I can tell you that the tech is superior in the GV70, the ride (yes, even compared to the Q8, Granted my Q8 was missing air suspension) This vehicle is superior to the Q8 in every category other that size obviously. I really liked the looks and now that I've driven it on a 6 hr trip 12 hrs total I'm extremely pleased. This is my first genesis and if they are all this way I may stick with them. I had no issues with my Q8 but I honestly think this is a superior vehicle other than the smaller size which is what I was looking for anyway.

I live in Vancouver, Canada and just had the GV70 w/ 3.5TT overnight and totally fell in luv with it. Its a Luxury CrossOver that has plenty of power. It won't outperform the more sportier Benz GLC 63S AMG power & torque nor the X3 M 40i, or the Macan Turbo but the LUXURY (quieter & smoother ride) and the VALUE Proposition will have you thinking a few times over if the German options are really worth it for the extra cost. GV70 has the edge in my books b/c of the Ext & Int styling PLUS high level of materials used in the Int as top notch. I like to invest my money whenever possible and change out my daily every 5-10 yrs. This GV 70 has many Luxury features, new updated interior, that ext styling and enuf power (less than 5 seconds 0-60) to have tons of fun with. Its exceptionally quiet in the cabin and in Comfort mode it really is a smooth ride. If ur comparing the GV70 to the Germans you will be blown away with all the luxury standard features (Drivers side massaging seats, front heated & cooled seats, that massive center screen, the move forward & back option on the key fob, massive sunroof & moon roof, AWESOME sound system, all the safety features, etc...) It really does offer an AWESOME VALUE vs the Germans. PLUS the scheduled maintenance for 5 yrs is INCLUDED!!! the price in Canada for a full load with the interior CF trim, 360 camera, quilted leather, etc is $75,500 including F&PDI. Just pay taxes and doc fee. I'm VERY Very impressed:-) Now, do I choose the non latest interior and refreshed exterior G70 sedan which is a little quicker but the rear leg & head room is tighter or opt for the roomier, up to date & latest interior GV70 that soaks up speed bumps & road imperfections that is also much more quieter, but about $10K more cost? Fantastic VALUE options either way. Cheers from Vancouver.

In terms of pricing, I believe Genesis’ (Canada) pricing shown on their website includes everything but dealer, miscellaneous fees and GST. With Audi (Merc and BMW), unless you special order yours, the ones at the dealership are loaded with options, and you still have to add freight. So at the end of the day, in most cases, the GV70 and the Q5 will probably cost most buyers the same ish amount of money out the door.

By my math, the SQ5, comparably equipped ($79,540 with fees) + Maintenance and 1 extra year warranty vs 3.5T Sport Plus ($75,500). The Audi Q5 (leather, HUD, heated rear seats, drive and park assist, etc) to 2.5T Prestige is similarly 5-7% higher + maintenance and warranty. The question is do you want to be another black Audi Q5, Silver GLC, or White X3? or mix it up a bit with the GV70. Most of the reviews seem to be struggling with the notion that this car is 5-10% less expensive and drives way better than expected, but they just won't concede it's a good alternative. I notice that Acura reviews don't seem to get hung up on the German comparison. I'll give these guys some credit on this one; they give the GV70 more credit here than they seemed to in the long review where they still get hung up on the German comparison. Now, most people buy base models to say they drive an Audi, Mercedes, BMW. I think the market they may end up converting is the Acura, Infiniti, etc market where an RDX Platinum Elite (5-year warranty and maintenance) and GV70 2.5 Advanced or Prestige are similarly priced but the Genesis brings a higher level of luxury for that price. You're not going to convert the person looking for the status of the BMW logo. Now, having driven the 3.5 and the others I like the 3.5, but it's always personal preference unless you're just buying the logo.
@edisonl17563 жыл бұрын
One thing Zack points out in the video, and I think it's definitely a factor that some people ignore: Even though German cars depreciate a lot but Genesis as a new brand with not much luxury brand recognition, and refreshes their car looks every 2 or 3 years completely won't hold good value on the used one too (gv70 is the first-gen, but please search for like a used g80 which is at a similar MSRP price as GV70, either in US or Canada). Especially in this case, it is competing with Q5, which is probably one of the best resell value cars from Audi. As for leasing, I would definitely not go for this car since it is very likely to get a better rate from Audi or BMW on Q5 and X3. As for buying this, I think 2.5T advanced sounds the best to me - the price is not as crazy as the 3.5T, is equipped with enough features, the cabin looks nicer than many competitors.
@ezbacc3 жыл бұрын
i love Genesis and this car but youre right on the lease rates. I was comparing the Gv70 to the X3 (and yes the X3 is dated and will be refreshed soon so there are incentives right now), but the point still remains. Over a 4yr lease, you pay for an extra 10% (i think it was) of the Gv70 compared to the X3. So Genesis is obviously aware of their poor resale value and are forcing customers to eat some of that cost in their leases.

I have a 2021 Audi Q5 Premium Plus with Tech package, warm weather package, and 20" wheels. I think it is the best all rounder. When test driving the BMW X3 I found it drove just fine but actually cost more when you get the options to match the Q5. It also had less luggage space. I also drove the Mecan. Base model has exactly the same engine and a very similar drive train as the Q5. However, we thought it was very stiff riding, got low fuel economy and cost $10K more than the Q5. After 33K miles I do not regret my decision and really love the Q5. BTW on the Freeway I get 30mpg on a regular basis!
@horridohobbies3 жыл бұрын
The reason the base engine is so popular is not only because of the price. The base engine gives better fuel economy, and in this day and age, that's a big deal. We need to be more environmentally conscious. We need to be less selfish. Moreover, 261 horses (Q5) are a *lot* of power. That's much more than the 225 hp in my 1999 Acura 3.2TL, and at that time, this car was a monster. If 261 hp is not enough, there's something wrong.

