36mpg is considered good fuel economy? My main gripe with my 08 650 is that I only get 36-40 mpg. I thought these newer parallel twins were supposed to be more efficient

@@soggywuffles882 under what conditions? I'm normally riding around 80 on the highway to get to the twisties, where I like to ride spiritedly. But it seems like regardless, if I've put a lot of miles on a tank around town, or just cruising on the highway, I'm still in the 40mpg or less range. I have gotten higher when highway riding at 65 mph and taking it easy in the twisties but that's hard to do unless I'm riding with a slow buddy. And are you using the trip computer on the bike? My vstrom reads almost 10% high on the speedometer, so I can only imagine that the distance shown on my trip computer is off by the same amount.

You're mis-informed. Right from my owners manual... First valve inspection: 15,000 miles. Also, most V-Strom 800 owners are getting mid 40s or better for MPG. I remember when Motorcyclist and Cycle World were the gold standard for accurate motorcycle information.
@dwayneneufeld16963 ай бұрын
Continuing from your other video about this bike, you seem to double down on wrong. Do your research. Horsepower is always advertised and compared to other bikes at the crankshaft, and it is 84hp. Another problem with your information is the valve clearance inspection. The manual says 15,000 miles, not 7500. Get it right. Unfortunately, people listen to your statements and assume they are factual. Sorry, I know this post probably sounds a little hostile toward you, but it is your responsibility to be accurate. Don't do reviews if you don't want to do the research. Not just hearsay?... Is that where you're getting your info?
@FatherOBlivion3 ай бұрын
I heard 70HP and thought that couldn't be right. That would be less than all the others in this class (Versys, Tiger 660, old V-Strom...) Thanks for posting.
@NalinKhurb3 ай бұрын
This channel has always mentioned wheel horse power figures for every bike, that's hardly misleading Good catch on the valve inspection interval though

@@NalinKhurb Then you should say rear wheel hp. Everyone else goes by crank and most say so. Unless Suzuki changed their TFT, I don't believe there is Bluetooth either. I agree about the bike though, they are nice!

It is not a perfect bike. It is not the most economical on off. Also there is a problem with turbulence from the windscreen, every windscreen the owner puts. Also there is not cruise control(but there is an excellent up down quickshifter, for someone that is interesting first of all for riding and nothin else). But believe me, this bike is a blast to ride. It is not the best bike for long distance trips with luggages and second passenger. But it is one of the best adventure bikes in any category for sport riding in the twisties. It is so simple.
