You would need to open it from the back first because you would need to disconnect the cables for the screen/touch screen glass etc. and reconnect the new ones. You would not be able to from just the front.

@PBKreviews6 жыл бұрын
If you mean the small hole thats for the sound to enter the phone to reach the mic, I don't think you would have damaged it unless you smashed it in really hard because the mic itself is a gold colored solid metal type piece which is soldered onto the main board and would not break off or damage unless it was pried off etc. Basically its not like a speaker that can tear.

@PBKreviews6 жыл бұрын
If you have been trying to turn it on with water damage most likely you damaged it further. When your phone gets water damage, you need to try to turn it off and not turn it on until its completely clean n clear of water or corrosion. Next you need to disassemble it, and clean off any water and make sure there is no more water and if there is corrosion on the circuits you need to clean the corrosion off with a brush. Then reassemble it and try it.

Thanks
@PBKreviews6 жыл бұрын
If the phone was completely dead, it takes about 3-5 minutes for it to initially get charge enough to display that the phone is charging etc. But if the phone is on and working but it wont charge and required you to plug it in a few times for it to work, then either you have a faulty charger or a issue with the phone and would contact motorola and have them replace it.

@Jon1103346 жыл бұрын
If you're replacing the LCD screen and the digitizer, you'll need some 2 mm double sided tape and some conductive glue. Hopefully, you're not like me and wait until the LCD screen gets in to realize you need the conductive glue. Now I'm waiting for another shipment to arrive before I can have my cellphone back up and running.

This phone is definitely not repair friendly, even for me who's been doing phone repairs for 20+ years, it's not an easy job due to the way it's put together. By the way, if you attempt it, don't just use "some" adhesive, but preferably high quality strong "Tesa" tape make especially for phone repair, that is if you want to get it done the right way. Its not too hard but you would need to take the phone apart and remove the mother board to gain access to the power button/volume rocker. You would need to remove the screws holding them in place and see whats causing them to stick. Maybe cleaning them out and re-placing them in would fix it.

I don't think that would be possible because there really is no room for a larger battery. It would sit thicker and the back cover would not fit back onto the phone.
@BillAnt5 жыл бұрын
It's a lot easier to remove the back by first heating it up evenly to about 120C on a heating plate (better yet using two heating plates side by side with a 3cm gap in between the plates to fit the rear camera lens, in order to avoid damaging the camera by the heat ;)

Can original adhesive be reused or does it get pulled apart and gunky? Need to know if I must order new adhesive before doing a battery replacement?
@BillAnt4 жыл бұрын
Usually the adhesive gets damaged (gets non-sticky and sometimes even ripped in places), therefore I always use brand new Tesa brand adhesive tape especially made for phone repair (extremely sticky and strong). It's best to have different sizes available from 1mm to 20mm wide for all kinds of phone repairs (you can find it here: www.ifixit.com/Store/Tools/Tesa-61395-Tape/IF317-072?o=1). If you don't have it or don't want to spend $100 for all the different sizes, then take it to your local phone repair shop which will most likely have it, and they usually don't charge a lot to have it replaces professionally (should be around $10usd, course for that price you will have to supply your own battery, otherwise it runs around $30 with the battery included).

Constructive criticism from a fellow youtuber, good clear video, good vantage point to see everything you were doing, but try to refrain from pointing out locations of obvious items such as "Here is the SCREEN 8:26", or, "Here is the CAMERA 7:31", battery, SIMM tray, headphone jack, charge port, etc. "No shit". Second point, I think most people are here for the screen removal. It's not really a disassembly / teardown without this and you might want to consider listing "no screen removal" in your title else it's kinda clickbaity... Good luck and happy youtubing!
@PBKreviews4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, but one this video is pretty old my videos now are more clear, and two you would think I don't need to mention those things, but you don't know how many times I get asked those questions on what part is what, where is the mic, where is the headphone jack connected etc. Best to just mention them so I don't have to answer every time. Also after the disassembly all that is left is to heat up and pry the screen off, there is no special instructions on how to do the rest usually. Once the phone is disassembled, screen cable is disconnected, you just pry the screen off and add new adhesive and apply the new screen back on and reverse the process. As I have said many times, if you can't understand how to do that part then you should not even be taking a phone apart in the first place. Basically like taking the bolts off the rim of the tire then saying ok now how do I lift or pull out the rim. You just pull it off. But again I mention this in newer vids already telling you what you need to do to remove the screen since like you many people ask how do I replace the screen. Thanks for the pointers but in more recent vids I have implemented some of them and hope my explanation is thorough enough to explain why I do certain things certain ways.

@@PBKreviews Cool! KZbin friends? Thanks for taking the time to feedback. I'm glad my comment didn't upset you. Screen isn't always so easy. I ran into one from factory where the backside of the LCD was double-sided taped to the midframe along with edges (like how the battery is). Undo the edges like normal, then BANG, because reasons. So I learned... always check... because that would've been handy to know five minutes ago. Want to see the video I made taking mine apart? I was drinking pond water and using a bean bag for heat. :) What else would you expect from a guy goes by a name like mine?
@PBKreviews4 жыл бұрын
@@project_avx Ya no problem, it didn't upset me :). Ya screens are always usually just held down with adhesive, some use more adhesive some use less. But almost always suggested not to pry a working screen off because the chance of breaking it is high so if its already broken then you have nothing to worry about but when its working I try not to pry it off unless I have to since I don't want to render it useless :)
