What you fail to realize is that the power consumption on a 720p display is much lower than on a higher resolution. The entire point of this model is to increase the battery life. I use my phone for business mainly. Since I'm not a graphic designer or photographer, the display makes no difference to me at all. Unfortunately I have to keep upgrading my phone due to keep in compliance with application versioning and planned obsolescence or I would likely still be using my phone from 2017. Simply put, it is an attractive feature to have a 720p screen to me and quite a few other people.

I actually have the G power 2020 version and I will not be upgrading to the 2021. Honestly, the only 3 things that I like are the silver color, side fingerprint sensor and the increased size of the screen. Still, this is not enough of a reason for me to do an upgrade if you can call it that. By the way, The 20/20 version will turbo charge at 15 watts. For whatever reason, Motorola just did not include the turbo charger in the box. Moreover, I talked to several people at Motorola and they assured me that the 2020 version will be getting Android 11 at some point in time.

@pimppastorjj3 жыл бұрын
What i don't get is why they made two different versions of this phone. The international version has a 6000 mAh battery! Why did they not include this huge battery in the US version? The massive battery would've made up for all of the stuff that they cut in this year's version! It would've even made the downgraded screen much more palatable since the battery would've lasted that much more longer!

It's interesting that while this is considered a "Power" model here in America, it's known as the G "Play" in Europe and other Markets. Add to this that our G "Play" is also known as the E7 Plus...it gets pretty confusing
@sanchitvarma12823 жыл бұрын
So the G Play (2021) launched in America is basically the E7 plus launched in Asia and Europe and the G Power (2021) in America is the G9 Play in Europe. And the G9 play is called the G9 in India. And the One 5G Ace in America is called the G 5G in Europe and India. Absolutely confusing nonsense.

From my recollection, I think Motorola is responding to the reviews of last year's model, many reviewers talked about getting alot of phone for the money and complained about not being able to differentiate between the three models released at the same time, so, now their doing some of that and releasing more expensive models with the stereo speakers and better screen and more, 2020 models with stereo speakers and 1080p screens are a better deal, but, the 2021 models aren't a bad deal either...

IMHO at this point one is better off buying last year's G Power with its 1080p display and stereo speakers, likely discounted as well. Only real advantage of G Power (2021) is an extra year or so worth of security updates and side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Won't benefit on the OS side as it''ll be stuck on Android 11 just like the 2020 variant, a big miscue on Motorola's part imo.

Take the perfectly fine Moto G Power. Downgrade the cpu from a 665 to a 662, which is essentially the 665 reject bin and draws 9 watts instead of 5, with a weaker DSP and modem and ISP... reducing battery life, supports Bluetooth 5.0 instead of 5.1, doesn't support full carrier aggregation so it's modem is slower, doesn't support Dolby audio, and doesn't record in 4k... Downgrade the ram from 4GB to 3GB, and storage from 64gb to 32gb, while cutting the SSD speed in half. Downgrade the screen from 1080p IPS to 720p TFT, and remove the wide angle camera. Oh, also, remove the ability to record in 4K, and take the amazing stereo speakers, and downgrade it to a mono speaker. Reduce the max charging speeds from 18w to 15w. Re-release as the Moto G Power (2021) and hope nobody notices... Profit? What the fuck Motorola!?!? You shouldn't have spent a cent on research and development. You should have taken the 2020, released it in brand new colors, maybe make a metal back version for shits and giggles for an extra $50, and called it 2021, while also throwing in an extra year of updates for everyone, both versions..

@@r.vincenta.9678 The Nord is a solid phone. I have the Moto G power from last year and in my opinion it is a much nicer phone than the 2021. The 2020 version has the Snapdragon 665 which really should have been classified as a 700 series processor. Motorola went with the Snapdragon 662 for the 2021 version and I really don't understand that downgrade. In addition, the 2021 version has a 720p screen which will improve battery life but the viewing angles are not going to be that great on a 6.6 in screen. The 20/20 version I have has a full 1080p with stereo speakers. I really think Motorola drop the ball on this one. Truthfully, if the Nord were designed to be a battery beast phone I would probably go with that. The factory unlocked version of the Nord has dual SIM card ability which I actually prefer. I guess it's all about picking and choosing.

I'm looking to upgrade my wife's phone, and my provider is Cricket. They offer an LG K92 5G, which is my #1 pick, but it's currently out of stock. I thought the Moto G Power was a worthy alternative. My first complaint is that they kept the exact same name. They almost tricked me into getting this 2021 model after reviewing the "Motorola Moto G Power," and seeing excellent reviews. It turns out I was watching reviews for the 2021 version. I was wondering why the camera placement was different. They should have named the 2021 the G2, or some other variation. It seems like the 2021 is a decent phone, but it's frustrating when you compare it to the 2020. Steps backwards make no sense, and makes you NOT want to get the 2021. My wife's birthday is closing in, and the K92 is still not available after about 3 weeks. I might have to pull the trigger and opt for the 2021 G Power.

@Interrobang. Huh what? People are happily buying millions of 2020 iPhone SE for $400 to $550 which only has a 4.7" screen at 750p. This 2021 Moto G Power only costs $85 today (3/12/2021) on Boost Mobile, so a 6.6" screen at 720p is reasonable despite me preferring that is sports 1080p.

I was anticipating a how-to video and ended up watching a this-is-what-pleases-me one. Label it what it is. Not what you think will bring the clicks.

All Moto Cell Phones Don't Have Enough RAM To Operate Smoothly And Efficiently. Their Phone's Freeze Up A Lot Due To The Lack Of RAM. Motorola Needs To Add RAM To All Of Their Budget Phones And Charge A Few Dollars More. Overall Their Cell Phones Are Pretty Decent, But They Need To Step Up Their Game And Stop Cutting Corner's If They Want To Retain Customer Loyalty!
