I've no idea where you are heading for in Spain, maybe you've said, maybe not and you probably have a plan anyway. But a nice drive with plenty to see is from the north/west heading south from Gijon to Leon, Zamora, Salamanca, Caceres, Merida, Seville and Cadiz. It a route virtually on one road parallel with the Portuguese border. No idea either if you've been there before. It gets you to the sunny south as quickly or as slowly as you want.

Lucky for us we are comfortably camped up in Spain at Camping La Naranja in Gandia where we are enjoying our New Year celebrations of a Pasta a la calamari and a cheeky xmas gift of Moët. Our travelling black cat Tasha this week obtained a Spanish EU passport much to the delight of her owner and Pierre asked the vet if he had a rabies could he get the same passport 😂. Da iawn both. Really enjoy your fun and common sense advice. Have used our motorhome twice to go from Pembrokeshire to Torrevieja with our two large dogs before lockdown. Not too keen on repeating this since the doing away of pet passports and other requirements. Normally go from Bordeaux to Valencia via the A23, which don't have many tolls. Enjoy your stay in Spain and keep the great advise coming.

In the winter i try for 800 Kilometer a day through France to arrive at the Mediterranean Sea in two days. Also use a Emovis toll tag's France,Spain and Portugal. Got them from Caravan Club saving application fee when applying. Happy New Year may your travels go well.

last day of '23, first of all, happy happy new year for the four of you wish you lots of beautiful miles/km, sights & travels in you're future... funny thing, when i look at you're video's, at the same time i have a look at google maps, check the roads, and smile every time i remember i was there to, that road between chartres en bordeaux, national dix, i used often when i came back from burgos, there where a lot of restaurant "lesroutiers" no roundabouts, one long road, good food... 30 year ago i guts you are going direction bayonne and cross the border into sunshine spain... enjoy the travels in '24, thanks for sharing, happy new year

The French camping car sites are really good. You don’t need to load up the card with money you can just pay as you go, via the card, that’s what we do!? Result when you find some money left on it that you didn’t know about tho 👍 Happy new year 🎉🥂, safe travels

With the Camping Car card do you always have to have credit on.On the video you say that you can get a card on arrival. How does that work. Can it vend cards. Sorry if I sound a little numb. Yes you can get a card on arrival. I used it for the first time this year on my way to Spain. There is an app and also the company can send you a list of sites. There is also a few sites in Spain. On toll roads make sure you get a tickeet before entering. Our first toll road in Portugal was confusing, missed the ticket, and on leaving the road, was told by the operator they would have to charge the full toll. €70 for a €10 journey😢😢😢 France and Portugal has high fuel prices. Cheapest diesel Ive found in Spain in Sandlucar at €1.39 litre. Usually €1.50ish. Happy New Year to you both keep up the great work.

You don’t have to have credit on to enter one of their aires but obviously you do when you leave as the system will calculate how much to charge you. I entered one of their sites with around €5 credit on my card (not enough for 1 night) & got a phone call from them after 7 or 8 days asking me to top up my card.

We walked along the river into Chartres then up to the cathedral, and as you say it is UP to the cathedral 😂, my wife and I aren't religious but we actually sat in there as a service took place, which i must say was an experience, until my wife turned to me and said, well this is boring 😂🤣😂🤣 lets say that was our cue to leave😂😂😂not stopping at the confessional box as it would probably burst into flames 😂😂😂, we've also stayed on that CCP at Renault chateau which we thought was perfect for a stop over, the town and chateau is actually very small few hours max but has a supermarket with a laundry facilities so handy, as you leave that CCP the building on the right is a public swimming pool which your ccp card gives free access to, we also love Bordeaux if your going to go, we actually stayed inside the citadel in blaye as it has a campsite and caught the bus in, anyway another enjoyable vlog keep them coming 👍

🤣 happy new year ! Glad the confession box is safe, it’s quite old 🤣 the singing / chanting was amazing in the cathedral, we didn’t go to Bordeaux , but it’s definitely on the list ! Why do you say not to stay overnight in a motorway aire?

Unfortunately motorway Aires I. France are notorious for crime, motorhomes are targeted by thieves. Village and town Aires are much safer options. If you end up having to stop to sleep on a motorway aire don’t leave your van unattended . Hope that helps a bit

The paid aires will usually have space for caravans, the free Aires not so much, if you use search for sites ( an app ) it should let you know what is available to you 🙂 happy New Year x
