I’ve ridden the DE and it’s a fabulous motor. If the RE has cruise then I’d get one. A very good review, Dan.

Proper Made in Japan quality. I thought it was the best bike overall, felt most like a GS in terms of planted stability, but at less than half the price.

I just bought this as my dealer had a "oh shit season is ending"-offer on it. Got it with all the cases, handguards, centerstand and heated grips. I've only had one ride on it so far, because winter is been a bit awful here. I could definitely tell though that I'll be changing out the windscreen. Will probably be changing the tires as well from what people say about the tires. Long term, I might also throw a cruise control system on it, but I'll wait and see how much it bothers me not having cruise control. The new season cannot come quick enough. I'm gonna have a good time with this bike. ^^

I bought one around four months ago, oh my, that parallel engine is such a flippin PEACH, incredible real world power from just over 3k revs onwards.....!! It actually rides like a SuperMoto. Great channel content EBD, keep on doing it -- fabulous. Regards. peter Scotland

Nobody seems happy with the windscreen on these, but i have found the Puig 6320W clip on visor fits perfectly. Weather has stopped me from properly evaluating but if it works that's an ultra cheap cure for what i feel is the worst issue with this bike.

You can get an aftermarket electronic cruise control from Veridian or McCruise. Installation requires quite a bit of dismantling.

You can get Oxford premium touring heated grips for €70. From looking at the bike and it's accessories, they can be connected to the bike's own accessory socket under the fairing. The bike has CANbus electrics, but the accessories are not canbus (unlike the transalp).

I owned a 2018 V Strom 1000, they aren’t flashy or complicated but if you were travelling around the world you could do a lot worse… Sadly for Suzuki, I’ve been seduced by a Triumph 1200 GT Pro, but my old V Strom was truly a great bike in 5 years of ownership it never broke down and it was easy to home service….. This V Strom, looks like good value but it desperately needs cruise control , heated grips can always be fitted afterwards from a TP supplier.

Hi Dan, if you do end up purchasing this bike do you think you will also keep your Tracer? These are two bikes that I have mentally cross shopped. The Suzuki touring model with the side cases is $14199 Canadian vs $15999 for the Yamaha with side cases. The Tracer does have some extras like cruise control, cornering led lights, 6 axis IMU and would be the sportier of the two. I commented in one of your earlier VStrom videos that I would like to see a street oriented version similar to the gsx1000gx. Its price would have to be pretty close to the 800re though.
@Englishbikerdan

I will probably part ways with the Tracer next year regardless. I rarely keep a bike more than 2 years.

Just to let you know that MCN the motor bike testing channel has reviewed the hornet 1000SP you might be interested to see what they say about the bike if you’re going to test it next year it comes in at just under 10 thousand pounds and Yamaha has announced that they are stopping selling bikes in America as of next year not sure if you will be able to get one imported from Japan to America

I will check what the price is difference is between the triumph 765R and the Honda hornet 1000SP because they have the same amount of power from the engines and possibly a similar bike you might have to do a test with both of them at some point but the normal hornet 1000 is under 9000 thousand pounds brand new so that’s going to make things very interesting to see what other bike manufacturers do in 2025

@@justinrogers9427 If that is the extent of your riding, then no a cruise control won't be a big deal for you, however now that most bikes are 'ride by wire' it is pretty much expected on this style of bike, and especially so when doing high daily mileages.
