Motorola Moto G 5G Plus Review | Best budget 5G phone?

Review of Motorola's Moto G 5G Plus smartphone, an impressively cheap 5G handset boasting a 90Hz screen, stock Android, PubG worthy performance and a quad-lens camera. I've been using the Moto G 5G Plus as my full-time phone for a week and here's what I think of the gaming smarts, battery life and photo/video capture - as well as the everyday experience.
For just £300 in the UK, this Motorola mobile is definitely one of the best value budget Androids of 2020. Strong competition comes from the Realme X50 5G and newcomers like the OnePlus Nord, yet the Moto G 5G Plus can cope with all-day gaming, media streaming and anything else you throw at it. The IPS display is crisp and colourful, while Motorola hasn't ignored the audio side either.
And sure, the quad lens rear camera adds pointless stuff like a macro lens but the AI smarts are worth a look and I liked my everyday photos. Video quality is also good.
You can blaze through Call of Duty and PubG no problem, although PubG does top off at High frame rate and HD detail levels. Likewise, the HDR10 support doesn't extend to Netflix.
Regardless, I'd recommend the Moto G 5G Plus to anyone after a stock Android experience with solid specs at £300. Check out my best budget phones of 2020 round-ups for more reviews.

I went for the 6 128gb, and I've had it now for about 3 weeks. This is a great phone, first time I've had a Motorola, lost my iPhone and fancied something different. Definitely recommend going for the extra memory though.

Nord is more better... Higher power, Android 11 a 12 guaranted (moto max A11). I have G5G plus two weeks and not good, photos low quality, speaker sound low quality, high battery drain...

I am currently rocking the Moto G9 plus, and I can proudly say it's a monster... Although the camera can definitely do better, it's still some amazing work from this phone. It hasn't lagged or slugged at all, and the battery life is mind blowing. To see Moto realise a phone like this makes me amazed, and awfully tempted to get a refund for my G9 plus to upgrade to the 5g plus

Lacking processor power, and yes average consumer won't notice, but it's still gives a heads up for years to come, and the chipset is not that expensive to the point that they have to compromise so much it end up like the iPhone SE shits

I wanted a 5G phone, but I didn't want to spend anymore than $300. So I took a chance and purchased the Moto G 5G Plus from Amazon for about $250. The phone was definitely an international version, because it did not come with a US wall charger. Wasn't sure the 5G would work in the United States on Tmobile's GSM network, but I took a chance. Initially when setup all I got was 4g. But once I left the house and got closer to the city, 5G illuminated on the phone. It deviates between 5G and 4G depending on where I am, of course. I'm disappointed in one thing. Like the Moto G7 and Moto G8, I've had before, the screen just does NOT get very bright and it is hard to see in bright sunlight. The battery also does NOT last as long as my Moto G8 Power. But it will carry me through the day.

I would like to know. So we got the Nokia 5.3 at £150 and the Moto G 5G at £300. The £150 question is maybe is the Moto twice as good for twice the price? I gots to know. Double the pride and twice the fall. Maybe is a budget phone all you need and spending extra is law of diminishing returns?

Nokia is great for everyday stuff if your budget is tight. The Moto G offers a performance boost, good if you're gaming (although Realme X50 5G upgrades further to the 765G), sharper screen for video streaming, and a better camera too

I got short arms and long pockets. Most I will pay is £200 for a new phone. I get jealous when I see a nice photo from an expensive phone but I sleep at night knowing my £200 can do much worse for a fraction of the price. Also my Nokia 7.2 does me nicely. Don't need no Nokia 8.

This guy convinced me(this video did) to buy this fone 9 months ago. Here I am. Still absolutely loving it. Evey aspect of it is amazing. I use it more than my laptop. Battery life is still wonderful. The shortcut 'power touch' is completely useless really and it comes up when you don't want it to. Nor can you turn it off. Anyway... Fabulous fone! Buy one..

Have one about a week now. The screen is really sharp and natural colors , best ips screen I've seen in years and certainly better than many OLED screens out there. 90hz provides smootth performance and battery life is amazing. What more can you possible ask for? It also has a good camera and a audio jack. The 21:9 makes it unique , either love or hate it

I figured out a way to get 5g on this phone for 3 network UK without waiting for a update from Motorola follow these instructions If you want 5g on Motorola g 5g on 3 network uk type *#***#4636**#*#* and change setting to NR/LTE/GSM/wcdma and it will work on 3 network 5g tried and tested
