It's a good idea but if the shoe lace gets wet then the fresh or salt water will find its way inside the remote and that will be the end of it . Better if you cover the part of the shoe lace that goes inside the remote with a water repellent pray or even better to use dielectric grease which is waterproof before you screw the cover on.

Michael thanks for the reply, the dielectric grease is a great idea, I will do that next time I have to open it up. The shoelace was only meant to be a temporary measure, but it has been like that for quite a few years now and haven't had any issues yet! . Cheers

@@purple5ive its a great way to save a few bucks to repair the remote and I guess it's probably not often that the remote would get wet , I just thought a bit of extra protection won't be a bad idea lol. Good luck out there.👍👍🤙🤙

Bloody Rippa! I have 2 that are broken and a mate has one also , $35 to replace to most likely have it happen again ill try the shoelace.

I just filled in that section with epoxy and hollowed out a hole for the lanyard once it was cured. Hasn't failed
