@@efjr1239 I just perfer the VQ naturally aspirated. It sounds really good with a short ram air intake and throttle body. There's always somebody else with a faster car IMO. I don't need to be the fastest. I just want to have fun and enjoy driving my car. I like Honda's also. 👍👍

Smart thinking. The actual bottleneck is the curve after the throttle body into the plenum. If the air went straight vs making a 90 degree left turn and the throttle body was closer to the front, you would be making more power no doubts about it.

Motordyne G35 it’s in the rear because it wouldn’t clear the hood otherwise. I tried to build an intake plenum and and intake tube that fed straight into the front of the plenum on my G, it won’t clear the hood or the rad support. Also probably wouldn’t yield enough horsepower to be worth the trouble

2jz people are going high compression e85. People don't like seeing boost and high compression in the same sentence but it does work.

Went to Royalty Performance a local performance shop for a Lightweight Flywheel/Clutch job recently and they had a lot of boosted cars including 2JZ's, RB's and VQ's and the owner was telling me they use High Compression pistons in Alot of their builds as they can make more power at lower boost pressures. When I posed the question of the High Comp pistons being a problem with Forced-Induction I was told that with modern ECU's and tuning you can reliably and safely make power with High compression especially with E85 being available now. But you're right about boosted VQ's not sounding very good I've yet to hear one I like and you get none of the crazy turbo noises associated with classic inline 6 turbo engines like the RB26 and 2JZ's sadly.

NightmareFD3S yeah I was afraid of high comp and FI causing detonation issues but E85 helps tremendously. I don’t know what it is about the VQ sound when boosted I’ve only heard AT MOST 1-2 sound decent with a single turbo. It’s like in-line 6 setups have a more bravado sound when boosted

@@Brando_Z33 Have you heard the yellow 350z on 1320? I think a good kit for noises would be the boosted performance kit, it's mid mounted so it might be a single inlet post headers so it could be a bit more wooshy.

I just rewatched the yellow 350z on 1320 video. Sound is really important to me. I also think boosted VQs, especially turbo, do not sound good at all. Supercharged VQs sound much better. than turbo VQs. Still not a good sound though. I'm at 180,000 miles on my G. Once the motors blows, the only way I would do another VQ is if it was NA. I want to go boosted so yeah the real question is LS or 2JZ?

Hey man, my car stall each time I put 1st...all gears (MT) from 2k rpm it drops to 0 and turn off. (2007 G35 coupe) it has been resting for a month when I was away. Do you know what could be the issue? I thought it could be the position cam sensor, but the car does start normally and stay idling no problem, but when I push the clutch and put 1st it just stall.

Pull the codes, it could be the camshaft or crankshaft sensor super common on thses cars

@@ersbit try swapping the 02 sensors and see if you get the code P2A02 on the other side. If so you probably have a crack in the exhaust, a massive leak or the cats are plugged. It seems like it's very extreme and I would guess the cat might be stuffed up. How many miles are on your car and are you form a rusty state?

Do it buy a good car with a manual transmission it's Alot more enjoyable and highly more reliable than any automatic transmission vehicle you can ever buy. You'll be one of the very few especially of your generation to have actual driving skill if you learn to drive a manual transmission properly. I've owned nothing but Manual transmission cars since I was 18.

Going on 14 years, 180,000 miles on my G which is a stick. Not only is it more fun, but with a stick you are also in more control of the car. Sticks are also becoming anti thieft systems because younger people can't drive them. You can use the gears to slow down the car on slippery surfaces. Plus automatics are geared longer, the rear diff has different gearing. I daily drive my G too. Nothing wrong with Automatics, but the manual is cheaper fix and will last longer than an automatic transmission.
