Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G 2023 vs Samsung Galaxy A54 5G

I just recently bought the Moto G Stylus 5G 2023 after a lot of comparison shopping, and I have to say, I’m getting more than I anticipated. While I don’t use the stylus, the display is great, the rear camera takes better pictures than I would have expected from a Motorola phone, and overall performance is fast as can be. Browsing and streaming vids have no lag, whether on Wi-Fi or 5G, and since my gaming is mostly retro 2D games and pinball games, I don’t have to worry too much about overclocking. Also, not as much bloat as the average Samsung phone. I’m happy with my purchase, and I’m looking forward to enjoying its longevity.

Snapdragon SOC has always been more stable despite Exynos SOC having better score... In other words, less stutter and dips in performance specially in gaming. (The Moto in the video having Snapdragon6 Gen1 WHILE the Samsung having an Exynos 1380)

yeah but their design is similar to HTC it won't last as long as the Samsung so expect some breakage through time.

What about the speakers? I have a Moto G power (I think it's 2020 or 21) and it has great speakers, just not enough storage. I have been going back and forth between these 2 and the Moto G power 5g 2023.

I have the same Moto G power, going on three years old, and it's been slowing down now. I'm also between these two and maybe the Nord N30. The only thing the Samsung is tempting me with is the three years of OS updates over only one year with Moto. It seems like that phone might last longer without slowing down, but is that worth the extra $150? Maybe... Can't answer about the speakers though, sorry.

I went to the local Best Buy, & they had both phones on display. While I think the Samsung had the better camera & display, the storage was shrunk down to 94 gb after their preinstalled apps. I would really like the better updates, I can't say the phone is worth the extra $150. The salesman at Best Buy showed me his Google pixel 7a, which has the same camera and some other things as their flagship phones, along with really accurate voice to text. However, it doesn't have as sd card slot and it has a smaller battery. So, I haven't decided yet, I will keep the moto g power for now, I guess.

@@JenniferP-v7m Right on. Well, one thing though I did notice is that prices have already fluctuated and will likely drop even lower for Black Friday ( I hope). For instance, right now on Amazon The Moto is $249.99! If you get the overseas version of the Samsung, you get 8gb instead of 6gb ram, and it is only $289. The downside to this is you don't get the 1-year warranty or Samsung support... I've never had to use a cell phone warranty, but I also don't know if I like being without the protection, so that's up in the air. If it goes even lower, I may have to grab that one, warranty or not. The Pixel 7a on the other hand is $499, putting it squarely out of reach for me.

You're very honest Kalipez. You have mentioned that the lifespans are different. The price is not too much, the A54 is $588 CA and the Stylus $498 CA at Videotron. Motorola will last several years if taken care of and one main difference is the pen is so practical for texting, photo editing ... The Stylus is a very good compromise for the other PEN S.G.s23 ultra at $1,650 CA. My Samsung Note 4 for example is going to be 10 years old in 2024 the version of Android is 6.0.1 Marshmallow. It was worth $850 CA. It gives you an idea of how long Samsung lasts. I took care of it, no gaming, no apps useless. ( 3 batteries in ten years and removable.) Changing soon I guess it's getting a little bit slow sometimes ;)

i had my note 4 forever too - but i found the replaceable batteries got worse and worse in quality. also the SSD gets slow over the years too - still the not 4 is GOATED. the new moto g stylus 5g can be had for 200 bux in canada - insane deal

I'm now spoiled by flagship specs!! The S9 is so much better with everything! It's amazing how 1080p actually is on super OLED display, so much better! If it had a bigger screen and better battery, it would be a perfect phone.

Which is the best with indoor, low light video and distance shots? I am on a budget. I have a Samsung S10. For some reason, the camera app doesn't work anymore after 4 and a half years. The phone works fine, but the camera app is all black when I turn it on. I was so sad. Is the Samsung S21 FE better than both of them? I'm contemplating on getting an iPhone, but I'm not a fan of Apple ever since Steve Jobs passed away. It's way too expensive to buy a new, unlocked iPhone. I also saw the bendable Motorola phone. How much will that fetch? My price range is around 600 for a phone, but these phones are like picking setting aside rent money or getting a new phone. I'm tired of getting a new phone every 4 or 5 years.

I'd go for s21 fe if you want a fast phone the battery isn't the greatest on that phone but to make it last you'd have to turn off 5G cause it eats the battery. If you want a clean stock android but not many OS updates moto g stylus 5g is the way to go and it has NFC. If you want clean stock android with updates go for the Google Pixel 7 or 7a they're popular for their cameras,Google's intelligence, and their features. Good luck with finding your future phone.

The processor on the Motorola can take a lot more punishment. Even after loading video and a lot of pictures my Motorola does not glitch out as much as my old Iphones or Samsung period. Also the camera quick twist functionality as well as the quick flashlight and Other smart features I can't find on any other phones. I used to go through 2 - 3 phones a year . 😮😂

If you bought it a year ago it must be a 2022. Honestly I would probably just keep the Moto, although the A54 is a bit better in the performance and camera, unless you’re unsatisfied with your Motorola in those two areas it probably isn’t worth the money. Plus now that the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE is out, although it’s pretty expensive right now in comparison, if you can wait a few months I bet it’ll be a lot more affordable and I’d say that phone (or a Razr for that matter) would be a better upgrade from your current phone than the A54 would be

It won't be much of an upgrade... My a54 heats up while heavy gaming (Tested when I got it so I'm return it...Fine if you don't want to game on it like Fortnite, Diablo, Genshin, etc...) so don't get the trash exynos...consider other choices or wait for the a55 which at least has an amd rdna2 gpu. Me? I'm return the a54 and get this one which has a snapdragon...

I disagree with your comments about the photo/ camera quality of the G stylus vs the Samsung s21fe. I have an s21 fe for my work phone, a Samsung Galaxy A54 for my personal phone and a moto g stylus 4g 2022 for my old phone. The stylus takes better pics than the A54, and in most cases it rivals or bests the pictures taken with the S21 fe.

I have the moto and the nord n30 ive played with the a54 and honestly there isnt that big of a difference the Samsung is the better of the 3 with moto being second a very close second id pick the moto just because in my experience it did have a better battery

*As much as I love Motorola, it's an automatic loss for the Moto G Stylus. It has an LCD screen versus the A54 AMOLED screen. Massive difference. And since they're both pretty good on specs in comparison to one another, LCD vs OLED in general is all I needed to know.*

The galaxy a series are not that good! Software issues adter 1 month or 2 and the new moto g 5g is faster than usual and clear like an iphone with cameras. ( Comparable). Maybe the a54 has improved and idk

I love the moto gestures. Aside from the Samsung getting more updates (which usually slow down phones, worsen battery life, and introduces bugs and instability), i have thoroughly enjoyed Motorola phones more, but that's just my preference.
