inspires confidence and makes it easy to thrash around, even for a fairly inexperienced rider like me. I'll probably be riding something different a few years from now, but for a first "big bike" I can absolutely recommend the CB.
@dsofe4879
@dsofe4879 4 жыл бұрын
@Thgt Ggyh well, agree to disagree I guess. Can't say it feels anything even remotely like a 300-class bike, unless you're cruising below 6000 rpm all the time. Haven't raced a 390 duke yet, but I find it hard to believe a bike with literally half the power and torque is faster in any scenario, even with a 100lbs weight advantage.
@dsofe4879
@dsofe4879 4 жыл бұрын
@Thgt Ggyh yeah I can tell you're looking for an internet fight, but I'm not in the mood so you're not getting one. Don't really need to have ridden any specific KTM to figure out that those numbers don't quite add up. Have fun with whatever bike isn't boring to you. I'm happy with my 650R.

No no, they need to keep the price where it is. I waited 6 months to get this bike as my first ride and then got tired of waiting for Honda to release it in the US and bought an MT07 instead. Every time I see a picture or video of the CB650R I start to feel a little pang of regret at my impatience (as much as I love my MT), but the $2,000 price difference is what helps me sleep at night.

@matthewhaworth5935
@matthewhaworth5935 4 жыл бұрын
@@christopher7310 After borrowing an MT07 for a month long test period and ending up on the CB I wouldn't say "extremely" overpriced, not by a long shot. The overall build quality on the CB is honestly miles above that of the MT. The CB is turnkey bike in every sense of the word. Better components, better fit and finish, better looking. After riding both, it is clear the CB is the more refined bike. The MT feels every bit an entry level bike and that shows in the more approachable price tag. Now with the CB I think the OEM quickshifter should be standard, and with that said $500 cheaper on top. I wouldn't call that extreme, but maybe thats just me. It's a great all around bike for a single stable owner.

When you are riding your Honda in 10 or 15 years and it looks and rides just like the day it was made while the other Japanese bikes are long since gone, you won't be remembering that extra grand or two you spent to buy it. I'll leave you with this. There is a reason Suzuki, Kawasaki, and Yamaha all tried to make Gold Wing competitors and as of this day no longer have one in their model line.

If you're completely inexperienced, take an MSF or any other motorcycle safety course. This will get you adjusted to being on a bike. The instructor should teach you some drills throughout the course of the riding day and when you are licensed and have a bike to practice on, run those drills. Besides saddle time and practicing, join a motorcycle meetup or group and ask for them to show you some pointers. I'll bet that they'll be glad to help. What's wrong with that ? There is no rule saying you have to start in 1. Most people just start in 1 because the motor has more torque . When I used to race professionally I experimented with gate launches of 1, 2nd and even 3rd. Depending on how quickly the turn came up from the gate at the start of the race

man, your riding style makes me nervous... not talking about lane splitting, but changing lanes in an intersection, that's illegal in my area. Not shoulder checking when changing lanes, weaving in and out of traffic. and what's with the reving at a red light? Good review though! I have a CB500F and the throttle is very touchy, very hard to ease into it, almost feels like an on/off switch, by how you described this bike, sounds like it's much better.

Guess it’s fortunate you’re not riding on the back eh? Cool thing about this hobby is that you can ride your own way...as slow, as safe, wearing as much highlighter yellow safety gear, and as boring as you’d like.

@@SuprScout funny thing is, watching him makes me nervous, but if I was riding on the back it wouldn't. when I was young, my older cousin on his little scooter would take me places in Taiwan, and there is no room for error there, everything he passes i fear of hitting my knee, but then i got used to it. As long as he's not causing harm to others, I'm cool with however anyone rides

Rick Sanchez here in the northeast MT09’s are a little more, this is priced right in between a 07 and a 09. I would rather own this, the 09’s are too wheelie happy, just by accelerating hard, makes for slower accelerations when your fighting it, and I personally prefer a i4’s power band

Excellent review - fun and facts. And always good to see the bike in action over a realistic journey. Good bike too - that price is high but likely soon forgotten over something like an mt07 - great fun, but many more shortcomings. And a bigger bike for everyday use? Forever hitting the 'sensible' speed limits far too soon and probably with less fun. A smallish I4 is a treat.

I own the blue one, but have a nice NOS red tank waiting to be used. It is a funny bike, cause it makes a beautiful noise but really it is quite slow. The vibrations starts at 5000 rpm but soon disappear around 5500 rpm
@David-rx2to
@David-rx2to 5 жыл бұрын
@42much1 The blue was a nice color too and, I think, a little more rare than the more common red. I never noticed any vibration near that rpm especially since that was pretty much my highway rpm...I regeared mine a little and dropped the stock gearing of about 5200-5300 rpm @ 60 mph, to about 4800 rpm @ 60. I put individual K&N pods on the carbs, a Kerker exhaust and upped the main jet from a #75 to an #85. Of course the sound was great at high rpm but, my favorite sound was the intake bellow it made when I drifted through a stop sign at a walking pace or a slow turn in second gear.

Where i live the mt07 is 7 grand and cb650r is 8500, for that price difference you get a inline 4 engine and a bike with much better build quality. If the price was 8 grand it would be perfect.

I would love to have one of these but not at that price. I am at the point that I have cheap insurance no matter what I ride so I would get the Kawasaki Z900. I hope Honda sells a lot of these and maybe down the road I might get a used one but I personally couldn't spend that on what would be a third bike

I really love the styling of this very beautiful and elegant bike. But the tiny and dim cheapie bolt-on cellphone dash is a HUGE deal breaker. It's absolutely and unacceptably criminal to put such a piece of shit dash on an expensive $10K (out the door) bike like this one. Hope they fix this in the 2021 model and use a stylish high-quality TFT panel similar to the 2020 Kawie Z650/Z900.