If I am going to lease, Q5 is definitely the one to beat. When Genesis's reputation has been proven in the used market with high residual value, first 3 years of lease then buyout would be perfect for GV70. And Genesis products. If you compare the features closely, the SQ5 gets more expensive than the GV70 3.5T loaded unit. X3 and GLC are the same way. The top trim SQ5 needs a lot of ticked options to get to same feature level - the Dynamic package for example isn't included and it's a hefty $3750. Heads up display is $1100. The GV70 comes with the differential and the HUD in the top trim already for comparison. Basically, the Germans don't include a fair bit of options on the top trims, so you always pay for them and it reflects in the true apples to apples comparison.

Quick question guys. Does this year’s 2L Q5 come with mild electric boost for HP? Mine is a couple of years old and is rated at 240HP. Thanks and great channel!
@kingdramanyz3 жыл бұрын
Not electrical...I believe they upped it to 265 on the 2.0t last year. There is the phev q5....that does have electrical boost but is considered a hybrid. The videos I have seen and reviews I've read, the hybrid is at SQ5 performance levels at about 365 hp but obviously only when your small battery is fully charged.
@xavierpena51393 жыл бұрын
Yes, the usually do what you say, but I checked the Audi website and it mentions a 12v mild hybrid in the engine… wondering where the extra HP are coming from…

Have a Sq5 and wish I got it for the price you quoted. 2018 model was 64000 and just looked at a 2022 model and it's 71000 dollars. Much more expensive than Genesis.

I don't understand all this talk from people about how reliable Genesis is. They're a new brand and up until last year, sold 3 sedans. How can such an assumption be made? Hyundai, the parent company has had tons of recalls, lawsuits over engine failures and fires, etc. It's just silly. Maybe when Genesis has been around for 10-15 years and sales matching rival figures, then talk reliability. Way too early to tell.
@Djalathawayne3 жыл бұрын
Their warranty makes the comment you made kind of irrelevant. People are good for 100k miles or 5 years. That’s plenty of time and protection most people keep cars about 5 years so when it is resold someone will buy it for half what you paid and you rinse and repeat

I always liked the Q5, but the Genesis GV70 is sure giving the German and other luxury brands a run for their money! I would have a hard time deciding between these two!🤔🤷♂️

@SaltyAntelope632 жыл бұрын
Genesis is gorgeous, especially with top level trim and those 21in wheels. Only downside is fuel economy but suspect that's because of higher displacement 3.5 liter whereas Europeans use 3.0 liter 6 cylinders.

I think Audi is over rated, the body and interior don't look luxurious. Compare with Benz GLC better match up.
@DavidSmith-xc2xz3 жыл бұрын
Agree on the quilted seats, but disagree on the Q5 interior. I think the Q5/B9 cars might be peak climate controls for Audi and I love the absence of gloss black plastic. Gloss black was cool when used sparingly in older Cayennes for example, but now it's gone too far in many brands' products, IMO.

@@kyron2092 Acura, like Tesla, is not luxury but more premium or near-luxury. Plus that 2.5T is a beast in H/K sedans and pulling almost 100 mph 1/4 mile trap speed in the Sorento. Nothing for sale by Acura can do that this side of NSX today.

@@normt430 you make it obvious that you haven't spent time in these vehicles. I understand why'd you think that way though. The previous generation of Acura vehicles were somewhat sub par. But when it comes to interior/exterior design, interior volume and features, performance and handling, ride comfort and nvh, Acura is competitive in all of those areas. You state the Audi is "iconic" but it's also boring. The GV 70 has curb appeal and is new to the market so there is no history yet. My wife has a 2017 Genesis sedan which she loves and has been a very reliable car. Drives beautifully, comfortable and plenty of power. It looks different than the current G70/80/90 but still very attractive. I like Audi, reliable but it didn't inspire me on the test drive. I want a fun car to drive, that is why I'm on my 3rd Mazda CX5 turbo signature, what a blast. I have test drove the 2.5T GV 70, that was also fun to drive and the physical features are impressive. For me it's the GV 70 hands down.

The pricing is over on the GV70 because the options come with the package. The only way to compare the gv70 sports plus is to add all the options you have to pay more for on the Audi sq5. Also the heated/cooling cup holder is ridiculous that it only has one out of the two holders. They also both have bad rim options compared to the BMW x3 4.0. But your showing of all the options and highlights are great, please keep sharing.

I'm sending you an Adidas full quilted jogging outfit Zack. With gold strips. Enjoy!! hehe Re: the Genesis GV70. I'll say it again, that rear end doesn't work for this design nearly as well as the sharp GV80 rear end. For the front, I believe there's a sensor down low so you need to put the licence plate right in the middle of that big grill. It makes it look like they forgot many areas require a front plate. Ick. I'd buy the SQ5. As you pointed out, Genesis is WAY too cheeky with their pricing esp. when you consider resale if you are buying. Wait I'd go for the A4 allroad. And put the SQ5 engine in there.

Idc what the Audi has...after having 3 Audi's w/ the same oil leakage every 500-1K miles on ALL OF THEM (resealing the motor, piston ring replacement, timing chain etc). It's just a pain to deal with Audi's. It's like they're all manufactured intentionally w/ design defects because they want to spend money on other things. I've also owned BMW's & they're not as bad as Audi. But either way...I'm too old for European troubles. I'm Genesis products now.
