I owned a Suburban and replaced it with a Honda Odyssey. I towed a trailer once with the Suburban. And that was useful. You don't take these off road unless it's your second homes gravel driveway in the mountains. The base V8 averaged about 12mpg. Despite scheduled professional maintenance, the Suburban developed engine problems around 100K miles. The Honda went to 250K miles and was still running strong when it was traded in. I just couldn't fight the rust anymore. For typical family uses, pets, travel, and camping, can't beat a minivan. Now, I feel that I can buy about two vans for the price of one SUV.

Just got back from Texas and the rental car guys upgraded me to a Suburban from a minivan. I am in love! I was with my family of seven adults and all our luggage and we felt like we were in truck heaven. The interior was all leather with all the options. It was a solid comfortable and very quiet ride. We averaged 19 mpg city and 23 mpg highway. It has a 28 gallon tank which cost me $77.00 usd to fill. In Canda that would of cost me at $1.55 a liter $164.00. I love the new updates but particurally the elimination of the push and pull gear selector. What a pain that was! The new interior is refreshed but apart from the new larger scrteens the old interior was just as nice. Good job Chevy you potentially have a new client. I never considered buying american but I am actively looking at the GM line of full size people haulers. I can't say enough. Until you try one and live with it, like we did for 10 days, you will never understand what you are missing. Thank you guys for a great review!

Agree. Rented a Suburban to drive from Las Vegas to New Mexico and averaged about 25 mpg. I had it loaded with 8 people and it was comfortable and easy to drive. Really understand why you would want these rigs on a long highway trip

In the age of iPhones, iPads and portable gaming consoles, does anyone actually use second row entertainment screens. Seems like a luxury relic from 2008 when a flatscreen was a novelty and something special in the backseat of a car. I’d hate paying for such useless technology only to get the other features of the trim I want.

It kills me because vehicles like this would be perfect for an EREV. Slap in enough batteries to go 100-150is miles, then pop in a smaller, more efficient diesel to power the batteries (a N/A 4 cylinder diesel should be more than enough). The truck would have better pick up, more torque, less maintenance, and, with that smaller diesel motor running at its most efficient rpm, amazing gas mileage. Battery for town, gas for towing and trips. Cmon GM, the answer is smacking you in the face!

You mentioned the diesel being the loudest of the engines. I would question if it’s the loudest under a load. I towed with the 5.3 and 6.2 in the mountains and they were screaming going up hill. This 3.0l is much quieter under the same load. As far as daily, it seems quieter on acceleration. Maybe I hear different tones. 😂
