I lived there in the early and mid 70's. It was cool to go by and see him out on his horse or other toys playing in the yard.

I do not consider myself an "Elvis nut" but, my wife and I were married at the Graceland Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas back in 2003. We took our first anniversary trip to Memphis and did the Graceland tour. Elvis and Las Vegas are almost synonymous. They are both way over the top! Las Vegas resembles Elvis at the "entertainer" while Graceland gave me a deeper appreciation for the "man" Elvis was. I hope you did the Sun Studio tour as well. Great video!

Great video ! I went in early 1978 none of those things were there .We went up the driveway threw the musical gates ,you could not go in the house ,I think people were still living there but you could go out back and pay your respects ,there were horses out back, no guides , no tourists or fees , just me and my friend traveling and of course we had to go to Graceland ! I have wanted to go back for the inside tour but that I hope to do .I still have all the pictures ,I do love peanut butter and banana sandwiches ,I use to serve them at the oldies bar I worked in during the 80s and 90s .That was a neighborhood ,they must of just bought everything in the area to make all those attractions .Wow .

I went to Graceland in 1980. We parked directly across the street from the mansion in a little strip mall (or something like that) and walked across the street, through the gates, and up to the house on foot, with no guides. We could stop and walk around as we wanted pretty much. I don't remember the exact price, but it was less than $15 per person.

I'm a boomer but not a real Elvis fan. I liked his music and some of his movies but not a real fan. I understand how he was an icon to many and know many of your followers will love this video. I agree with Lorena that it is an "In the area" kinda attraction.
@IvyRoad6 жыл бұрын
Elvis pre-dates Boomers. He was in between Boomer parents - the 2nd WW generation, and boomers. He was born in 1935 while the very oldest boomers were not born until 1946 and the birth boom lasted until 1964, so he could have been a boomer parent. He started recording before most boomers were born. I'm also a boomer and Elvis was a "golden oldie" when I was growing up listening to the radio.

I was watching one of your older videos from Old Tucson. If you visit the Pima Air & Space Museum, don't take the bus tour. It stops at every plane and gives its history. After an hour you'll be ripping your hair out. By the way, all of the locomotives are used to power some of the longest trains you will ever see. Coming from Ford's plants in Mexico loaded with cars and trucks. They are hundreds of train cars long. If you get caught at a crossing, you might be there an hour. At least it seems that long.

When I was in first grade my family lived in Memphis. My parents told me Elvis, before he was what he became, use to date the girl that lived next door to us. Many times my parents saw Elvis waiting in his car parked out front of our neighbours house waiting for his girlfriend to come home from school. How wild is that?

Elvis pre-dated the Beatles by quite some time. The Beatles presaged a wave of music (the "British Invasion") that eclipsed Elvis and moved his career into smaller venues and audiences. Elvis was one of the fathers of Rock and Roll and the Beatles were the children, the next generation. There was very little crossover among the fans as the fans, initially, were much younger than the Beatles themselves (all those screaming little girls which included me) and Beatles fans thought Elvis was very old fashioned.

My god the prices are ridiculous. i went about 15 or so years ago and it was cheap. We enjoyed it. Only thing I remembered bad was When the little bus dropped us off at the front of the Mansion the guides herded us briskly into the mansion. Not letting us take pictures of the front. Saying we could take pictures when we left. Unknown to us they ran us out the back put us back on the bus and no way to get the pictures. We had to walk back across the street and stand at the gate and take pictures. Also the house was not near as big as I thought it would be. They also claimed at the time no flash pictures because the flash pictures would ruin the inside of the house which I thought was b.s. Elvis was Great though he was the best. Last I heard a few years ago the airplanes were being sold I guess that didn't happen. At 150 dollars a person I guess not lol.
@LifeWithPaulLorena6 жыл бұрын
Pictures were ok, video was frowned upon. Flash pictures are always frowned upon near art. Supposedly degrades certain artifacts...I've always thought that was bs, as well. I'm not a photo specialist and I don't know, but I'm betting there is no way that a flash from a camera, and especially from cell phones would hurt paintings. It's more annoying for people trying to look at the stuff with flashes going off constantly. Very pricey admission!

Elvis would teach every anybody any thing, all night until the sun came up or all had fallen to sleep. Ed Sullivan sure had issue with him The first time I seen Elvis I was very young and I had just got my two wheeler and had to ride to my Aunts who had TV to watch Ed Sullivan Show on Sunday night. But I didn't understand why the Girls were screaming and crying. I just wanted to see the Mexican Mouse puppet called Topo Gigio. When He die that to brought a new awareness to the music industry and medical industry. like who do what and when. and so on. Great video thanks Guys waiting to see if you take in the Peabody Hotel and the Cotton Exchange.
