Thanks for doing this Bud! I had no idea that the stock motor always draws 100% power, regardless of which setting. One would think otherwise, ie: that each of the 5 (forward) stages would draw 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100% respectively. I'm thinking of doing all this, so thanks once again! Much appreciated!

The things they don’t tell you…crazy how inefficient the stock setup is. Going on three years now, besides a battery upgrade smooth motoring. Glad to point you in the right direction 👍🏼

In line fuse will trip if I run at full power for too long, assume under load the power draw is more that 30 amps. If I run 80-85% then I can run for an hour plus continuously. Not a perfect system, but for the smaller lakes I fish it’s works well.

Clicked on the link for the controller you used and it says not recommended for trolling motors. Is there a specific reason why? Your install looks super clean. Going to attempt something like this on the bass raider perhaps. Steering will be fun problem to solve for me though.
@CompassAngler4 жыл бұрын
After a lengthy talk with their customer service they told me they had issues with people running too many amps through the unit and burning them out. They said 30 amps max, so I installed a 30 amps fuse breaker and no issues over a few seasons. My little trolling motor only draws 30 amps so check your amp draw on your motor before you proceed FYI. Good luck on your project 👊🏽

Hello. I know this was made 3 years ago and im not even sure if you will read this. I cant find that motor mount from Bassyake and on the page for that garage opener, its says "not recommended for trolling motors." Is there a modle number for the mounting bracket and have you had any problems with that power converter?

Subbed and liked, nicely done! Can you give me links to the circuit breaker, battery, and the storage box? Also how do you disengage the motor mount to get the motor to come up?
@CompassAngler4 жыл бұрын
Appreciate the sub and like. Most parts source from Amazon, don’t remember the actual vendors. Example for the circuit breaker linked below www.amazon.com/Circuit-Breaker-Waterproof-Trolling-Resettable/dp/B089M6NGZ6/ref=mp_s_a_1_6?dchild=1&keywords=30%2Bamp%2Bresettable%2Bfuse&qid=1614460979&sprefix=30%2Bamp%2Breset&sr=8-6&th=1&psc=1 Search 35 amh mobility scooter battery, battery box was an ammo box I found on sale at a sportsman’s warehouse. The bracket used to release the motor came with the mounting kit from BassYaks, listed on their website. Hope that helps

Thanks for the info. It says in Bold letters on their website that its not recommended for trolling motor applications. Do you happen to know why the say that? Id hate to cause some long term damage to my trolling motor. Thanks.
@CompassAngler4 жыл бұрын
No issue on the trolling motor side, the issue is the amps on the speed control side. They don’t recommend more than 30 amps max, some trolling motors pull more and can burn out the speed control. I use a 30 amp max trolling motor with a inline fuse, not really worried about damaging anything and have used it an entire season without problems. Hope this helps

Dude! Your speed controller is not recommended for trolling motors. Question have you had any problems out of it since your build.
@CompassAngler3 жыл бұрын
I’ve heard that since the moment I set this up, especially from the manufacturer. 30 amp rating, 30 amp draw from the motor, 30 amp circuit breaker in place. Only issue I’ve had is a dead battery in the remote once. Solid as the day I put it together!
