One of the most common questions we get is how to get reliable wifi in a motorhome! We've used several motorhome wifi systems in the past, and today we're reviewing a new one- thanks to Wifi on Board.
Wifi on Board can be found at: www.wifionboard.co.uk
We received this wifi router and rooftop antenna in return for an honest review- hear more about that in the video.

Thanks for watching,

Did you test the mobile phone sim card in the router to see the difference using the booster?

While watching this I checked my EE signal and as I have experienced in the past the first pass with that app is often rather low but retesting for best of three as it were gives the kind of result you experienced when using your Huawei router and aerial. As a retired comms and electronics specialist my opinion is, this is not the carrier and not the app but centre providing the real time test facilities. Even in a static situation, namely your own home, you will not always be routed through the same test facility as it depends on traffic via the Internet at that given moment but you will keep that connection while your current test session is in process. I actually have that same 4g router and use it at home and away because the resultant data transfer speeds knock spots off of any broadband connection. I'm now wondering if this company sells their aerial array as an add on for those of us who already possess the router. Nevertheless your phone was endeavouring to obtain a data connection in a partially shielded environment ( bit like a Faraday cage with holes in it 🙂 ) and your router had it's antennae outside the cage. Gotta make a difference as you actually need line of site in one or more compass directions. Very interesting test though. Thanks 👏👍

Enjoying your channel as we get into motorhoming. Not sure if you said you had two SIM card slots in the unit so you could select whichever network gave the best signal in the area. Also, are these monthly paid SIM cards and can you give an idea of how much data I’d need to buy for browsing, email and some TV streaming? Thanks.

Thanks for an easy to understand video. Hope I’m not too late to ask a couple of questions please. 1. Is your Speed Test thing on your phone an app? 2. How do you wire the router up to be able to keep internet on all the time, both travelling and stationary? I have a leisure battery, but does that only power my usb sockets in back of van when I switch it on at the control panel when I stop, or are they ‘live’ all the time? And if not, can I make a connection straight to the battery? I realise all vans will be different, but I have an Autosleeper commercially converted campervan, if that helps? As you can tell I’m not very tech savvy! Thank you. Angie

EE doesn't throttle it would be the capacity of the network, the only network that throttle is Three you can tell as you always get a UK IP address which is useful when you want to connect to iPlayer or the lottery when roaming

Hi great video can I ask two things - first you have had this for a while is it still a great product in your opinion ?. Also is there a way you don’t have to contract to another sim as that is extra cost ie using the phone one somehow …. Sorry I am not technical

Hi Kat. This might be a silly question, if so my apologies. I was wondering whether the Huawei is battery or plug-in. If battery do your solar panels continuously charge it? If you need to plug it in how much of the solar charge does it consume?

Have you tried the Poynting XPOL-A0001 antenna? I live in a rural west Wales area where I am unable to receive a signal on my iPhone 11 Pro, but with this antenna I’m able to receive great data speeds. It’s £79, but I’d highly recommend it. If you do try it, please do a video on how it works for you!

I am reliably informed that you pronounce Huawei as Wah way. I'm not likely to change now after having used their products for several years and will continue calling them Who are we. It's a bit like that joke about the pygmy African tribe called the Helawi who couldn't see where they were in the tall grasses.

Well after watching this over and over ( probably the best video out there).. I finally bit the bullet and ordered a set from wifionboard. Wow ! You were not kidding ! Fast is the word and from an area with a very bad phone signal... We have 4 bars ! When fitting it , unlike you I mounted the aerial on top of the aluminium tube after disassembling the old aerial sooo I gain the best part of a meter in height if needed ( which I doubt) :-) . Thanks for the recommendation. Highly recommended. MO in Southampton.

Only comparable if you put the sim in from both networks, this router may not benefit the connection at all. Shame great idea, and would of been great comparison.
