This was Southampton Guildhall, 15th November 2011. I was there and I remember it like it was yesterday. Unfortunately, the culprits were punk fans for the support group, which was the Anti Nowhere League. But Lemmy, the consummate professional, set them straight before carrying on. What a great moment from a great man

I'm sure whoever was responsible for throwing the bottle at Lemmy isn't seeing this but if so, I hope you got your ass kicked. Let's not forget he went on public TV and announced he wouldn't tolerate people throwing projectiles from the audience anymore. The week before that announcement he nearly lost his hand after someone threw a razor blade sandwiched between two coins at him in Ljubljana
@richardrybinski23207 жыл бұрын
I've always hated those phonies who felt a need to endanger other people by throwing bottles, fireworks and other projectiles at the band. In the old punk days of the late 1970's, a lot of English "punks" thought it was cool to gob at the bands. These idiots never knew a thing about the true nature of rock and roll or punk. Same thing goes for the 300 pound guys who "slam danced" into 115 pound girls at hardcore shows in the '80s. Turns out a lot of those fools were the jocks and bullies in high school who continued doing it into their so called "adult" years." They all later became policemen.

The stage is a musician's place of work. Last thing you should do is interfere with a musician in the course of their duties. I've almost hit people with guitars if I felt they came too close and people have been very antsy about stage rushing since Dimebag's death in 2004. Willie Adler from Lamb Of God pointed this out when Randy Blythe was arrested for manslaughter in the Czech Republic in 2012

In the early 90s Lemmy nearly lost the use of his left hand after some idiot threw a bottle at him on stage. So no wonder he took such a hard line. I remember back then he was very vocal about it, and got Ozzy, Priest, Alice and many others to join him and for a while there was a lot of people leaving the stage when something was thrown but quickly the rest just started to beat up the throwers and it stopped. But back then it was a lot worse than anything you see today.

As far as I can remember, Lemmy actually got nasty cut on his hand (which, um, you know, he needed to play) once in the 90s because of an idiot who decided to throw shit on the stage. So not cool. You're there to have fun, not ruin the night for everyone. Can't believe people still don't get this. When I saw Kreator in Brussels in December, some imbecile decided to waste beer and threw one of those thick, reusable cups towards the stage. Didn't get all the way to the stage, but it got to the front row. I know this because it cracked my skull and I had to hold some tissues there to at least slow down the bleeding for a couple of songs, which also happened to be two of my faves in the set. If that thing had been thrown just a little bit harder, it could have hit Mille and that could have ruined the night for everyone.

Why in the WORLD does anyone go to a concert and get "wild" enough to throw objects at the band? Seriously? Get arrested, get prosecuted, injure someone in the band...and in a perfect world, get "tuned up" by someone in the crowd for ruining the show (hopefully just when the band leaves the stage), and deservedly so? I saw Living Colour in Stuttgart back in '88. No one threw things at them, but some morons decided they wanted to fight and Corey Glover stopped the show immediately. He was like, "Look, we're a long way from home and we're not here to provide the soundtrack for a riot. You guys want to watch or get into a fight, and we're done. You guys want to see and hear us play, stop the dumb shyt," or something to that effect. There were some American GIs (besides me and my buddies) in the crowd, as well as some German anti-racist skinheads. There also was no more BS, and a great show. We drove 2 1/2 hours *one way* on a Thursday night to see them...which meant getting back to base in time for about an hour's sleep before the "customary" Friday 5K PT run. We also really wanted to see Living Colour, and would have definitely expressed sincere lack of appreciation for anyone who ruined the concert over some BS.
