I Don’t Believe A Word appears on the album Overnight Sensation and features the line-up for Lemmy, Phil Campbell and Mikkey Dee. Originally released on 15th October 1996 on SPV, it was produced by Howard Benson.
Lyrics
Don't talk to me, I don't believe a word
Don't try to make me feel alright
All the love in all the world
Is not enough to save my soul tonight
Don't be my friend, I'm not a fool
Don't talk of things that we cannot see
When all the ones that sing the blues
Sometimes I think of how it used to be
I have seen the Devil laugh
I have seen God turn His face away
I have nothing left to lose
I have nothing left to say
I have seen the sky turn black
I have seen the seas run dry
I have nothing that is yours
I have nothing now that is not mine
Don't look at me, your eyes are cold and hard
Don't wonder that I turn to you
All the grief in all the world
Is not enough to make me comfort you
Don't tell me lies, I'm not a dog
Don't talk of love, it seems to me
All the people that we rob
Sometimes I think of how they used me
I have seen the fires of Hell
I have seen Angels with flaming swords
I have nothing that is mine
That I have much that could be yours
I have seen the eye of God (Silence)
I have heard lies that are true (Don't believe a word)
I have nothing for myself (Silence)
I have nothing I would give to you (Don't believe a word)
Don't say that word, I know it's only fools
Who do not know their fate is just
All the justice in the world
Is not enough to buy my faith and trust
Don't make that face, I won't be pleased
Don't make a sideshow of yourself
All the people we released
Sometimes I think you're someone else
I have been where none have been (Silence)
In the empty howling rooms (Don't believe a word)
I have everything I need (Silence)
I have everything you stand to lose
I have seen the diamond worlds (Silence)
I have seen the shape of space (Don't believe a word)
I have nothing but the world (Silence)
I have nothing to take its place (Don't believe a word)
I don't believe a word
I don't believe a word
I don't believe a word
I don't believe a word
I don't believe a word
I don't believe a word
I don't believe a word

[Verse 1] Don't talk to me, I don't believe a word Don't try to make me feel alright All the love in all the world Is not enough to save my soul tonight Don't be my friend, I'm not a fool Don't talk of things that we cannot see When all the ones that sing the blues Sometimes I think of how it used to be [Chorus 1] I have seen the Devil laugh I have seen God turn His face away I have nothing left to lose I have nothing left to say I have seen the sky turn black I have seen the seas run dry I have nothing that is yours I have nothing now that is not mine [Verse 2] Don't look at me, your eyes are cold and hard Don't wonder that I turn to you All the grief in all the world Is not enough to make me comfort you Don't tell me lies, I'm not a dog Don't talk of love, it seems to me All the people that we rob Sometimes I think of how they used me [Chorus 2] I have seen the fires of Hell I have seen Angels with flaming swords I have nothing that is mine That I have much that could be yours I have seen the eye of God (Silence) I have heard lies that are true (Don't believe a word) I have nothing for myself (Silence) I have nothing I would give to you (Don't believe a word) [Instrumental Bridge] [Verse 3] Don't say that word I know it's only fools Who do not know their fate is just All the justice in the world Is not enough to buy my faith and trust Don't make that face I won't be pleased Don't make a sideshow of yourself All the people we released Sometimes I think you're someone else [Chorus 3] I have been where none have been (Silence) In the empty howling rooms (Don't believe a word) I have everything I need (Silence) I have everything you stand to lose I have seen the diamond worlds (Silence) I have seen the shape of space (Don't believe a word) I have nothing but the world (Silence) I have nothing to take its place (Don't believe a word) [Outro] I don't believe a word I don't believe a word I don't believe a word I don't believe a word I don't believe a word I don't believe a word I don't believe a word I don't believe a word

My favorite part about the sound of this song, is along with the sadness of the lyrics and the tone, there's also a part of the sound that is very dark and angry. There's distress in this beauty.

Some people don't appreciate Lemmys voice ....😂 It wouldn't be Motorhead with any other voice. Miss you sir.

Le'me tell you this - the first time i heard Motorhead on the radio (sorry no umlaut, i'm writing on a CANCEL keyboard!...), it was in December 1977, with White line fever, and that was it, instant fascination, hell's angels romanticism, speedfreaking magnetism, you call it what you like. I was 14. Unfortunately only saw them once, Easter Saturday 1988. To this day, the Motorhead vinyl collection keeps growing on the shelf. As someone says elsewhere, Lemmy is forever, Rock and Roll Class Hero.
